Is textbook structure irrational? or Don’t they know how to learn? It is intonation and sound Any language has its own intonation and sound In Vietnam, in particular, and many countries in the world people find it difficult to learn English pronunciation like a native standard for sound and intonation The main factors cause this problem may be mentioned Firstly, new sounds appear in English that not appear in Vietnamese , and they make the students feel hard to be accurate pronunciation Take for example: with audio /ʤ / When listening through the spelling of this consonant, the student think that it is simple, but the reality is quite different Many students can not pronounce properly and easily frustrate with the way of pronoucing, not to mention the other sounds Secondly, The students have already been accustomed to the sounds in Vietnamese, the parts make up the sound, especially as the tongue, lips, teeth are very difficult to adjust to the correct pronunciation in English Students find themselves powerless to control them according to English, more or less, the intonation of sentences in Vietnamese into English will be affected, or if not, it will take a lot of time to study and modify In general, when learning phonetic of a foreign language, students see eye to eye with difficulties of intonation and sounds.So the important thing is how to overcome them and achieve the ultimate goal to use that language as a second language Effortly, perseverance and impatience have helped many people succeed in learning foreign languages 2.3.2 Learning the phonetic symbols used in the lessons of practising phonetic in English Everyone who starts learning a foreign language must learn the rules of pronunciation because it is very important to correctly pronounce The main purpose of language learning is to be able to communicate with people, but bad pronunciation can cause unnecessary misunderstandings Therefore, the rules of pronounciation is important for foreign language learners From the first period of the program in English (an introduction), I spent a lot of time to introduce the students to pass on the international phonetic symbols that they will have to get used to in the process of studying English At first, they might not understand and know nothing about it But that does not mean that later they will not understand anything about it In introducing the symbols table, there is the International Phonetic symbols and its corresponding sounds in Vietnamese to make students easy to imagine Even though, getting to know deeply about International Phonetic symbols helps the students This experience initiative has been put into practice in my first semester of the school year 2016-2017 for students in grade of pilot program The colleagues visited and expressed their sympathy with this approach and have introduced for grades CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 3.1 Conclusions Through teaching practice, I personally discovered the problems that students have been having difficulty in learning a forein language, especially the phonetics even though some teachers find it embarrassed during teaching After applying these methods into teaching phonetics, the results are much higher than when I didn’t improve teaching methods, it has motivated me to constantly strive to achieve results further in teaching.With the adoption of initiatives to teach,the first step has been achieved certain successes A number of students pronunced incorecctly during class hours have dropped a lot, and especially the children no longer feel afraid, bored with phonetic learning, communicating their English was upwards confident than before Therefore, the English classes are now more exciting I have had my small contribution to the achievements of my school, put my school gets the targets that we had set I will try to maintain the aforementioned methods and constantly learn and exchange with colleagues to take time to teach more effectively In this project I tried to exploit and explore methods of teaching a part of pronunciation in secondary school and go on analyzing the causes, factors affecting the method to find out specific measures, so that given the specific methods to students However, the restriction is inevitable 3.2 Recommendations The education and training office should establish forums for teachers to share their experience initiative in order to improve the quality of teaching English at schools Thuong Xuan eduaction and training division should organize English Speaking clubs by school groups so as to create a useful language playground for students Above is a subjective opinion of my own on improving pronunciation in English for Thuong Xuan Town Secondary school’s students With my limited knowledge, I am surely have a flaw in my experience
