A short story about Lord Krishna … • Krishna is a central figure of Hinduism and is traditionally attributed the authorship of the Bhagawat Gita • He is known as the eighth and "complete" incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, come to restore good to the earth in a time of great dharmic imbalance About 5000 years back there lived a king named Ugarsena in the Yadava dynasty - in Mathura (Uttarpradesh) King Ugarsena had two children Kansa Kansa Devaki Kansa grew up to become an evil prince and was very cruel Devaki got married to Vasudeva The marriage celebrations were on and Kansa out of his love for his sister, decided to be the charioteer At the same time there was a sky prophecy (Akashwani) “Hey! Kansa!! Devaki‛s eighth child would kill you” Kansa was very superstitious and hence wanted to kill his sister Devaki at that very moment But Vasudeva intervened, and begged Kansa not to slay Devaki and show her some mercy He promised Kansa that he would hand over the 8th child born to them, if he would let Devaki live Kansa agreed and placed them under house arrest with strict vigil on them Kansa then imprisoned his own father Ugrasen and made himself a king His evil ministers further advised him that he shouldn’t take any chance and kill all the children of devaki And one day devaki gave birth to her first baby boy As promised Vasudeva handed over six of his children one after one whom the cruel Kansa killed mercilessly However, the seventh child in Devaki’s womb got transferred miraculously to the womb of Rohini (first wife of Vasudeva) This child conceived in Rohini’s womb was Balarama Then Devaki finally gave birth to her eighth child at midnight In order to reveal His divine nature to His parents, Krishna appeared in His four-handed form of Lord Vishnu “Dear parents don’t cry Take me across the Yamuna River to Gokul and exchange me with Nanda*-Yashoda’s daughter You will return to the prison before anyone comes to know." Nanda was the head of a community of cow-herders The prison doors opened automatically, shackles removed and all the guards slept It was a stromy night and when vasudev reached yamuna river He placed krishna in a basket and carried him on his head Ananta Shesha Naga, covered Krishna as an umbrella and protected krishna from the rains But yamuna was very eager to see and touch lord Krishna … The water of the river had turned wild Krishna slowly removed his foot from the basket and touched the water with his toe, the river parted making it easier for Vasudev to pass through Vasudev reached gokul and kept krishna in yashodas arm and picked up Nanda-Yashodas girl child and returned to the jail When Kansa was informed about the birth of the 8th child He came and dashed her on the stone slab Instantly the girl flew away in the sky saying, "You evil Kansa! I'm Yogmaya Your destroyer is already born and is safe and sound in Gokul!" The next day, it was declared that a baby boy was born to Nanda and Yashoda He was named KRISHNA Based on scriptural details and astrological calculations the date of Krishna's birth, known as Janmashtami, is 19 July 3228 BCE and departed on 3102 BCE The further story will be added soon … [...]... removed and all the guards slept It was a stromy night and when vasudev reached yamuna river He placed krishna in a basket and carried him on his head Ananta Shesha Naga, covered Krishna as an umbrella and protected krishna from the rains But yamuna was very eager to see and touch lord Krishna … The water of the river had turned wild Krishna slowly removed his foot from the basket and touched the water with... river parted making it easier for Vasudev to pass through Vasudev reached gokul and kept krishna in yashodas arm and picked up Nanda-Yashodas girl child and returned to the jail When Kansa was informed about the birth of the 8th child He came and dashed her on the stone slab Instantly the girl flew away in the sky saying, "You evil Kansa!
