Trang 7CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCE THE TOPIC
1.1 Question
Today we are in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country, followed by an increasing demand for travel, making means of transportation become indispensable for everyone Especially with the development of the automobile industry in Vietnam today, the need to use cars in traffic is something that people consider and choose a lot because of the safety and convenience that they provide bring Originating from the above needs, many problems have arisen for auto mechanics and engineers who must equip themselves with the necessary knowledge about the systems on a car One of them is the car's lighting system, which helps drivers move safely at night
From the above needs, I chose the topic for my group "Research on the headlight system of Toyota Innova 2018"
1.2 Topic objective
- Synthesize knowledge gained in theory and practical sessions in class, thereby helping students improve their professional skills and independent research ability
- Draw the circuit diagram of the system to assemble the model for its operation, thereby selecting the appropriate components to assemble the circuit model and simulate the operation of the system from the theoretical basis given learn about
1.3 Content of the subject
- Learn the tasks and operating principles of the lighting system of the Toyota Innova 2018 Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of two types of lights, headlights and low beams, in the system
- Design the headlight and low beam system diagrams on protues software
- Analyze the operating principle of the circuit diagram of the headlight and high beam system on the Toyota Innova 2018
- Analyze some common damages and causes in the lighting system
Trang 81.4, Research methods
- Look up information in documents on the internet, repair documents, technical documents and circuit diagrams of the vehicle's headlight and low beam
systems
- Refer to the instructors’ opinions and suggestions
- Research how the components used to make the model work

Trang 9CHAPTER 2: THEORETICAL BASIS
2.1 Name origin, define:
In the car lighting system, there are many types of lights, two of them are headlights and low beams This is a basic and very important light system on most types of vehicles and they are often arranged at the front of the vehicle to ensure safety for the driver to see the road when driving at night
2.1.1 Name origin
The reason they are called headlights and low beams is because "this is a name borrowed from French: "phare"” and "code" The word phare in “"les phares d'automobiles" or "plein phare" means high beam lights on cars, or it also means lighthouse - a type of high beam light often used at sea Similarly, the word "code"
in the phrase "feux de croisement" means the low beam of a car”, Although quite complicated, most Vietnamese consumers often just call them headlights and low beams for easy remembering
2.1.2 Define
Headlight, is a type of lamp with strong lighting intensity, capacity of about 45W -70W and long lighting range (about 180m - 250m) Headlights provide higher visibility than conventional lights to help drivers at night see obstacles and signs from afar even when moving at high speed
Low beam lights, is a type of lamp with moderate lighting intensity and lighting
at close range (about 50m - 75m), the capacity of the lamp is in the range of 35W - 40W The brightness and illumination range of the lights are carefully calculated so
as not to affect the vehicle in front or the vehicle on the opposite side High-beam headlights with low beam angles help drivers observe road surface conditions at close range, but that makes handling situations while moving more difficult 2.2 Mission
2.2.1, Headlight
Because of its high lighting intensity and high lighting angle, drivers often use headlights on deserted roads with little traffic at night so as not to obstruct visibility
Trang 10and cause discomfort to oncoming vehicles, when traveling on the highway, or before going through blind curves at night
The task of headlights is to help illuminate a far and wide range ahead so that the driver can clearly see the road When drivers want to increase visibility ahead, they will turn on the lights in high-beam mode to observe, avoid obstacles and see signs on the road
In addition, headlights also serve as a light bulb to signal surrounding vehicles when traveling on roads where the use of horns is prohibited or between 10p.m and 5a.m Flash your headlights continuously about 3 to 4 times to signal vehicles moving in the opposite direction
2.2.2 Low beam light
Because it is a low beam light with moderate brightness, low beam lights are often used when driving at low speeds, or when traveling in cities or residential areas with many passersby The task of high beam lights is to illuminate the driver
so that he can see obstacles on the road in close range and avoid causing glare to surrounding vehicles
2.3 Advantage and disadvantage of headlight, low beam light
Criteria Headlight Low beam light
@ Can illuminate long and wide | @ There is moderate lighting so it distances does not cause discomfort to
@ Easy to see the road ahead, people around
clearly see signs Helps drivers clearly see the
@ Helps detect obstacles ahead road surface and surrounding Advantages so you can handle situations scenery at night
promptly Helps avoid potholes and
« Low maintenance and potholes when traveling on bad replacement costs roads
« High protection level so not
affected by water and dust
@ May reduce visibility for Limited forward visibility at vehicles ahead long distances
Disadvantages | # Causing blinding to oncoming Difficult to handle unexpected
drivers and — surrounding situations when moving at high pedestrians speed

Figure 2.12: Sturcture of Halogen headlight
This is the most commonly used lighting technology, most of which are built-in
on many popular quality cars Halogen lights provide good lighting, especially on roads with bad weather such as heavy rain or dense fog When turned on, the lamp will emit yellow light and uses the incandescent lamp principle to operate The lamp can illuminate with a capacity of 55kW for an average of about 1000 hours
