Appendix 5a Loong Pichit added a second and third storey to his original single-storey home. Note the blue-painted wooden extension (left). Furthermore, the water tanks in his home were also propped up to the height of the 2011 flood (right). Paa Sao’s wooden home on stilts was built in the 1920s – she has started modifying it since the 2011 flood. Near the white parts of the home is an extended platform where they can get on and off a boat easily in case of another flood. Appendix 5b Since the flood, loong Akhom converted the first storey of his house into a storage area where unimportant and dispensable objects are stored. The electronics – such as the washing machine – and the family’s kitchen have since been moved upstairs. He remarked that it was as though they have converted their home into a traditional Thai house. .
