Warm up: Draws picture: “ Bong Son post office” and asks Sts : What am I drawing? → post office Have you ever gone to post office? → Y/N What do you go to post office for? → play games,internet,chat , post letter…. Have you ever written letters? → Y/N What kinds of letter do you often write ? → a letter of invitation, a letter of reply, a letter of complaint, a letter of acceptance,a letter of request… Leads to the new lesson : Today we are going to learn the lesson about this topic. II. Pre – writing: Match column A and B. A B 1.We write our own address . A. “I look forward to …” 2.We write with an expression like B. “Your faithfully …” 3.We write the receivers name and address … C. “Sir or Madam” 4.We sign off with … D. Dear …” 5.We write our name … E. under the signature. 6. We write the date … F. on the left handside 7.We start the letter with … G. under our address 9.If we don’t know the persons name, we use . H. in the top right hand corner + Calls them to give their answers and check. + Gives the feedback : 1H ; 2A ; 3F ; 4B ; 5E ,6G ; 8D; 9C. *. Post – Writing: - Asks a student from one of the groups to write their letter on the board. - Tells the class to read together and give correction if necessary. Tröôøng THPT Nguyeãn Du UNIT 5 HIGHER EDUCATION (Language focus) AIMS AND OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson Sts will be able to - Help sts stress in words of more than three-syllables - Pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly. Review conditional type 1, 2, 3 I/ PRONUNCIATION 1.Warm up Takes some books : philosophy, mathematics ,economics….and asks: What is its name? Can you pronunce it ? How many syllables do you speak ? How do you sress these words ? 2. Pre-practice a. Stress the first syllable if the word has three syllables Ex: ‘popular , ‘singular…. b. Stress the third syllable from the end of word. Ex: ge’ology, phi’losophy…… c. The end of word by: -ade, -oo, -oon, -ee, -eer, -ese Ex: prome’nade ,bam’boo, engi’neer………. d. Before syllables: -ic, -ial, -ient,- iar,-ous, -ory,-acy,-ian, -ience,-ety,-tion, -itude Ex: e’conomic , com’mercial, con’venient…… 3. Controlled-practice: Practise sentences in book ( p 59) 4. Free- practice: Asks sts to give some words which containt more than three syllables II. GRAMMAR 1.Game: Find the other halves Divide the class into two teams - Let Ss work in groups of 4 or 5. - The representative of each group (one st) will go and read sentences stick on the board ,then come back group to write sentence( one time with one sentence) - Which group finishes first and give more correct answer will be the winner. - Check Ss’ understanding of the instructions. - Give corrections if necessary. - Declare the winner Expected answers: If I have free time, I will play table tennis If I were you ,I would help him………. 2. Controlled-practice: Asks sts to do exercises1,2,3 in book (p 59,60) Corrects. 4.
