Nguyen Trong Nhan Large shopping malls are replacing small shops Do you think it is a positive or negative development? The current trend is that there are more and more small shopping places are gradually being replaced by large – scale shopping malls Although there are many opposite opinions, it comes to my mind that the benefits are ascendant On the one hand, there are a few problems which people cannot avoid The first is that many small businesses are forced to bankrupt due to the fierce competition from larger ones with sound financial ability This also leads to the fact that a lot of start-up shops are not able to rival with the bigger ones because of their limit brand of products The second is that it is quite uncomfortable for individuals to go shopping This is because most of the large – scale shopping malls are located in suburban areas which are quite far from city center; the result is that they have to spend little time to travel with long distance in order to come to these destinations, and someone feel inconvenient In spite of the arguments mentioned above, I still fully support the view that there are many dominant advantages if small shopping places are replaced by larger ones First of all, most of large shopping malls are wholesalers who provide consumers with cheaper prices than the other small shops; moreover, clients will have more opportunities to buy things with good deals, this is because producers always insert a variety of attractive promotion every day The second noticeable is that this kind of business can be able to attract more foreign direct investment; to be more specific, local countries can have more access to high – tech products which can help the increasing of quality of products In an extensive sense, the country can reach the prosperity of the economy because of the modern technology brought from other nations In conclusion, based on the discussions above, I would like to restate that small shops need replacing by large shopping malls because of some significant benefits
