To view the more traditional looking interface, click: [From the Ribbon] File  System  Systems settings. Go to the Effects tab and put a check in the box in front of Classic user interface and click OK. To return to the ribbon interface, uncheck the box. There is no guarantee this option will be available after Petrel 2014. A few new Icons appear in version 2014, dealing with the uncertainty of a wellbore plan, but will not be discussed here. Toolbar Changes: 2014 'Classic' vs 2014 'Ribbon' interface The traditional toolbar has been replaced by user customizable toolbar in 2014. When in “Ribbon” mode, the user can select additional pull-down menu items or by right-clicking on input folder data items. Add new tools to this toolbar by right-clicking on an object; right-clicking on a choice under the menu that appears (such as Copy as surface attribute) and then choosing Add to Quick Access Toolbar. To access the Tool Palette, click on any option on a ribbon that contains a red toolbox. The two examples shown below are the Home and Structural Modeling ribbons.
