Sarah James is a second year biology student. “Money is a big problem”, said Sarah. “I can eat quite cheaply at the university, but I spend quite a lot on transport. I also spend quite a lot on clothes, as I like to wear things that are in fashion.” Colin Peters, who is studying engineering, disagree. “I don't spend anything on clothes,” he said, “unless you count climbing boots. I'm very keen on climbing, and you do need special equipment, some of which is very expensive. Luckily, my parents gave me money for my birthday in November. Not much of my money goes on transport, because I have a bicycle.” Diana Bell is a first year fashion student. “I make on my own clothes. This should save me money, but in fact, the materials are very expensive. I don't know how I would manage if I didn't sell some of the dresses and hats I make to the other students. Everything is expensive,” she said. “That includes the rent, food, transport and heating for the flat in winter.” Jack is a science student in his final year. “What do I spend my money on? Well, not on clothes, and not a lot on going out in the evening. My rent is expensive, and I suppose I spend quite a lot on books.” 1. This is from _________ . A. a student's notebook. In other words, we do not educate children only for the purpose of educating them. Our purpose is to fit them for life. In some modern countries it has , for some time, been fashionable to think that by free education for all – whether rich or poor, clever or stupid – one can solve all the problems of society and build a perfect nation. But we can already see that free education for all is not enough’ we find in a such countries a large number of people with university degree; they refuse to do what they thing “low” work; and, in fact, work with hands is thought to be dirty and shameful in such countries. But we have only to think a moment to understand that the work of a completely uneducated farmer is far more important than that of a professor; we can live without education, but we die if we have no food. If no one cleaned our streets and took the rubbish away from our house, we should get terrible diseases in your towns. In fact, when we say that all of us must be educated to fit us for life, it means that we must be educated in such a way that, firstly, each of us can do whatever work suited to our brains and ability and, secondly, that we can realize that all jobs are necessary to society, and that is very bad to be ashamed of one’s work. Only such a type of education can be considered valuable to society. 1. The writer of the passage thinks that _________ . A. all the social problems can’t be solved by education. B. education can settle most of the world’s problems. C. free education for all probably leads to a perfect world. D. free education won’t help to solve social problems. 2. The writer wants to prove that _________ . A. a farmer is more important than a professor B. our society needs free education for all C. our society needs all kinds of jobs. D. people with high education refuse to do what they think “low” work. 3. According to the passage _________ . A. work with hands is dirty and shameful B. we can’t regard work with hands as “low” work C. work with hands is low work D. work with hands is the most important 4. The purpose of education is _________ . A. to choose a system of education B. to prepare children mainly for their future work C. to let everyone receive education fit for him D. to build a perfect world 5. The passage tells us about ___________ of education. A. the means B. the system C. the value D. the type ĐỪNG SAO CHÉP NGUYÊN VĂN VÀ ĐẨY LÊN LẠI NHƯ BÀI “ CẨM NANG ON THI TỐT NGHIỆP “ NGHE ANH : NGUYỄN TẤN TÀI. . ON TAP KIEM TRA 1 TIET LAN 2.
