KRONE HIGHBAND 25 Category 6 High Density High Performance Cabling System Congratulations on your choice of the best connection hardware available. KRONE HIGHBAND 25 represents the next generation in High Density, High Performance hardware, with the KRONE renowned, globally accepted disconnection feature. This provides the facility for aesthetically pleasing Patch by Exception installations; resulting in lower maintenance requirements for network administrators. We at KRONE have a commitment to supporting future technologies. This is reflected in the HIGHBAND 25 full range of products consisting of 25 pair modules, mounting hardware, patch cords, labelling and current HIGHBAND disconnection and dummy plugs. Installation instructions: Step 1 Draw a horizontal line on the mounting surface approximately 1875mm from the floor. Partially insert two (2) appropriate screws (not provided) into the mounting surface 125mm apart, where you wish to begin the installation. Step 2 Mount the Back Mount Frame (BMF) onto these screws, as shown in figure 1, ensuring that the frame is vertical. Once the frame is mounted, tighten the two screws to secure the frame to the wall. Insert the remaining two screws into the lower mounting holes to fully secure the frame to the wall. For subsequent frames in the vertical, place the frame flush and in line with the previous frame, or mark another horizontal line 529mm below the initial mounting screw reference, then screw the frame to the wall. Step 3 Note – For ease of use, ensure that no modules are assembled to mounting frame prior to adding or removing Vertical Cable Managers. Once the first vertical row of BMF’s is mounted, take the Vertical Cable Manager, dual or single (dual shown), and insert into the frame as shown in figure 2. Once inserted into the BMF, the cable manager should be pushed back until flush with the wall, as shown in figure 3. For added support, the vertical cable manager can also be screwed to the mounting surface using the appropriate screws (not supplied). Once the two (2) cable managers are in place, the correct pitching for the next frame is set. The individual cables are now ready to be routed to each module for termination. Step 5 Assemble the module to the horizontal cable manager, as shown in figure 4, ensuring that the module is in the correct orientation and that the horizontal cable manager “TOP” marking is on top. Step 6 Starting from the bottom of the BMF, mount the first module/manager assembly. This is done by clipping the manager to the BMF. The cable manager will be marked with top, thus ensuring the correct orientation. Step 7 Strip the sheathing for each of the six cables 60mm. Route each of the six (6) cables into the cable retention slots, stopping the sheathing at the rear of the module. Fan wires out, ensuring that the twist rate is maintained to within 10mm of the termination point, and terminate the wires into the top slots of the module, using the KRONE termination tool (a 110 tool may also be used). NOTE: The pairs should be placed as per the colour code on the module. Slide the clear protective insert over the label. Assemble the label holder to the module along the top row of turrets, as shown in figure 6. Step 9 Once cabling is complete, assemble the cover to the cable manager as shown below. For more information, contact your local KRONE office. Terminate the wires into the top slots of the module, using the KRONE termination tool (a 110 tool may also be used). NOTE: The pairs should be placed as per the colour code on the module. For best performance, it is recommended that the termination tool be held perpendicular to the centre or tilted slightly (up to 5°) toward the centre of the module. CORRECT CORRECT INCORRECT    Locate cables in grooves under clips, fan wire pairs to each contact. Ensure module and cable manager are correctly oriented on mounting frame as shown. Prior to termination, fan wires with a min excess of 20mm over the module into the top of the termination slots. KRONE HIGHBAND’S RESOUNDING GLOBAL SUCCESS. WHAT NEXT? In 1995, KRONE Australia’s HIGHBAND family of cross-connect products made a resounding impact on the Australian structured cabling market. The HIGHBAND portfolio of products provides high-speed LAN and WAN systems with extended bandwidth capacity and improved transmission performance. By using HIGHBAND, organisations are equipped to plan ahead – a necessity for extensive communication networks that will carry Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, multimedia and high-resolution interactive services such as videoconferencing and e-commerce. The Australian-designed and manufactured HIGHBAND solution is the only cross-connect product to far exceed the proposed international Cat 6 performance standard. It has become the industry standard in high profile networks in more than 60 countries. HIGHBAND first to enable PBE The HIGHBAND module was the basis for KRONE’s revolutionary Patch-by-Exception (PBE) methodology. Advances in technology and reduced hardware costs have increased the provision of computer outlets. Data services now exist in just about every office or work area. When a person moves, accessing the network is a simple matter of plugging their computer into the new port or outlet provided. The time and cost benefits of the PBE methodology are substantial. The use of the KRONE HIGHBAND solution significantly reduces the amount of patching required (and the cost). Most moves, adds and changes can now be handled at the software level, making patching the exception rather than the norm. Higher ground The introduction of the HIGHBAND 10 arrestor magazine and Single Pair Protectors took HIGHBAND out of the private (Premisnet) domain and into the public (Accessnet) domain. HIGHBAND exists in many public networks throughout the world today and provides Network providers with the platform to better deliver their services. What’s next? There is no time for rest at KRONE’s extensive facility North of Sydney on the NSW Central Coast. A team of 19 engineers, drafting and laboratory support staff have been hard at work and a new HIGHBAND addition is nearing completion. The family resemblance is there with Cat 6 performance, high density, superior cable management, PBE capability … and more.
