WARM-UP: (7’) Review the previous lesson (reported speech) - Give Ss 5 sentences and ask Ss to do the task: Choose the best answer: 1. Review the form and the use of conditional sentence type 1 - Give an example first: Ex: If you need a friend, I’ll be there. (if-clause) (main clause) If he works harder, he will succeed in his examination. (if-clause) (main clause) - Ask Ss some questions: How many clauses are there? Usage: We use the first conditional to talk about actions or events in the future which are likely to happen or have a real possibility of happening. PRACTICE: * Exercise 1: (5’) - Ask pupils to work in groups to study the hopes of HA ANH and make sentences with IF clause. - Ask Ss to work in pairs and write down the sentences. - Call on some Ss to read their answers in front of the class. - Give the correct answers. Usage: When the “if clause” expresses a negative condition, “unless” can be used to replace if + negative form of the auxiliary verb. There is no change in - Whole class meaning. Note: Unless clause is never in negative form. PRACTICE and PRODUCTION: (10’) - Teacher guides students to do the exercises.
