BI O GR A PH Y | Harper’s Bazaar He styled for some Vietnamese celebrities such as Quynhanhshyn, Erik, SontungMTP, Jaykii, etc Well-known for his uniqueness, elegance and style in his designs and collections Wants to combine streetstyle with high quality material to create an unique style for his brand Yonndon S tylist Nam Phung born in 1994, in Hanoi, Vietnam He interested in fashion since he was an years old kid Had studied aboard since 2009 till 2017 and graduated Whitecliffe College in 2017 Has been studied and worked in fashion area since 2009 Harper’s Bazaar | SY N am Phung is an introvert person who prefer simple and minimal, his unique style is a reflection of his unique personality His style is a fusion of different styles, experessed by his way with layering and textures He likes to combine clothes with simple designs that are not too colorful or many details to create a beautiful and unique outfit in his own style Sometimes just a T-shirt and a pair of sport pants with strange colors and texture are enough to show everyone that this can only be Nam Phung’s style He prefer design streetstyle clothes with high quality materials to creat a “simple but unique” .products for his brand Yonndon | Harper’s Bazaar There are two designer are the biggest impact on his career The first one is rapper/designer Kanye West Kanye has created an empire, anything he puts his name on is guaranteed to sell The other one is fashion designer Rickowens, in the way that he has effectively embodied his own aesthetic in all aspects of his life, to be the center of what attracts his to his clothes and personal E Y Harper’s Bazaar | “Now I am happy to see how things are settling for my brand Yonndon, where it has reached a point of people recognizing my work, and how my name has now established a brand” - Nam Phung | Harper’s Bazaar CAREER “Fashion designing looks very fancy and glamorous for people out there but in reality, it’s not, there’s a lot of struggle involved” Nam Phung started working and promoting his own fashion brand ‘Yonndon’ since 2018, he have been working very hard, and now people are recognizing and admiring his works There was a lot of hard work involved and also a lot of struggle during the early stages of his brand At the beginning it’s very hard to work and design everything by his own He had to go to every fabric factories, sewing workshops and pressrooms It takes a lot of stages and time just for a single products But if you can arrange time and works logically, you can it well and smoothly When there are high-end brands such as Gucci, Versace and LV, why would people want to spend money on purchasing his clothes? Its to be able to convince them he is good enough for them to trust his brand ‘Yonndon’ And the evolution in his work is that he has gotten gradually closer to the essence of the Vietnamese streetstyle and at the same time made it increasingly appealing to a contemporary audience He has managed to make these garments which everybody said were un-cool into coolest and unique piecies Harper’s Bazaar | M E S S A G E S | Harper’s Bazaar A rt has no limits, it helps us express our endless capability to sympathise with different ideas and experiences There is something about art that expresses an inalterable truth, which is exactly what fascinates us just when we look at designs made by our ancestors “Having been out of school for a little over a year, I’ve had a lot of time to think about how I took my passion for fashion There were a lot of things I gained invaluable advice from mentors, and strengthened my design skills–along with things I could have done better I’ve learned that as a fashion designer you depend on many, many people to make things happen so you need to assemble a great team of people to things well Every day is a challenge” Nam Phung also have some advices for students and young designer pursuing a creative industry career in Vietnam that whether online or in real life, it’s a good idea to take an active part in the world of design Join organisations, attend events, follow industry leaders and keep your eye on what’s happening in design Practice every minute you have a chance In order to get good, there’s simply no replacement for actually doing the work Sometimes people will talk, judge your ideas and your decisions You will have good and bad advisors, but don’t be afraid of what other people prejudice about your designs or choices, you have to trust in your instincts and stand up for the things you believe in “Don’t follow trends, create your own art world ” Harper’s Bazaar |
