Structure of a dendrimer includes core, branched interior layers known as ‘generation’ and periphery (surface group) Characteristic features of dendrimers • isolated as a monodisperse single compound • the properties of dendrimers (e.g., solubility, chemical reactivity, glass transition temperature) are dominated by the nature of the end groups • dendritic growth is mathematically limited linear polymer growth that theoretically can continue ad infinitum • Viscosity: decrease in dependence with increase in dendrimer generation after a maxima is reached APPLICATION OF DENDRIMERS Dendrimers are application in many fields such as catalysis, materials, biological (delivery devices)… Figure 2.
