See how tight her eyes are shut And see how still she keeps Everybody says to “Hush!” Whenever Susan sleeps When Susan’s shy, it’s very hard To make her speak a word And when she does, she whispers so Her voice is barely heard She puts her finger in her mouth And seems to want to cry, Yet everyone’s so nice to her Whenever Susan’s shy 10 When Susan’s sick, poor little girl, She has to go to bed She doesn’t want to laugh or play— She wants to sleep instead The doctor comes to check on her And says her pulse is quick Everybody worries so Whenever Susan’s sick 11 12 When Susan sews, her stitches are Extremely neat and small And if she takes the greatest care, They hardly show at all She sits up straight, and in and out Her shining needle goes Everyone is pleased with her Whenever Susan sews 13 14 When Susan sneers—oh, horrible! What’s she sneering at?
