IELTS WRITING TEST The chart below shows the sleep patterns of people in five different occupations according to a Canadian study. Write a report for a university lecturer, describing the information below. Give possible reasons for the differences. You should write at least 150 words. Allow yourself 20 minutes for this task. asleep: awake: Occupation Student Truck Driver Full-time mother Business Executive Doctor -7 pm -8 pm -9 pm -10 pm 10-11 pm 11-12 pm 12-1 am -2 am -3 am -4 am -5 am -6 am -7 am -8 am -9 am -10 am 10-11 am 11-12 am 12-1 pm -2 pm More Test Bằng A ---Select--- Bằng B ---Select--- Bằng C ---Select--- Grammar Basic ---Select--- Intermediate ---Select--- Advanced ---Select--- Từ vựng TOEIC ---Select--- SAT ---Select--- TOEFL ---Select--- GRE ---Select--- GMAT ---Select--- 2-3 pm 3-4 pm 4-5 pm 5-6 pm model answer: Differences in sleep patterns appear to reflect differences in individuals' occupations. A Canadian study has pointed out, for example, that students typically sleep for a consecutive 8-hour period each night, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. This may be because the central activity in their lives, study, takes place in normal daylight hours. Similarly, business executives sleep consecutive hours, but perhaps because their jobs are especially busy and stressful they sleep for 6 hours on average, getting up around 5 a.m By contrast, truck drivers, probably because of their need to keep their trucks on the road over long periods, tend to sleep in two 3- hour blocks: one between 7 and 10 a.m. and another from 4 to 7 p.m. Another occupation associated with broken sleep schedules is that of doctors. They tend to retire to bed around 1 a.m. and start their day at 7 a.m , but may be woken up to deal with emergencies in the middle of the night. Finally, full-time mothers, especially those with young children, tend to sleep when their babies do. Typically, they will sleep from 10 p.m. and be awoken at 1 a.m. to comfort their babies for a couple of hours. They then go back to bed to wake at 6 a.m., but nap for two hours or so in the early afternoon. Thus the influence on one's sleep pattern is worthy of consideration when choosing an occupation. (To be continued…) By Writing task - 04/03/2017 Some people think that developing countries need financial help from international organizations Others think that it is practical aid and advice that is needed Discuss these views and give your own opinion There is a difference of opinions on what kind of help is more necessary for third world countries In my view, support in the form of money shows less practicality than other types of useful aid and consultancy On the one hand, I understand why some people argue it is best to provide financial assistance for developing countries Firstly, external monetary flow enables executive bodies of those countries to carry out a variety of functions, for example infrastructural development, social healthcare, water and power supplies This would help avoid stagnation and foster economic progress Secondly, when state income from taxes is inadequate, foreign cash injections are vital to maintain effective administration systems by paying standard salaries for governmental staff members who play supervisory roles in all sections of a nation On the other hand, I would side with those who believe other forms of assistance should be given Sustainable growth does not merely depend on money, but on how a country is governed and directed, particularly diplomacy and the resolution of concerning internal issues like poverty, crime, or unemployment In this spectrum, less developed countries certainly not have enough experience, which emphasizes the need for direction and consultancy from experienced organizations Furthermore, even if financially supported, third world countries still need experts in the fields of science, law and medicine in order to encourage their development However, scientists, lawyers and doctors can only be trained, and professional and systematic education and training programs are therefore more practical and suitable in the context of developing nations In conclusion, owing to the aforementioned arguments, it seems to me that instead of monetarily assisting poor countries, global help should come in other forms such as advice and training courses 287 words  Third world countries: nước phát triển  Consultancy: tư vấn  To provide financial assistance: cung cấp hỗ trợ mặt tiền bạc  External monetary flow: dòng tiền từ nước  Executive bodies: quan hành pháp  Infrastructural development: phát triển sở hạ tầng  Stagnation: trì trệ  To foster economic progress: đẩy mạnh phát triển kinh tế By  Foreign cash injections: lượng tiền hỗ trợ từ nước  Administration systems: hệ thống điều hành  To play supervisory roles in: đóng vai trò quản lý  Diplomacy: ngoại giao  The resolution of concerning internal issues: giải vấn đề đáng lo ngại nước  Professional and systematic education and training programs: chương trình đào tạo giáo dục chuyên nghiệp Writing task - 12/03/2017 Some believe that it is good for a country’s culture to import films and TV programmes, while others think it is better for a country to have their own films and TV programmes Discuss both views and give your own opinion There has been a difference of opinion regarding the merits of foreign movies and TV channels to the culture of a country as people believe domestic products would be better From my perspective, both of those categories are equally important On the one hand, people usually believe foreign films and TV telecasts can contribute to the cultural diversity of a nation Fascinating social norms and practices, such as public hugging which is common in the US, can follow the wave to other nations as Hollywood blockbusters are becoming more popular This phenomenon is believed to benefit the richness of the host country’s traditional backgrounds Moreover, the import of international movies and TV shows could perfect the flaws of the country’s sets of beliefs In Vietnam, for example, the ceremony of funerals is often perpetuated with ongoing depraved customs such as gambling and drinking Since the arrival of TV shows from more developed nations, which triggers a new and civilized way of thinking, such practices have been gradually aborted On the other hand, it appears to me that producing local movies and TV programs has the same importance Citizens of a country would be able to acquire knowledge about their own culture Apparently, profound insights of traditional values can be vividly conveyed in cinemas and on the media if the content is made by local people The second point to be considered is that this way can relieve the worry of cultural assimilation which has emerged as a detriment to the existence of a country’s traditional beliefs and customs In fact, if exotic practices are absorbed thoughtlessly, it might lead to the oblivion of the long-standing ethics, which emphasizes the necessity for domestic products In conclusion, I would argue that both types of films and TV telecasts play an equal role in a country’s culture By               304 words TV telecasts: ...Đề thi writing IELTSIELTS Recent Exams in 2014 Cập nhật đề thi mới nhất – ngày 2/8/2014 • Writing task 1: Two bar charts, from 1980 and 2010, about figures on worker ratio of Agricultural, Industrial, and Services sectors in Germany, USA, Japan, and China. • Writing task 2: In many parts of the world, children and teenagers are committing more crimes.
