1 Report affirmative sentences:
- Give out examples and elicit the way to change an affirmative sentence into a reported speech Ex: a) “I am twelve years old.”
-> He said that he was twelve years old b) “I can’t play volleyball.”
-> She said that she couldn’t play volleyball. - Consolidate the knowledge
* Notes:
Present simple -> past simple
Present progressive -> past progressive Will -> would
Can -> could
Have to / Must -> had to May -> might
Here -> there This -> that These -> those Now -> then
Tomorrow -> the next day/ the following day - Ask Ss to give some examples with the above notes
2 Report Yes-no questions: Ex: a) “Are you a new student?” -> He asked me if I was a new student. b) “Do you like sports?”
-> He asked me whether I liked sports
- Elicits the way to change a yes-no question into
