3 Cách dùng thì hiện tại đơn

Thì hiện tại đơn (The simple present) là một thì rất quan trọng trong tiếng Anh và được dùng thường xuyên để diễn tả:

- Thói quen hằng ngày.

Ex: They drive to the office every day (Hằng ngày họ lái xe đi làm.)

She doesn't come here very often (Cô ấy không đến đây thường xuyên.)

- Sự việc hay sự thật hiển nhiên.

Ex: We have two children (Chúng tôi có 2 đứa con.)

What does this expression mean? (Thành ngữ này có nghĩa là gì?)

- Sự việc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai theo thời gian biểu hay lịch trình.

Ex: Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year (Năm nay Giáng sinh rơi vào ngày thứ

Hai.)

The plane leaves at 5.00 tomorrow morning (Máy bay cất cánh vào lúc 5 giờ sáng ngàymai.)

- Suy nghĩ và cảm xúc tại thời điểm nói.

Tuy những suy nghĩ và cảm xúc này có thể chỉ mang tính nhất thời và không kéo dài, chúng ta vẫn dùng thì hiện tại đơn chứ không dùng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn

Ex: They don't ever agree with us (Họ chưa bao giờ đồng ý với chúng ta.)

She doesn't want you to do it (Cô ấy không muốn anh làm điều đó.)

4 Dấu hiệu nhận biết

Trong câu ở thì hiện tại đơn thường có các trạng từ chỉ tần suất và chúng được chiathành 2 nhóm:

 Nhóm trạng từ đứng ở trong câu:

- Always (luôn luôn) usually (thường xuyên), often (thường), sometimes (thỉnhthoảng), rarely (hiếm khi), seldom (hiếm khi), frequently (thường xuyên), hardly(hiếm khi), never (không bao giờ), regularly (thường xuyên)…

 Các trạng từ này thường đứng trước động từ thường, đứng sau động từ “tobe” và trợđộng từ

Ví dụ: He rarely goes to school by bus

 Nhóm trạng từ đứng ở cuối câu:

- Every day/ week/ month/ year (hàng ngày/ hàng tuần/ hàng tháng/ hàng năm)

- Once (một lần), twice (hai lần), three times (ba lần), four times (bốn lần)…

5 Cách thêm s/es vào sau động từ

Trong câu ở thì hiện tại đơn, nếu chủ ngữ là ngôi thứ 3 số ít (He/ She/ It/ Danh từ

số ít) thì động từ phải thêm đuôi s/es Dưới đây là các quy tắc khi chia động từ

Thêm “s” vào đằng sau hầu hết các động

+ Nếu trước “y” là một nguyên âm

(u,e,o,a,i)- ta giữ nguyên “y” + “s”

+ Nếu trước “y” là một phụ âm, ta đổi “y”

thành “i” + “es”
