SITUATION ANALYSIS AND TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS FOR IMPROVING LANDSCAPE I SITUATION ANALYSIS Based on actual survey at the locations with existing landscape in the facilities of USS, we have given some analysis of landscape quality, specific causes affecting landscape quality as follows: Saigon South Campus The total area of lawns and shrubs: 42,500 m2 The total types of trees: 450 trees The total area of shrubs: 3700 m2 The total decorative flowerpots: 290 flowerpots - Grasses used to grow in the landscape areas consist of two main types of grasses known as Cow grass and Bermuda grass Bermuda grass is grown focused in the areas of football field This type of grass grows quickly and is able to withstand the impact from regular activities Its body lies entirely underground; its leaves and subordinate body thrive up on the ground; its roots strike over 20 cm deep underground The Demand for watering in a day is rather high Due to fast growth, both periodic supplies of fertilizer and regular trim are very important to develop the lawns uniformly and stably Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, the current lawns have grown quite long, which leads the loss of grass features and an increasing demand for watering and fertilizer because of large biomass Cow Grass is grown on the entire remaining landscape areas surrounding shrubs and shade trees Cow Grass lies close to the ground with shallow roots- under 12 cm and big leaves These features require Cow grass to be provided with a daily amount of water to maintain adequate stability and fertilizer to ensure lawns' even development Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, lawns surrounding football field are seriously short of water which results in dried leaves locally in each area due to shortage of watering system - Big trees are mainly of the following types: African mahogany, Rain tree, Mohur tree, Frangipani, Bengal almond, Golden Flamboyant, etc They are mostly perennial woody species Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, it is seen that trees in the main landscape are less affected by insects and growing well Trees in the area of the tree fence are lacking care, but still developing steadily - Shrubs are occupied a relatively large area, distributed across campus and around the fence Shrubs are planted mostly as perennial plants, long-term trees, and woody shrubs These species are often evergreens Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, areas of shrubs allocated in the landscape area have developed relatively stable, but are lacking unifoUSSy The inside area of tree fence has been in stable condition Shrubs located outside the fence, along the boulevard are withered due to lack of care Dead trees have been not replaced yet - Decorative flowerpots are located in the office and along the corridor Rhapis and Ivory bamboo are two preferred species These trees have a high capability of growth and development in low light conditions with a light intensity of 1000 Lux - 3000 Lux Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, the trees grow very slowly, seem to be barren and are suffering from severe malnutrition and lack of care after being used as fixed decoration for a long time Premises of Pham Ngoc Thach The total area of grass: 2000 m2 The total of big and small trees: 35 trees The total area of shrubs: 1000m2 The total decorative flowerpots: 50 flowerpots - Grasses grown are mostly Zoysia Tenuifolia Ideally, this grass grows rapidly in the full light conditions With less favorable conditions, its leaves and body grow longer and higher Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, the grass has grown rather long Overgrowth of leaves and body leads to changes of grass identity - Big trees are mainly of the following types: golden areca-nut, coconut, longan, etc These are perennials, evergreens, and semi-deciduous trees Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, most large trees grow well Some trees are not in unifoUSSy due to aging - Shrubs planted are mostly perennials such as Rhapis, Cycas revoluta, Bougainvillea Spectabilis, etc Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, trees in full light conditions thrive while their counterparts show a slow growth and dead bodies Decorative flowerpots are mostly Rhapis and Dracaena fragrans These trees prefer the shade and grow well in low light conditions Picture of real situation According to the actual condition, the trees planted in the house seem to be overwatered resulted in unfavorable growth Some trees are located in the daylight with the high intensity, which causes trees yellowed and stunted I SOLUTIONS FOR IMPROVING LANDSCAPE QUALITY We understand that investment in landscape trees helps to create green space and, at the same time, elevate the beauty of the buildings and other supporting works Maintaining the quality of the landscape will always be placed on top in the maintenance of the project after construction by the investors Referring to the current status of the actual landscape at the campuses of USS, OTO shall propose a number of solutions to solve and change the quality of the landscape Redefining the aesthetic standard regarding the quality of most crops aims at satisfying the demand given by USS in the bidding documents specifically as follows At all campuses including Southern Saigon and Pham Ngoc Thach - Premise of football field grown Bermuda grass: It is essential to cut down the grass and maintain its lengths of 2t o cm to ground The main body lies underground so cutting down the grass does not affect the vitality of lawns (OTO guarantees this issue) - Cow Grass surrounding football field campus: It is essential to supply more watering, fertilizer and nutrients in order to improve the resistance of the grass in case of water insufficiency Currently the area of lawns is relatively large, so it takes much effort and personnel watering which cannot ensure the unifoUSSy and density of water to the entire lawns In case of winning the contract, OTO shall propose USS to invest himself in an automatic irrigation system for the large lawns This is to ensure that water is distributed evenly avoiding partiality and human dependence This item shall be handed over the investor for a period of years of the contract At the same time; USS shall decrease the number of people for watering, equivalent to the level of 3000 m2 / worker A part of workers shall be moved in other works with the purpose of improving other item quality Automatic irrigation systems shall help to reduce the cost of watering; there is no wire for watering extended across the landscape areas affecting aesthetic values of the whole work - Saigon South Campus is located on salt-water and alkaline soil Basically, when the shade tree roots down, they reach the alkaline soil layer which slows the growth and development process Low resistance poses risks of pests and deceases Shade trees will be periodically fertilized phosphate to strengthen their root systems enhancing resistance Trees must be sprayed with chemicals to shield them from funguses and wide spreading bugs such as mealy bug, black soot bug, etc - Shrubs play an crucial role in qualifying the aesthetic effectiveness of landscape works Shrubs in flower gardens on campus should be cut down in order to redefine the way for unifoUSSy Soil should be turned up to supplement organic materials and microorganisms for better nutrient absorption Shrubs inside the fence area should be picked up, pruned dried branches, turned up soil to supplement organic materials for soil improvement Shrubs in the outside area toward the street should be planted for compensation Died branches should be cleaned up Vertical cut should be carried out periodically for extra branching which increases the width of the fence - Decorative flowerpots indoor lessen the sense of hardness and rigidity of solid materials However, if decorative trees are not well cared but still decorated, they cause opposite effects and spoil the whole space Shrubs need to be cared periodically It is essential to replace weakened trees which affect the aesthetics of surrounding space The recommended tasks include adding fertilizer, replacing soil and spraying drugs for tree recovery Garden for production, caring trees and samples ... intensity, which causes trees yellowed and stunted I SOLUTIONS FOR IMPROVING LANDSCAPE QUALITY We understand that investment in landscape trees helps to create green space and, at the same time, elevate... the quality of the landscape will always be placed on top in the maintenance of the project after construction by the investors Referring to the current status of the actual landscape at the campuses...According to the actual condition, areas of shrubs allocated in the landscape area have developed relatively stable, but are lacking unifoUSSy The inside area of tree
