BACK TO SCHOOL Period : 3 SECTION : FRIENDS (A 3, 4) Date of preparation : August 18 th , 2009 Date of teaching : August 21 st , 2009 Classes : 7A5 I. Aims and objectives : + Language Content : -To remind the students the ways of greeting and help them know the differences in greeting between ages. - To give them some ways of greetings. +Language Function : - To enable the s.s to greet each other. +Educational Aim : - To educate them to greet others when they meet again. 1. Language : + Vocabulary : everything, just fine, pretty good, busy… + Structures : See you later, How about you? 2. Skills : Speaking, Listening, writing and reading 3. Educational factor : - To make the s.s more aware of the importance of greeting their friends, teachers and relatives. II. Teacher’s and students’ preparation : 1. Method : Communicative Approach 2. Techniques : Games ( T/ F ); using pictures, pairwork, explanation. 4. Materials needed : pictures, tape, sub-board. 5. Students’preparation: revise the greeting in grade 6 6. Previous exercise : III. PROCEDURES IN CLASS : 1. Stabilization :(3ms) 2. Checking up previous knowledge : (7ms) Has the s.s play the game T/ F about the passage in A2 Questions: 1. Hoa is an old student; 2. She lives with her parents in Hanoi; 3. She has a lot of friends here; 4. Many things in Hanoi are different from Hue; 5. Her new school has a lot of students; 6. Her old school is smaller than her new one. Keys to the questions: 1. F; 2.F; 3. F; 4. T; 5. T; 6. T 3. Leads to the new lesson (by telling the aims of the lesson) Tells them how to make and respond the greetings. II. Pre-practice: Asks the s.s to tell some ways of greetings that they have learnt. Has them tell the difference between the greetngs. Introduces some responses in situations. III. Controlled-practice: Ex3: a. Pre. Gives model sentences in the dialogue and has them arrange. b.While: has the s.s listen to thetape and correct the exercise above. Good morning, Mr. Tan Good morning, Nga. How are you? I’m very well, thank you. and you? I’m fine, thanks. Good bye. See you later. Good bye. Gives time for them to practise in pairs. Calls on some pairs to present it before the class. C. post: Has them greet each other in class. Ex 4 shows the sub-board with the dial on Plays the tape and has them listen Look at the pictures and answer They are greeting each other. Listen to the teacher. Hi / Hellow Good morning How are you? Tell the differences Ex: Hi ( informal ) Good morning ( formal ) Guess the meaning of these responses in context.
