area according to a specific rotation angle The screen axes are fixed at all times They are defined as the following: • SCREEN X Axis direction is from the left to right of the terminal screen • SCREEN Y Axis direction is from the bottom to the top of the terminal screen • SCREEN Z Axis direction is from the screen to the user 1058 eta/DYNAFORM 5.9.2.1 CHAPTER 17 VIEW OPTIONS VIRTUAL AXIS function can be repeated as many times as desired • Click on the Reverse button to reverse the rotation This function can be repeated as many times as desired Figure 17.2.1 Rotation dialog box 17.3 LIGHT This function allows the user to simulate the real color of parts according to light conditions in eta/DYNAFORM An object itself is not luminous, and it is usually illuminated by three types of light: Ambient, Diffuse and Specular The light source is formed by various lights with different intensity and none of them is purely formed by one type of light POSITION This function enables the user to uniformly move a light source direction with a consistent intensity The dialog box is shown in Figure 17.3.1 The right and left arrow buttons are utilized to move the light source in the positive and negative X-direction, respectively The up and down arrow buttons are utilized to move the light source in the positive and negative Y-direction, respectively eta/DYNAFORM 5.9.2.1 1059 VIEW OPTIONS CHAPTER 17 Figure 17.3.1 The Light Source dialog box AMBIENT The ambient light does not come from a specific direction It comes from a light source, but the light reflects everywhere in the room or scene, without direction For the object illuminated by ambient light, the surfaces along all directions are illuminated evenly The user can control the intensity of ambient light using the slider on the interface DIFFUSE Diffuse light comes from a specific direction and is reflected evenly on a surface However, the object surface directly illuminated by the light is still brighter than the surfaces swept by light from a certain angle The user can control the intensity of diffuse light using the slider on the interface SPECULAR Similarly to diffuse light, the specular light also has direction Its reflection angle is very sharp and is along a specific direction High intensity specular light tends to form a bright spot (speckle) on the illuminated surface The user can control the intensity of specular light using the slider on the interface 17.4 BACKGROUND COLOR This function allows the user to change the background color of the display screen Once this option is selected, the on, the user can define the rotation center prior to rotating the model If the button is hit, eta/DYNAFORM prints the following message in the message prompt window: PICK A LOCATION AS ROTATION CENTER The user can click anywhere in display window as the rotation center Then, holding the left mouse button down, move the mouse cursor to rotate the model around the defined center If the rotation shortcut key ( + left mouse button) is used to rotate the model, the immediate location upon which the mouse cursor is placed is automatically defined as the rotate center The model is rotated around the center 17.6 PLOT SHELL ELEMENT AS SOLID This function is utilized to plot shell elements with thickness as a solid The thickness of the solid element equals the thickness of the shell element The solid element offsets towards the two sides using shell element as the middle layer Make sure that the thickness of the shell element is defined when using this function Otherwise, this option is not available 17.7 USER VIEW This function is utilized to save/store a desired view in the current eta/DYNAFORM database The saved/stored views can be recalled The user is allowed to export the model view in *.view file format and save it to a hard disk It is easy to import it from a hard disk to the database when necessary The User Views dialog box is illustrated in Figure 17.7.1 By default, the
