WEEK 20 DATE OF PREPARING: 08 / 1 /2010 PERIOD 55 DATE OF TEACHING: 11 / 1/2010 UNIT 9 : A FIRST-AID COURSE LESSON1 : GETTING STARTED + LISTEN AND READ I/ Objectives: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to know how to give first-aid in some cases. Ss also know how to make requests, offers, promises and answers them. II/ Language contains: 1. Vocabulary: first-aid, burn, bleed, bee sting, bandage, medicated oil, ice gab, alcohol, emergency, ambulance, conscious, handkerchief, lane… 2. Structure: Passive form III/ Technique: pair work, group work, question and answer, brainstorming IV/ Teaching aids: Text books, stereo, pictures, tape. V/ Teaching procedures: Activities Contents 1/Warm up : chatting T : Have you ever cut yourself? Ss answers the question. T: What would you do in that situation? Ss answers the question. What would you do in these cases? T helps Ss with difficult words. 2/Pre-Reading: List things used for first-aid Ss answer T pre-teach vocabularies (Vietnamese is acceptable) Ss read the words after the T T gives Ss task1 before listening. II/ Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: I’m afraid not, snake, bite, stretcher, eye chart, crutches, wheel chair, scale Review: headache, fever, cold, break, vase 2. Vocabulary: fainting, patient, force, elevate, lower, revise, victim, so as to, in order to, minimize, tissue damage… 2.
