Rendering a Video Using VRay Programs needed for tutorial: 3D Studio Max VRay Rendering System Photoshop CS or Photoshop 7 ImageReady CS or ImageReady 7 Reason for tutorial: The reason for making this tutorial is because as many of us have tried to render an animation using VRay in 3D Studio Max, there have been many problems with it. One main problem we all have encountered is the flickering of the video when it is played. I will explain the reason for this later. Reason for Video Flicker: There have been many ideas on why this unfortunate defect occurs but all have been, well in a very blunt way of saying this, they have all been wrong. The reason for this effect is the randomness of radiosity which VRay uses. Method of Creating a Video Using VRay: In order to obtain the end product we a striving for I will use a method that is slightly time consuming, but it will get the job done with out the nasty video flicker. I will use a sequence of images rendered using VRay and then compile them using Photoshop. You may use a different video compiler if you wish, just make sure that the compiler can compile a sequence of images. Rendering Image Sequence in 3DStudio Max: 1) Setup your scene with the animation you want 2) Open the Render Dialog menu Press F10 Rendering>Render 3) In the Render Dialog select the frames you wish to render 4) Select the image output you wish to export the image sequence as Compiling the Image Sequence in Photoshop 1) First we need to open ImageReady so that we can import the images as an image sequence 2) Now go to the menu you shown in the picture below 3) Select the folder in which the image sequence is contained 4) Now switch back to Photoshop 5) After you have edited your images sequence in Photoshop if you need to, go back to ImageReady 6) Now go to the export and choose Original Document 7) Select the Quick Time Movie format from the Save As Type drop-down menu 8) Click and Save and you will be prompted with the following menu 9) Select your Compressions Setting you wish to choose.
