Honors Algebra II Project Boys’ and Girls’ performances in Math Introduction: The purpose of this project is to investigate between boys and girls, who perform better at Honors Algebra 2. This topic is really important to us because nowadays gender equality is extremely critical to society and by doing this project, we will be able to take a further step at acknowledging and closing gender differences, especially in the mathematics field The analysis team members for this project includes that following Honors Algebra II students: Ha Dao, Aylar Tekaeva Hypothesis: In general, the girls will have a higher average scores at Honor Algebra II than boys. Methodology: Step 1: Choose a population that will be investigated which is Honors Algebra II students Step 2: Change the grades(letter) to the scores(number): A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1; F=0 Step 3: Separate the population to boys and girls and since we want to have an accurate data, we will take 90 boys and 90 girls randomly from the population. Step 4: Compare the average of each groups’ scores per advisories Our sample space is nonbiased because we use random number generator (0,9,120) and (0,9,95) Observation/ Data Analysis: Total: 215 Girls: 90 chosen from 120 Boys: 90 chosen from 95 The Population is the amount of students who are in Honors Algebra II After calculating the scores, we found out that girls are better than boys in Honors Algebra II. Boys' average score is 2.75 Girls' average score is 3.073 Girls did better at each advisories than boys: in advisory 1 the girls did better by 0.21, in advisory 2 by 0.45, in advisory 3 by 0.31, and in total by 0.323. Summary: We are trying to know if girls are better at math than boys. So we had to get all students’ grades who are in Honors Algebra II. And based on the results, we found out that girls are better than boys by comparing their scores in Honors Algebra II. Honors Algebra II Project Boys’ and Girls’ performances in Math Recommendations: We found out that girls are better than boys in Honors Algebra II. Girls’ average grade in Honors Algebra II is 3.073 out of 4.00, while boys’ average grade is 2.75 out of 4.00. Based on the results of our project, we recommend to make a conference where all the parents of students who take Honors Algebra II could attend and talk about the results and how the teachers put grades on assignments so that parents could talk about it at home and help their children to do their work and turn in their work on time. It could help to increase the average grades of all the students, including the girls and boys who take Honors Algebra II. ...
