In recent years, it is quite obvious that youngsters are living a sedentary lifestyle since they are seriously lack of time to play around with their peers and are brought in full of pressure by the school duties To my mind, the two major reasons for this are the academic assessment and parental pressure Thus, this essay aims to look into the causes and provide some solutions Apparently, in a whole lot of countries, the education system is heavily based on grading For instance, while the Western countries value their students through both grading and extracurricular activities, the Asian ones only notice their score-board Therefore, Asian students believe that whether they will get into a reputable university or find a well-paid job in the future all depends on their performance at high school As a consequence, they spend most time studying real hard and even taking private classes It requires a huge change in the assessment criteria to resolve this problem The educators at those countries need to be aware that they have to pay more attention to not only grading but also the experiences their students have gained Only when this comes true will the youngsters have chance to enjoy their age Another primary factor contributing to the pressure on teenagers is their parents’ high expectation Parents often consider having outstanding result as their children’s duties It seems as if they wouldn’t even have a second thought of sending their kids to extra classes just because of one bad mark at school, without understanding how stressful their children could get There is a fact that the proportion of depression or even suiciding in youngsters is rapidly growing because of this Therefore, I strongly believe that some solutions have to be made immediately The parents’ awareness of the adverse effect of their expectation seriously needs to be raised The Government and the schools have to join hands to this, through mass media or some professional conferences However, the best way is that each individual student should talk to their parents to find a common denominator To sum up, every single youngster has the right to enjoy their age However, the pressure they are suffering will not disappear overnight It requires a long-term endeavor of the parents, the schools or universities and the Government as well
