Trang 4MAIN CONTENT
1.1 Concept
Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between different activities Get it right, and you'll end up working smarter, not harder, to get more done in less time – even when time is tight and pressures are high
Effective time management is the effective use of your time that allows you to plan your days in such a way that you finish your work with less effort and make the most of the limited time you’ve got
Effective time management doesn't mean doing more things at the same time or doing them more quickly It is about the process of making better use of your time We often think of effective time management as being about doing more things in less time But this is not always the case Sometimes, it's about doing the right things and doing them well Effective time management is about prioritizing tasks, managing distractions and setting realistic expectations for ourselves Effective time management means getting more of the work done in a day
1.2 Advantages of effective time management
Effective timing management helps us build a specific roadmap for work Scientists have claimed that setting a goal will make people focus better because they know what they should prioritize to save time, and list exactly the steps to finish that task
Effective time management eliminates distractions and boosts concentration Distraction impacts your time management and lowers your productivity When you manage time,
Trang 5work Then, you have more time to achieve bigger and better targets As a result, the quality of work is increased because you have more time to check it
Good time management prevents procrastination as well Take action Identify the three biggest causes of your procrastination and layout, the first action step you can take to eliminate each of the causes one by one When you are clear and focused on your goals, you spend more time working on your biggest priorities
That each task can be done easily makes us feel comfortable, stops overwhelmed and ensures we don’t feel tired all the time A good mood is also the reason why the quality
of work is greatly improved
When you know how to manage your time, you will realize all the bad habits before that are consuming your time, destroying your goals and procrastinating your success If you know how to manage your time, you have a greater focus on your most productive activities This helps build positive habits It also ensures you spend more time on the activities that help you reach your goals For example, when you know how to manage your time at reading a book, it will never happen when you surf Facebook or visit other websites And from that, it builds good habits and discipline Vietnamese people have the habit of working in an arbitrary, unscientific and undisciplined manner However, one benefit of time management is that you will work by specific rules and discipline Maybe
at first you will not get used to it, find it difficult but absolutely do not be discouraged, you need to slowly put yourself in order

II Time management situation of students at Thuong Mai university 2.1 Situation
2.1.1.The survey
Many current surveys on the use of time in students indicate that students have a lot of downtimes, they spend too much time surfing the web, sleeping, working part-time, or socializing with friends , Based on the above surveys, we have built a survey sample on how to use and manage time effectively for TMU student

Trang 8For TMU students, the percentage of students working part-time from 4-6 hours/day accounted for the highest rate of 36.2%, with 29.8% being the percentage of students who did not take time to work part-time and this rate is equal to the rate of students working from 2-4 hours/day Only 4.2% of students spend 8 hours/day on part-time jobs
According to statistics, TMU students spend most of their time on entertainment and account for 42.6% The percentage of free time spent sleeping comes in second at 25.5% For TMU students, spend more time reading and cultivating knowledge than hanging out with friends with 23.4% and 8.5% respectively

Trang 9tasks you proposed, most of them are interrupted by the reason that they do not know what to do first First (accounting for 59.3%), the fast-boring factor is chosen quite a lot (with 54.2%) The psychological factor of fear of failure and fear of collision (accounting for 25.4%) only 13.6% of the students did not delay their work
According to statistics TMU students pay attention to time planning only occasionally with 66% 21.2% are regular Finally, 12.8% are not planning to do the work
We offer 5 levels of planned work completion with 1-didn’t finish and 5-done well From the results obtained, we can see that the level of work planning of the students only stops
at "sometimes" and the adherence to the outlined plan is only at an average level of
Trang 10quality of work as well as the amount of completed work only stops at relative but not perfect work And the rate of degree completing the work at 5 is extremely low, 5.1% shows that the students have no investment and responsibility with the work plan that has been set up
2.1.2 Situation
Students spend little time self-studying:
On average, a university student of Commerce will register for 8 subjects, equivalent to the average time in a day to study from 4-6 hours, not to mention other subjects such as foreign languages, Accumulating basic and professional knowledge is essential for students' future work, but they have too little time for cultivating and self-studying this knowledge This is also an original reason for an unemployed rate when students graduate, weak skills and knowledge, and the shortage of good staff
Students spend rather lots of time working part-time jobs:
From the data of the chart, we can see that, on average, students spend time on part-time work at a pretty high rate However, the number of overtime hours is not too much and it will not affect their schedule if they have a scientific and reasonable time arrangement
Students don’t know how to take advantage of their free time:
Through the above data, we can conclude that the time used by students of Thuong Mai University is not reasonable Most of the students spend most of their free time on relaxation and entertainment instead of self-study, mental and physical training This is an alarming sign for the current generation of students, wasting precious time on useless things
Students don’t know how to manage their time effectively:
Trang 11alarming situation of today's students generation It is not reasonable to use the time of students of the University of Commerce Most of the students spend most
of their free time on relaxation and entertainment instead of self-study, mental and physical training
This is an alarming sign for the current generation of students, spending their precious time on useless things This is also the explanation for why Vietnam is currently at a golden population and abundant labor but so many people are unemployed while companies are still looking for suitable candidates
In the era when the world is developing more and more, technology is gradually replacing people in some professions, unemployment is becoming a big threat Businesses are trying to find talent like a needle in a haystack in the Vietnamese labor market because of the low quality of labor
With such a market situation, it is obvious that students must actively work on improving themselves, accumulating as much experience as possible, trying to build a solid foothold, but most Students are the opposite It can be said that you are not strict, loose with yourself, enjoy enjoyment, lazy, always passive in everything This is also the explanation for why Vietnam is currently at a golden population and abundant labor but so many people are unemployed while companies are still looking for suitable candidates
2.2 Solution
Making a list helps you to organize your tasks better Write down all the tasks that you need to complete You don’t need to worry about their order now, you can re-organize it later, now you have to make sure you don’t forget anything If you want to do your task effectively you should break your large tasks into small steps For example, if your task is improving your English, you should write down how you are going to do it You can take
Trang 12writing and speaking Ideally, tasks or action steps should take no longer than 1-2 hours
to complete
You may find it easier to compile several lists (covering personal, study, and workplace, for example) Try different approaches and figure out what is the best for your own situation
Making a list of all the tasks also helps you to memorize all the tasks you have to do When there are too many tasks, you can be confused about where to start Making a list will help you You should organize your to-do list by workflow, priority, or due date You can track their progress and deadline and you can make sure you don’t miss a single task After that, you should organize the tasks’ deadline into an order of time, then you will know what task is urgent or not
Not all tasks are important Sometimes, there are tasks that are unnecessary and you can totally delete or cancel them Although this is mainly based on your personal judgment, the Eisenhower Matrix will help you to prioritize your tasks based on two factors: importance and urgency
There are 4 basic types of tasks:
- Urgent and important: these tasks should be highly prioritized and should be done immediately Highly recommended, you should complete this type of task on the same day You can mark this type of task as “DO – Do it now”
- Not urgent but important: you should be careful with this type of task because it can
be forgotten easily You should pay attention to these tasks as it makes long-term success in your life and productivity in your work, but don’t require immediate action
It needs a proper schedule You can mark this type of task as “SCHEDULE – Plan for later”
- Urgent but not important: this type of task may seem important but it is actually not You may not have enough skills and/or time to perform them now This type of tasks
Trang 13tasks don’t belong to you and should be delegated to others to maintain maximum productivity You can mark this type of task as “DELEGATE – Who else can do it?”
- Not urgent and not important: eliminate them from your schedule This type of task
is usually time-consuming and it will definitely reduce your productivity You can mark this type of task as “IGNORE – Not useful”
After finishing a task, cross it It will let you know if you finish your tasks or not It is not only a way to track your tasks but also a way to cheer your hard work It is always good
to see how far you have got That little check mark gives you a sense of accomplishment
It is a good way to mark your achievement and motivate you It could be a sense of pride
in a job well-done Other times it might be the relief of finally completing that task which
is long past due This kind of thought will give you the will to complete the next task
If you have too many tasks, don’t be a perfectionist Don’t put too much attention on small details It will slow down your progress and it will affect other tasks You may not have enough time to finish the next task
Here are some tips you can use to avoid being a perfectionist
- Set production standards for your task: physically speaking, perfection is unnecessary and time-consuming as it is nearly impossible So one way to avoid this
is that you set a production standard or standards, for tasks you complete on a regular basis When you have a certain standard for a task, you can work on the task, complete it, and move on to something else
- Save your energy for the important task: you don’t have all day to wonder which one is better It is useless and even sometimes makes you stressed if you overthink So the solution is to ask a colleague or friend for their unbiased opinion They’re bound
to give you some helpful and brutally honest feedback feedback Once you’ve re-centered yourself, you can focus on the work that is really important to you
