Off course…Reported missing… Overdue… These are chilling words

EMS TECHNOLOGIES Location, Location Off course… Reported missing… Overdue… These are chilling words. The lives of those in distress, and of those who risk their lives to save them, depend on the accurate and timely determination of the distress location. Detection and location determination of Cospas-Sarsat alerts are the primary functions of the EMS LEOLUT 600. The LEOLUT 600 is based on over 20 years of EMS experience in the design and evolution of LEOLUT technology. The LEOLUT 600 uses industry standard components to provide mission critical reliability, and scalability to ensure years of continued service. A fully automated high performance satellite earth station, the LEOLUT 600 monitors, receives and processes distress signals relayed from COSPAS-SARSAT satellites. After each satellite pass, it processes the signals from emergency beacons to update location information. The LEOLUT 600 monitors time and frequency data to detect and locate the active beacon, and then sends location co- ordinates and other pertinent information to the Mission Control Center fo r analysis and distribution to SAR resources. A key function of the EMS LEOLUT 600 is its ability to internally maintain satellite orbit data. EMS LEOLUTs are the only LUTs in the world today that can perform combined LEO/GEO processing as defined in the COSPAS-SARSAT specifications. LEO/GEO processing can improve the determined beacon location accuracy by using data received from a GEOLUT. In some instances, this combined processing can provide beacon location solutions when LEOLUT processing alone cannot. The EMS LEOLUT 600 and GEOLUT 600 systems work together to provide a comprehensive SAR system. With their advanced combined LEO/GEO processing functionality, these EMS systems provide SAR users with response capabilities unmatched by any other system provider. The LEOLUT 600 is a fully- automated high performance satellite ground station that receives and processes distress alerts from SARSAT and COSPAS satellites, determines the beacon location, and forwards data to search and rescue forces. 1725 Woodward Drive Ottawa, Ontario K2C 0P9 Phone: (613) 727 - 1771 Fax: (613) 727- 8633 Web Site: www.ems-t.com LEOLUT 600 LEOSAR L OCAL U SER T ERMINAL LEOLUT 600 EMS TECHNOLOGIES LEOLUT 600 System The storage capacity of the LEOLUT 600 is fully configurable to meet user needs, and is sufficient to exceed the data requirements for Cospas-Sarsat data analysis. LUT Hardware Compaq Dual Pentium Processor EMS Phased Array LEOLUT Antenna GPS Clock S PECIFICATIONS The LEOLUT 600 builds upon the qualit y standards of earlier models while incorporating the most current technology. A powerful industry standard computer and custom software provides the advanced digital signal processing required for complex SAR data. Its modular hardware and software architecture facilitates scalabilit y and ease of enhancements. Proven reliability, a reduced parts count, and use o f Commercial Off-The-Shelf components are examples of EMS’ commitment to keep the LEOLUT 600 at the forefront of LUT technology. The EMS LEOLUT 600 is the most feature- rich, comprehensive LEOLUT available today. Based on the proven ATLUT technology, which demonstrated a 99.9% reliability factor, the LEOLUT 600 provides maximum performance and dependability that is critical for rescue operations. The LEOLUT 600 can function alone or in a dual LUT configuration. In a dual LEOLUT configuration, two LEOLUT 600s are used to optimize satellite coverage of a region. The LEOLUTs coordinate their pass schedules to ensure that the maximum number o f satellites are tracked. This configuration has proven itself in providing fast ambiguity resolution in distress situations, especiall y near the equator where fewer satellite may be seen. Many LEOLUT 600 systems can be grouped into a network to provide coordinated coverage of a larger national region. For more information please contact: empsales@emstechnologies.ca
