Tenses I Simple past tense. Put the verbs in the followng sentences into the negative and the interrogative. 1. She saw your brother. 2. We heard a terrible noise. 3. He slept till 10 o’clock. 4. He looked at the picture. 5. They drank all the wine. 6. They set out early enough. 7. She thought about it. 8. The police caught the thief. 9. She found her watch. 10. She lent you enough money. 11. His wife came at 8 o’clock. 12. Jack kept the money. * Write the verbs in brackets in the simple past tense: 1. Last week I (drive) to the office every day. 2.Ann (walk) to class yesterday instead of (take) the bus. 3. The rain (stop) a few minutes ago. The sky is clear now. 4. Mr. Wilson (plant) some trees in his garden yestterday morning. 5. I (get) up late yesterday. 6. Mai and Huong (have) lunch at the cafeteria two hours ago. 7. Mary (talk) to John on the phone last night. 8. Sue (Write) a letter to her parents yesterday. II. The past continuous tense. Put the verbs in brackets into the past continuous tense. 1 Who you (talk) to on the phone as I came in. – I (talk) to Mr. Peter. 2. She (stand) at the bus stop. I asked her what bus she (wait) for. 3. While he (learn) to drive, he had 25 accidents. 4. He had a bad fall while he (repair) his roof. 5.
