A) Read this love story and work out the meaning of the phrasal verbs in bold Then match the phrasal verbs to their definitions: Sally had been going out with Mike for over a year but they had split up because he had let her down Sally considered that sincerity was the most important in a relationship and she had found out that he had been cheating on her with her best friend She was feeling really upset and decided to go to a different high school Maybe she could get over if she didn’t see them every day Classes started and the first day she took the only free seat next to a guy called Harry They hit it off each other immediately One morning he asked her out during the English lesson They decided to meet at a pub in the town centre but he didn’t turn up Had Harry stood her up?, she asked to herself As she was getting angry and bored, she started to chat up with some guys in the pub But then someone hugged her tenderly It was Henry!
