UNIT 1: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF … A. READING I. Aims : Develop Ss’ reading skill, help Ss practice reading the text: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF … II. Objectives : By the end of the lesson my students will be able to understand the text and use the new words through activities such as speaking, asking and answering questions. III. Skills : + Main skill: Reading + Sub skills: Speaking – Listening - Writing IV. Teaching aids : Pictures, handouts, … V. Procedures : STAGES / TIMING TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES I. WARM-UP: 4’ II. PRE-READING: 8’ • Activity 1 : • Activity 2 : • Activity 3 : - Asks questions about daily routines. 1. What time do you often get up / go to school / have breakfast / lunch / dinner / go to bed? 2. What do you often do in the morning/ afternoon / evening? - Gives feedback. - Introduces the new lesson: Unit 1: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF … A. READING - Shows pictures and introduces new words. + What are their jobs? + Where are they working? + What animal is it? + What are they doing? - Asks Ss to do exercise in H/O 1. H/O 1: Pick out some activities which Vietnamese farmers usually do every day. singing karaoke, leading the buffalo to the field, getting up early, preparing meals for family, doing homework, chatting with friends, learning lesson, taking care of children, repairing the blanks of the plot of land, teaching, pumping water, transplanting, ploughing and harrowing, drinking tea, correcting exercises - Asks Ss to do exercise in H/O 2, guess what Mr. Vy and Mrs. Tuyet usually do each day. - Answer the questions. (Ss’ answers can vary) - Take notes. - Learn new words + farmer (n) = peasant + harrow (v) plots of land + In the field + pump water + buffalo (n) + do the transplanting + plough (n) (v) * Pair-work: EA: leading the buffalo to the field, getting up early, preparing meals for family, chatting with friends, taking care of children, repairing the blanks of the plot of land, pumping water, transplanting, ploughing and harrowing, drinking tea * Group-work: III.
