Trung bình, hằng ngày mỗi người Việt Nam tiêu tốn 2h đồng hồ vào mạng xã hội, nhưng có lẽ phải nhiều hơn như vậy. Tôi đã từng tự thách thức mình không sử dụng điện thoại, máy tính, internet trong một tuần, và tôi thất bại ở ngày thứ năm. Dường như tôi đã bị phụ thuộc quá nhiều vào những tin nhắn, vào những cuộc gọi, vào những cập nhật về bạn bè, xã hội xung quanh tôi. Tôi “phát điên” khi không biết mọi việc đang diễn ra xung quanh mình như thế nào, ai cần đang cần liên lạc với mình và hơn hết, tôi có cảm giác mình đang bị ‘lãng quên’ khi tôi tách mình ra khỏi thế giới số. Còn bạn thì sao? Một người bạn Nhật Bản nói với tôi: “Ở Nhật Bản, hầu hết mọi người giao tiếp qua smartphone, từ văn phòng xuống tàu điện ngầm, và thậm chí là ở trong nhà”. Việc này có vẻ như không chỉ xảy ra ở riêng Nhật Bản. Ở Việt Nam hiện nay, vợ gọi chồng xuống ăn cơm qua Facebook, hai người hẹn nhau đi ăn tối, mỗi người dán mắt vào một cái smartphone, bạn bè hội họp, lại mỗi người ôm khư khư một cái smartphone. Chúng ta mất dần nhu cầu giao tiếp thực tế. Nếu trẻ con lớn lên trong một môi trường mà nơi đó người ta không có nhu cầu giao tiếp thực tế, chúng sẽ trở thành những người lớn không còn khả năng giao tiếp thực tế. Điều này đang xảy ra. Càng ngày chúng ta càng giấu mình đằng sau bàn phím và tự đánh mất khả năng giao tiếp của mình. Hằng ngày, thiên hạ kết bạn, tán chuyện với nhau qua các trang mạng xã hội, nhưng lại không thể nói chuyện khi gặp mặt nhau. […] Khái niệm F.A đã dịch chuyển từ những người cô đơn sang cả những người có đôi, có cặp. Với tình trạng hai người hẹn hò nhau mà mỗi người tự nói chuyện với cái smartphone của mình thì thực ra cũng chẳng khác nào F.A Nguy hiểm hơn nữa là khi chính người lớn chúng ta làm lây lan tình trạng này sang cho trẻ em. Và điều sau đây hoàn toàn có thể xảy ra: Một thế hệ F.A mới sẽ ra đời thừa kế lại chính hội chứng F.A của cha mẹ chúng.
