export is considered to have the potential for future development As we can see, in terms of GDP (current US dollars) it hits the record as the 41st largest economy in the world Meanwhile, this figure in total imports and exports is 16 and 18 even though the economy has been affected by Covid - 19 and the trade war between the US and China Ocean shipping plays a huge role in an industry operating in the field of freight transport, cultural interference, tourism service promotion, etc Moreover, this activity is not limited to the country, so it has expanded to many areas As a result, further economic development is promoted Specifically, international sea freight can increase the inflow of foreign currency into the country, take advantage of the balance of payments (BOP) and create some changes in the economic structure Turning to reality Palm Logistics Company provides international transportation services by sea The goal is to provide a well-coordinated and professional flight - every time The company always has many activities such as preparing goods, loading and unloading goods; clearance and presentation are guaranteed 24/7 Due to the negative and positive impact of COVID - 19, the operation of the process has changed to match the current times I noticed that Palm Logistics Company had some problems measuring time when it was unable to adapt to changes in technology, location, and method during the export of a shipment To better understand the difference between theory and practice, I chose the topic "The process of importing cargoes by sea transport under FCL at Palm Logistics Co., Ltd” as the subject of the Professional Internship Report The content of the Professional Internship Report consists of chapters: Chapter 1: Introduction to Palm Logistics Co., Ltd Chapter 2: The process of freight forwarding services by sea under FCL at Palm Logistics Co., Ltd Chapter 3: Some recommendations and solutions to improve the efficiency of import freight forwarding services at Palm Logistics Co., Ltd CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION TO PALM LOGISTICS CO., LTD 1.1 Information about Palm Logistics Company Palm Logistics Company was established in 2012 In 2015, Palm services, such as import and export, local and international shipping by air and sea, customs brokerage, warehousing, and packaging, among others They have been offering logistical business solutions, international freight forwarding, and all shipping agencies A positive reputation encourages repeat business and keeps them focused on their objectives and in touch with reality Offerings made by Palm Logistics Company are actually helpful to their clients and agents • Company name in English: PALM LOGISTICS AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY LIMITED • Company name in Vietnamese: CÔNG TY TNHH History of establishment 2011 Difficult time 2013 Start working 2012 Established year 2022 to be continued 2014 Top Brands 2011 Following the financial crisis and the global economic slump, this is the most difficult moment for both the world economy and the Vietnamese economy Several incidents occurred during this time period, including the US-China currency war, the domino effect of Europe's financial crisis and policy failures, and the Wall Street protest Furthermore, "shocks" such as Japan's earthquake and tsunami calamity, Thailand's floods, social upheaval, the spread of the "Arab Spring" in North Africa and the Middle East, and Europe's record-breaking cold winter have all had an influence on the global economy In a rapidly globalizing world, the outside environment harmed Vietnam's economy in 2011, causing serious problems within the economy Many evident things will make a declaration and return the results to the enterprise in step 6, That's the end of inspections step Step 6: Withdraw the declaration can be obtained on ECUS5/VNACCS software or ask the customs to print it for you Step 7: Issue the Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) Declare on the Eport web to print EIR slip (remember to check the information: number of containers, number of seals, location, term, code) Step 8: Liquidation of declarations Compare the declaration on Eport web while declaring and printing the container delivery note – go back to step Step 9: Pick up goods On the Eport web clearance status to Yes, the car can come in to pick up the goods And No, the cont does not match Step 10: Return the empty container and get the container bet back After taking the goods to the warehouse, the carrier must return the empty container to the shipping line at the right place and within the time limit specified on the container loan After returning the empty container, they will receive a confirmation that the empty container has been returned We can bring this paper together with the container loan paper to the shipping company to get back the container bet in step Step 11: Final settlement and recordkeeping After delivery is complete, the forwarder will list the items and costs incurred such as shipping fees, customs fees, shipping fees with invoices, and additional costs without invoices The director of the company will review the payment statement, if there is any unreasonable point, he will ask the delivery staff for a specific explanation, if accepted, the director will sign and stamp for certification The Company's accountant will summarize that payment into a Debit Note and send it to the client company (including the service fee that your company has provided to the customer) and send it to the customer 23 After the customer has finished paying, the staff of the document department will return all documents to the client company: - Customs declaration (01) original and (01) declaration barcode; - Tax notice (01) original; -The company's customs service invoice (01) original; - Detailed list (01) original; The company retains a copy to save as the basis for dispute if any is attached to the income statement: - Customs declaration: (01) copy; - Foreign trade contract: (01) copy; - Commercial invoice: (01) copy; - Bill of lading: (01) copy Submit documents to the following departments: - Document department: 01 dispatch sheet, 01 detailed declaration of goods - Warehouse customs: 01 official letter (with customs seal for comparison); 01 set of documents including (01 detailed declaration of goods, 01 set of manifest or attached bills) - Warehouse: 01 official dispatch (with seal of warehouse customs); 01 set of documents including (01 list; 01 manifest or attached bills) Figure 16: Debit Note 24 2.2 Evaluation of the operational process 2.2.1 Benefits In the first place, all importing operations, particularly by sea, are handled with care as a result of collaboration and coordination across Palm Logistics Company's departments In addition, the delivery personnel here closely adheres to the norms of regulations governing importing operations in general, and for timber logs in particular Aligned with the coherence and compactness of the human resource structure, the productivity of Palm Logistics Company has been maintained during the first decade of work due to the consistency of their performance as well as how their jobs are fully allotted concisely and on time Second, Palm Logistics Company works directly with international businesses, eliminating the need for additional expenses for middlemen or intermediaries The related expenses are greatly reduced with the adoption of such direct contact because there is no need for another third party to enter, hence boosting the company's share of profit in the end Furthermore, Palm Logistics Company communicates often with their trading partners, allowing the two parties to deal comfortably, knowing that there would be no deviations or distractions created by having several parties Therefore, good business ties with other shipping lines and agents benefit Palm Logistics Company since their job is completed efficiently and without succumbing to unforeseen events with the assistance of other organizations in the Industry Third, transport by sea, along with improved abroad ties, offers Palm Logistics Company an advantage over the bulk of local competitors For being a good trading partner, Palm Logistics Company frequently selects the most prolific Incoterms to trade wooden logs with More rooms and capacity are available at a relatively low cost when accompanied by the cost-effectiveness of Waterways modes of transportation Lastly, in the importing process stages outlined above, producing a collection of strong (complete) import papers is the backbone that determines the likelihood of success for each transaction To that end, the corporation employs L/C, or Letter of Credit, to 25 maintain credit risks at an all-time low A letter of credit is therefore worthwhile and safer to open with the assistance of both the notifying and issuing institutions Only after receiving the importing set of paperwork from the seller (exporter) can the buyer (importer) open the Letter of Credit to pay the exporter In this case, the notifying bank will be the one to collect the necessary paperwork for customs clearance and hand them over to the buyer if he or she pays in the number specified in the documentation 2.2.2 Decided drawbacks To begin with, certain logistics organizations may find the arduous and timeconsuming procedure of importing to be unpleasant and time-consuming Ironically, money and workers must also be deployed to ensure the success of importing In particular, the process from obtaining a Delivery Order (D/O) to delivering items to clients can be time-consuming since delivery personnel must verify the required documentation and deal with customs processes To overcome this constraint, delivery personnel should be adaptable to their circumstances by doing either of the foreseen operations first Secondly, during the electronic declaration platform phase, the technological knowhow and abilities necessary to open a Declaration may not be fully used On the contrary, most logistics companies must start short-term training sessions on a daily basis to teach staff how to utilize the electronic customs declaration platform In other words, having those courses up and operating would require additional fees The cause for this will be attributed to employee alienation due to such newly-developed software To get that out of the way, it is in Palm Logistics Company's best interests to hire smart people who have had previous experience utilizing these types of systems for an extended length of time Aside from that, our practically obsolete technology infrastructure continues to suffocate our computerized customs declaration system The unfriendliness of the website's design is also considered If there are too many useless details on the screen, the delivery personnel of any logistics provider may not understand the entire concept at once Thirdly, in the initial phase, the Palm Logistics Company sales team must thoroughly check the paperwork from the clients Because Palm Logistics Company 26 employees are just human, mistakes and variations in the process of reviewing the papers are unavoidable To avoid this, it is critical to establish an acceptable pace or timetable that the employees can readily follow in an efficient manner Fourthly, for newbies to the exporting industry, the historical order of these importing operations might be perplexing at first If not done correctly and optimally, the results can be terrible for the most part Palm Logistics Company must teach its personnel on these premises step by step to expose them to the fast-paced nature of this profession in order to follow the right sequence Only in this manner are the Palm Logistics Company 's delivery personnel acquainted with how an importing operation in general, and customs clearance in particular, may appear in a real-world example Last but not least, the author has observed that the employees of Palm Logistics Company in Thu Duc City appear to have a diverse set of vocabulary and other Business English terminology Adequate in nature, the writer would want them to add to their Academic English vocabulary as frequently as feasible However, Academic English courses should be included in staff training programs CHAPTER 3: RECOMMENDATIONS AND SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF IMPORT FREIGHT FORWARDING SERVICES AT PALM LOGISTICS CO., LTD 3.1 Solutions Some suggestions for improving the company's importing process: Employee Capabilities To begin, in order to maximize the customer's academic ability, Palm Logistics Company should urge its staff to enroll in English classes, particularly Academic English This creates more benefit than damage since the framework in which people conduct economic transactions is integrated To be more explicit, every member of staff would need to comprehend and command at least a reasonable amount of English Training classes delivering English articles with ex-pat teachers are frequently advised to make this 27 achievable This allows Palm Logistics Company personnel to connect and share information with their partners in a precise and clean manner Second, long-term and short-term Logistics Orientation seminars are required, as they provide numerous controlled types and a perfect situation for practicing case studies centered on logistics-based initiatives In exchange, the time required to produce importexport documents would be reduced As a result, additional resources and time may be saved for executing other company ideas in the future Regardless, creating a set of documentation documents for importation on the "ECUS" —an Internet-based customs clearance—might be difficult for certain novice workers if they join the Palm Logistics Company cast later on To avoid this, Palm Logistics Company can provide a well-written and straightforward job description requiring certificates in Computer Science or the specific MOS for individuals to be lawfully qualified Lastly, policies like wages, bonuses, vacations, maternity leave, and the like should be properly implemented with allowances and other rewards for distinguished persons (employees of the month) to boost worker morale at Palm Logistics Company Because the human aspect is the most crucial in Logistics transactions, this act might serve as a "carrot and stick" technique to inspire personnel Employees can feel recognized for their efforts, enhancing productivity as much as feasible Increase your investment in technology-based assets Given the ideas discussed by the manager of the Waterways Department with the author, it would be excellent for them to build more modern vehicles, pallets, and warehouses to enhance Palm Logistics Company’s operations Palm Logistics Company, which is on the approach of becoming a financially self-sustaining corporation by producing on their own, would need to prepare for the production lines by purchasing more equipment from the market After a certain amount of time, the original expenditures paid in buying these assets would be offset by profits flowing into the organization 28 Palm Logistics Company's website should also be improved to fulfill the informational needs of potential consumers When browsing the website, the author proposes that they spend more money on this topic to boost the happiness and first impression of new clients Moreover, Palm Logistics Company should purchase a management software system from another service company in order to control the KPIs of the company Developing a Customer Service Department Palm Logistics Company should give clients with consultant services on the following topics: import and export strategic alliances, critical contract conditions that customers should be aware of before entering into a contract, recommended shipping lines, pricing quotations, certifications of origin, and phytosanitary, to mention a few They should also implement after-sales measures to discourage returning clients This can only be accomplished if they are prepared to create a network of clients and try to form relationships with them from there This newly formed department would be most suited to maintaining Palm Logistics Company's revenue streams Furthermore, the expenses of retaining existing consumers would be cheaper than those of acquiring new ones As a result, when consumers believe that they are being treated fairly for the money they paid and that the services supplied by Palm Logistics Company are adequate, Palm Logistics Company will save money 3.2 Working environment 3.2.1 Internal environment Palm Logistics Co., Ltd.'s organizational structure is clearly and logically dispersed in each department According to the features of each department, the divisions are separated into tasks, responsible, and reasonably responsible However, tight cooperation is maintained, making the procedure more convenient Human resources structure 29 The majority of the company's personnel have university and college degrees, have received professional training, and have a strong sense of learning and responsibility The average age of firm personnel is 26 years old; youthful and energetic human resources are eager to contribute and think creatively to help the company expand The delivery section is largely made up of young, healthy, and enthusiastic people who match the job's criteria To ensure justice and happiness for each employee, wage and bonus regime regulations are always clear, transparent, prompt pay, and have a productivity-based salary guarantee The company has an acceptable working culture and regime, appropriate for the business sector, in compliance with the laws on working hours along with the volume of days off and holidays in accordance with the Vietnamese government's current Labor Law Female employees, in particular, are always treated equally and granted the specified perks The organization closely adheres to each phase of the recruiting procedure, thoroughly assessing and screening candidates This aids in the recruitment of qualified people and is in line with the company's needs Technical infrastructure Meeting rooms, director rooms, computers, telephones, printers, photocopiers, air conditioning systems, fans, and lighting, among other things, are fully equipped at the workplace to suit the demands of employees The company's forwarding services are diverse and fully satisfy the demands of various customers, including carrying products by sea, land, and air, customs declaration, and services Import/export consignment, warehouse services, and so on Cheap pricing plan, fair cost, compatible with the firm's capabilities, particularly with the consumer group that the company serves 3.2.2 External environment Tariff and non-tariff barriers 30 On this end, Palm Logistics Company will struggle to import timber logs from other countries to Vietnam for the following reasons To begin, Vietnam customs officials closely adhere to a series of non-tariff rules in order to limit the number of timber logs coming into the country Specifically, phytosanitary, technical, and quota barriers are some of the well-known barriers employed by the Vietnamese Communist Party to prohibit foreign goods from entering Vietnam The reason for this is due to the domestic forestry sector is not as sophisticated as those in other countries, thus the national leaders would all possible to support the well-being of such local enterprises while controlling the performance of expatriate rivals at all costs This is a disastrous outcome for Palm Logistics Company since they will have to pay some "under-the-table" or bribe money in order to get the products to their final destination To make matters worse, tariff barriers are among the most expensive obstructions encountered It is necessary to pay out a large volume of money, which is based on several calculation methods discussed in International Business (by percentage or by quantity), in order for the transaction to be completed It goes without saying that Palm Logistics Company has no influence over these circumstances Legal framework Vietnam, being a country that respects civil law, poses various risks when importing goods from other countries On a bigger scale, Palm Logistics Company must follow its laws to the point that every action must be carried out legally Given the fixed character of civil law, any breach or fraud is clearly recorded in the book, and the Vietnamese government expects its citizens to follow those norms of conduct The number of imported timber logs cannot now exceed a certain amount in this scene alone Thinking about it, they must be adaptable to the international company by importing timber logs in distinct batches to lower the number of commodities in each container Even if they are discovered importing a huge amount of items, the legal system in this country works to their advantage in terms of the penalty they must pay Due to the immobile nature of civil law, a little quantity of money is anticipated to be given to dive into the knowledge, which has long been practiced for years in the past and other important legal books "Every coin has two 31 sides," as the saying goes, and this is one of the external influences that Palm Logistics Company must consider Political influences Despite being recently emancipated to become a Communist country, the habit of accepting gifts, bribes, and disappearing overnight is extremely prevalent in Vietnam Customs officials may no longer be interested in completing their jobs properly in the future In that case, they will try to stymie the process of importing products in general, and timber logs in particular, in the hopes of reaping some personal gains All things considered, that is not an unusual occurrence At that point, extra funds must be taken in order to satisfy those compromised individuals and allow Palm Logistics Company delivery people to access the containers Palm Logistics Company should keep this in mind if they wish to well in the far future since they rank high on the metrics of the most corrupted countries As early as the 1950s, Westerners viewed Vietnam's political situation to be the most significant item to acknowledge According to the author, Palm Logistics Company should strive to figure out the ideal technique to slither their way out of those heated and sticky circumstances Economic well-being Our S-shaped country's economy has recently been thriving as a result of different accords reached with other out-of-state governments As a result, Vietnam's trade openness is logically increased, with both export and import soaring with each step toward globalization and industrialization On the other hand, other nations' economies have been growing, albeit at a slower pace than Vietnam's These two variables are thus a great setting for Palm Logistics Company to exploit 3.3 Knowledge After months internship period as operation staff at Palm Logistics Company, I myself gain a handful of valuable knowledge and skills under the guidance of Mr Đặng Lê Duy I can confidently the export or import cargos process by sea alone, import 32 consolidations into the warehouse as well as flexibly improvise when the customs declaration has problems without the help of Mr Duy Every day as a trainee is a day when I am more mature myself, from thinking to attitude as well as skills, ability, and experiences Learn about the practice of export and import cargo forwarding by sea During my internship at the firm, I learned about the complete process of import and export freight forwarding through various forms of transportation, such as freight forwarding and sea freight forwarding Furthermore, I engaged with and worked directly with genuine papers, as well as visited actual warehouses and ports, to obtain a deeper grasp of how a company operates its forwarding operations Having the chance to get practical knowledge allows me to obtain more experience in import and export freight forwarding, which improves my understanding and contrasting theory and practice As a consequence of my internship at Palm Logistics Company, I got the valuable practical experience and had the opportunity to compare the unit's reality to the theory taught in school Furthermore, I can use the ideas I learned during my internship, which improves my capacity to apply and strengthens my specialized knowledge Improve my communication skills and workplace behavior 33 During my internship, I received hands-on experience with import and export freight forwarding operations and fulfilled various given duties By communicating with my business siblings and colleagues from various places throughout the duration of my project, I was able to enhance my communication skills and conduct in a genuine work setting Communication and behavioral abilities have become more adaptive, confident, and proactive Improve my computer skills I was assigned to work at the Palm Logistics Company Export-Import Department throughout my internship When I was assigned to input declarations at the Document Group, I had the opportunity to improve my knowledge of the company's VNACCS electronic customs declaration program I am also skilled in printing and exporting declarations I was able to strengthen my Excel computer abilities by entering client data for the company's co-workers Improve my teamwork abilities Palm Logistics Company is separated into divisions and groups that handle certain tasks The efficiency and accomplishment goals of each group are also calculated, making cooperation skills essential Working with you throughout my internship, notably with the Evidence Group and the Field Team, allowed me to strengthen my collaboration abilities, allowing me to effectively perform the allocated duties 34 CONCLUSION Recent years have witnessed that the Vietnamese authorities' integration program has provided numerous favorable conditions and chances for our country's freight forwarding businesses to flourish and develop Import and export concerns in general, and freight forwarding in particular, are continually subject to policy changes As a result, doing this work properly necessitates knowledge and expertise in the sector of overseas commerce With this difficulty in mind, the topic "The Process Of Importing Cargoes By Sea Transport Under FCL At Palm Logistics Co., Ltd" presents the most correct appraisal of the company's current status As the market in Vietnam is filled with other logisticsbased competitors all over the place, improvising the importing process of such commodities is utterly crucial for Palm Logistics Company to survive under such unnerving pressure and harsh conditions This project is carried out: (I) Introduction to Palm Logistics Co., Ltd, (II) The process of freight forwarding services by sea under FCL at Palm Logistics Co., Ltd, (III ) Some recommendations and solutions to improve the efficiency of import freight forwarding services at Palm Logistics Co., Ltd This firm has a total of 11 procedures for importing items in general that staff must complete every time a transaction is initiated In chronological order, we must get information from clients, review papers, receive D/O (Delivery Order) and Container bet (deposition), import products customs clearance, land at the site with an empty container, liquidate, and return documentation These are the ones that readers should keep in mind in order to have a thorough understanding of how Palm Logistics Company operates, particularly in the case of Waterways shipping The author's investigation has shown the issues that the firm is encountering while carrying out the delivery of imported items by sea Furthermore, I recommended certain ideas to finish the forwarding business so that the shipping and delivery process is faster and more effective, allowing the organization to save time and money With the dedicated guidance from Palm Logistics Co., Ltd as well as Mr Đặng Lê Duy, the author has completed the practical part and the general assessment of the import process at the 35 company I have come to grips with the inbred challenges that Palm must deal with in the midst of delivering imported items by sea To address the severity of these issues, the author has devised several workable alternatives for completing the importing and delivering operations on time Following these proposed ideas, the firm would be in a stronger position to seize the Logistics Industry's market share in Vietnam These ideas and proposals might range from enhancing the firm's technological facilities to investing the company's human capital in English and academic understanding training classes (Export/ Import Orientation workshops) to increase the performance of Palm Logistics Company In conclusion, having had the priceless chance to intern at Palm Logistics Company, the author has tremendous hopes that Palm will live up to its name sooner or later And that realization will and must be attained by the dedication and hard work of its dedicated and talented workers, who spend their time and effort to improve the company's brand image and perceived worth 36 REFERENCES Information about the company is
