1. VỀ QUỐC TỊCH Có các từ khác nhau để nói về quốc gia và quốc tịch Ví dụ: I’m from Australia.(countryquốc gia) I’m Australian.(nationalityquốc tịch) I come from Indonesia.(countryquốc gia) I’m Indonesian.(nationalityquốc tịch) Trong tiếng Anh, nhiều tên quốc tịch được thành lập bằng cách thêm ‘n’ vào tên quốc gia. Korea / Korean Indonesia / Indonesian Malaysia / Malaysian JOHN Where are you from? ANNE I come from Singapore. I’m Singaporean. Đơi khi chúng ta thêm 'ese' vào tên quốc gia. Vietnam / Vietnamese Japan / Japanese Nhưng cũng có ngoại lệ: England / English Thailand / Thai 2. VỀ TUỔI TÁC Khi được hỏi về tuổi tác, thơng thường chúng ta chỉ nói số đếm. How old are you? I’m twentyone Chúng ta còn có thể hỏi: What is your age? Và cũng có thể trả lời I’m twentyone years Or: I’m twentyone years old. Or: I’m twentyone years of age Or: My age is twentyone JOHN Now tell me about your brother Ms Lee. How old is he? ANNE He’s twentythree. JOHN Right, and how old are you? ANNE I’m twentyfive. 3. I work in my family’s business Ta nói do trước và sau you What do you do? Ta nói do trước và sau I , we và they What do I do? What do we do? What do they do? Nhưng với he hay she ta dùng does trước và do ở sau, khi hỏi về nghề nghiệp What does he do? What does she do? JOHN And what does he do? ANNE He’s a student. 4. NHỮNG CÂU HỎI VỀ NGƯỜI KHÁC Các câu hỏi về hoạt động mọi người làm, có thể được trả lời với yes or no thường bắt đầu với do or does Does he speak English? Yes he does Does he speak English? No he doesn’t. JOHN Hmmm. And does he speak English? ANNE Yes. He speaks English and Chinese. Do you play football? Yes I do. Do you play football? No I don’t. Những câu hỏi khác với are or is. Are you married? Yes I am Are you married? No, I’m not JOHN And are you married? ANNE No, I’m single. Is he a student? Yes he is. Is he a student? No he isn’t Một số câu hỏi khơng có câu trả lời yes hay no How tall is he? What is his height? JOHN (looks at the photo) Hmmm. How tall is he?
