Level: Pre-intermediate level. 3. Time: 45m (4 th period: from 10h to 10h 45) 4. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: • Read the information from a chart. • Write a paragraph describing the preparation for the Asian Games using future verb tenses. 5. Teaching aids: Textbook, Handouts. 6. Anticipated problems and solutions: • There may be lack of time, so Teacher has to prepare carefully before going to class. • Students may not have enough vocabulary to complete the task so T should be ready to assist them. PROCEDURE T Stages & Content T’s activities Ss’ activities 5 I. WARM-UP: Game: Hangman Game - Divides the class into two groups. Tell Ss they are going to guess a word in the teacher’s mind. This word has 8 letters. - Writes on the board: - (Ss can say out any letter in the alphabet. If they guess it correctly, the teacher will put it on its position, but if Ss guess a - Say out any 1 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ KEY: FACILITIES wrong letter, teacher starts to draw a hangman.) - If Ss can guess the word before the teacher finishes the hangman, they will win the game. If the teacher finishes the hangman before Ss guess the word, they will lose the game. - Checks Ss’ understanding of the instructions. Lead-in: Asks Ss - Suppose Vietnam is going to host the coming Asian Games. What facilities does our country need to have? - To go to the details, today we are going to write a paragraph to describe the preparations for the Asian Games. => Lead in the topic letter in the alphabet 1 II. WHILE- Activity 1: Writing sentences Activity 1 3 WRITING: - Asks Ss to use the information in the box and write a meaningful sentences, combining 1 with the phrases in column 2 (page 143) - Moves around the class to give help - Asks Ss to compare their answers Some suggested sentences: a. One more national stadium needs to be built. b. National sports centers and local stadium need to be upgraded because they are not in good conditions. c. We have to build more hotels with modern facilities to welcome foreign athletes and visitors. Ask Ss to write them on the board. Teacher gives Ss comments and corrections. Activity 2: Writing a composition - Asks Ss to write a paragraph about 120 words to describe the preparations of the coming Asian Games in Vietnam. - Moves around to give help if necessary. - Gives Ss limited time. - Use the information in the box and write a meaningful sentences, combining the verb in column 1 with the phrases in column 2 (page 143) Activity 2 - Write a paragraph. 5 IV.
