separation of protein b Director: M.Sc Tran Thi Dung c Participants' B.Sc Vu Quynh Thuong B Sc Tran Huu Tien (t Objectives and contents + Preparation o f ultrafiltration membranes for separation of protein using phase inversion method + Investigation o f influence of preparation conditions on characteristics o f ultrafiltration membranes prepared from polyacrylonitrile + Modification o f membrane surfaces by low-temperature plasma treatment to improve membrane separation performance e Obtained results Ultrafiltration membranes prepared from polyacrylonitrile material can reject protein from feed solution Separation capacity o f membranes depends highly on preparation conditions such as concentration o f polymer solution solvent evaporation time, coagulation medium, casting solution composition and etc The experimental results indicated that polyacrvionitrile ultrafiltration membranes have an asymmetric structure with ultrathin dense top layer located onto porous support layer Membrane skin pore size and the thickness o f top-layer as well as the sublayer porosity depend highly on preparation conditions These ultrafiltration membranes can reject protein from feed solution with a good flux also Plasma treatments o f membrane surfaces can improve the separation capacity o f membranes with the increase o f flux meanwhile its protein rejection is almost maintained Some obtained results of this subject were given in the bachelor graduate thesis o f a student (Tran Huu Tien, K47B, Department o f Chemical Technology, Faculty o f Chemistry, Hanoi University o f Science, 2005) Two papers whose contents concerning with some results o f this subject had been published in National Journal o f Chemistry and International Journal Thin Solid Films (Please see an
