Teaching aids : Postcards, Projector, Computer, Plastic papers PROCEDURE WARM-UP : (5min) Slide 1 Game: "Lucky numbers" (Group work) T: introduces the game. There are 8 numbers. Among of them are 2 Lucky numbers You are divided into 2 groups: group A and group B First of all, the player from each group chooses a number . If the number is a lucky one, you have 2 marks without finding out the word. . If not, you have to find out the word based on the teacher's question. The group with more marks will be the winner. Checking understanding: - What will do you do first? Expected answer: choose a number. - If you get a lucky number, do you have to find out the word? Expected answer: no - If your number is not a lucky one, what will you do? Expected answer: find out the word based on the teacher's question. . T: Very good! Let's begin. Sentences / Questions 1. Sts: answer T shows another postcard and asks: (Slide 10) “ Do you know what city it is and where it is?” Sts: answer: This is San Francisco City. It's in the U.S.A T: Now, Mrs Quyen is visiting this city. T: Yes, and here is her friend, Sally. “What did Mrs Quyen send to Sally? St: She sent a postcard to Sally. 2- Gap fill: (group work) (Slide 11) T: shows the postcard and says: "This is the content of Mrs Quyen's postcard" Now: work in group to complete the gaps with the appropriate words. ( no information for this) - How does she say about what she bought? ( I bought lots of souvenirs) Stage 2: While Writing:(15 min) 1- Set the scene: (Slide 13) T asks: Do you know where they are? Expected answers: 1- Ha Long 2- DaLat 3- SaPa 4- NhaTrang 2- Writing: (group-work) (Slide 14) Imagine you are a tourist on vacation in one of these places Write a postcard to a friend about your trip, using the information in the grid. The class is divided into 4 groups, each group writes one place. T: gives each group a plastic paper and asks them to write on it. Group 1: HaLong Group 2 : Dalat Group 3: SaPa Group 4 : NhaTrang Sts: of 4 groups discuss about the content of the postcard. The leaders of the groups write their content on plastic papers. T: monitors and helps Sts with their writing. Stage 3: Post Writing (10 min) 1- Exhibition: (Using projector) T: puts in turns the paper of each group on the projector so that the whole class can see it clearly. Sts: of each group read aloud their postcard. 2- Correction: The other students correct the mistakes which are underlined by the teacher. T: checks the mistakes again Give comments and marks for each group. Homework: (1min) (Slide 16) Ask Sts to copy the postcard of their group in the notebook. Prepare the next lesson. .
