field examines the impact of various factors on behavior within an organization The focus of organizational behavior tends to center around employee productivity For example, organizational behavior studies have shown that employees who feel valued and appreciated tend to be more motivated and productive, leading to increased profits for the organization However, organizational behavior can also focus on the ways in which organizations can better manage, change and improve behavior in order to achieve desired outcomes (i.e., productivity, employee well-being, or workplace satisfaction) The importance of Organization Behavior to Business Organizational behavior is crucial to the success of any business By understanding how individuals and groups interact in an organizational setting, business leaders can improve employee productivity, job satisfaction, and collaboration The study of organizational behavior identifies five essential elements, including people, structure, technology, social system, and environment, that are critical to understanding these dynamics Applying organizational behavior principles can help businesses improve their workforce processes, collaboration, and workforce development, leading to a positive work culture Moreover, the study of organizational behavior can inform and influence human resource strategies, helping organizations align employee goals with organizational objectives In essence, organizational behavior is a key factor in improving workforce efficiency and effectiveness, ultimately leading to the success of the business B Netflix Analysis i About Netflix General The most well-known content platform and production firm, Netflix Inc., is based in Los Gatos, California Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, who had both previously worked at Pure Software, created it in 1997 When Hastings was charged a late fee for returning a movie after the due date, the company's concept took off This was the beginning of Netflix, which debuted its website in April 1998 with a pay-per-rental business strategy for renting movies In September 1999, the business made the decision to launch a monthly subscription As a result, the business aspires to be known for offering limitless rentals without due dates, late penalties, shipping or handling charges, or per-title rental costs The company lost large quantities of money the first few years but in 2003, Finally, Netflix generated $275 million in sales and a hefty profit of $6.5 million The business offers a broad variety of movies to its consumers and ships roughly million DVDs every day They increased their success by developing a customized video recommendation system for their consumers based on ratings and reviews to assist them identify the movies the viewers prefer The firm expanded to the internet in 2007, making it possible for their clients to watch movies online, which helped Netflix thrive despite a decline in DVD sales from 2006 to 2011 Additionally, Netflix contributed significantly to the distribution of indie films and created unique subjects with filmmakers through a program called Red Envelope Entertainment This program closed in 2008 Overall, given that it mails out 190,000+ DVDs every day and has 24.4 million US customers or 30 million subscribers worldwide, Netflix is one of the most successful movie distributors Around 12,800 full-time employees were employed by Netflix as of 2022 The number of employees increased by 1,500 or 13.27% compared to the previous year and more than twice as many as were tallied in 2017 With the assistance of these workers, 2022 turned out to be the business's most prosperous year to yet, generating record sums in term yearly income -> Netflix Employees increase rapidly each year Netflix Organizational Structure Netflix Inc has a U-form or unitary organizational structure that involves a hierarchy for maintaining executive control and direction throughout the organization However, this corporate structure is relatively flat compared to many businesses that have a hierarchical organizational architecture Through this corporate structure, the company is able to continually evolve to offer original entertainment content and on-demand media streaming service that attract target customers around the world Netflix Inc.’s corporate structure is based on the business need to make rapid decisions as a way to respond to changes in the online entertainment market This organizational structure allows the company to effectively perform against strong competitors, such as Amazon, Walmart, Apple, YouTube (Google), Disney, and HBO, among others This power system involves a CEO named Reed Hastings at the top and successive layers of authority below him He is directly reported to by a number of principal officers who supervise The chief talent officer comes in third, followed by the chief marketing officer and the chief communications officer The chief product officer comes next, followed by Ted Sarandos, a c-level official at Netflix who collaborates closely with the chief marketing officer, as chief content officer The chief financial officer of Netflix is in charge of supervising all financial activities carried out by the firm and ensuring compliance with accounting and financial regulations The business development officer of Netflix is another top executive Last but not least, David Hyman holds the post of general counsel at Netflix and provides the Netflix community with legal advise (Wagener, 2020) He also designates those who will represent the organization in court To make sure the business takes the best judgments, he is constantly present throughout important organizational transactions Following the chief executive officers, lower-level managers and department heads arrange themselves vertically in terms of influence The major goal of this organizational structure is to uphold executive authority and direction across the board Because there aren't many levels of middle management at Netflix, the hierarchical structure is considerably more flat than it is at other companies As a result, the chain of command is quite short Document continues below Discover more from: Organizational Behavior Đại học Kinh tế Quốc… 301 documents Go to course Final exam of Organizational Behavior Organizational Behavior 100% (4) Organisation Behaviour A1 Organizational Behavior 100% (3) Expectancy theory Organizational Behavior Netflix makes use of a few flat organizational principles For instance, only the first layer of senior executives and next-level management at the functional level is vertical; beyond that, the organizational structure is very flat Direct communication and prompt decision-making are made possible from the middle level on down as a result ii OB Success Identification of Netfilx Organizational Behavior Success a Employee engagement Netflix is listed as one of the most pioneer companies in having a high performance culture which surveys show that Netflix employees were the happiest employees in 2019 in the US (Rodriguez, 2020) - Fostering a Culture of Freedom and Responsibility Fostering a culture of independence and responsibility is one of the main ways Netflix keeps its staff content and productive Instead of micromanaging them, the corporation encourages its staff to take the initiative and make decisions Employees can then feel empowered and respected, which boosts their productivity and level of job satisfaction Give your staff liberty and put your faith in them to make decisions that are in line with the company's objectives if you want to implement this strategy in your business - Generous Benefits and Positive Work-Life Balance Netflix also encourages a healthy work-life balance and provides extensive perks to keep its staff members content and productive The employer provides extensive parental leave, flexible scheduling, and unrestricted vacation time Employees may better manage their work and personal life as a result, which can increase productivity and job satisfaction You can think about providing flexible work schedules, unlimited vacation days, or remote work opportunities to help your employees better balance their professional and personal lives - Emphasis on Employee Development and Career Growth Additionally, Netflix places a high priority on its employees' professional development To aid employees in advancing their careers, the business provides a range of training and development options, such as coaching and mentoring programs In addition to enhancing employee satisfaction and engagement, this also helps the business retain top talent You might think about establishing a mentorship program, giving access to professional development classes, or setting up a clear career growth route as ways to engage in your employee's development - Transparency and Communication Netflix places a high value on openness and communication Regardless of level or position, all employees at the organization are given access to information regarding the company's performance and strategy Employees may experience greater job satisfaction and productivity as a result of feeling more a part of the company's vision and objectives You might think about developing an open communication culture, constantly informing your staff about the company's performance and plan, and encouraging criticism if you want to increase transparency and communication in your business - Employee Voice and Surveys 100% (3) By regularly surveying its workforce, Netflix gives them a voice and helps to maintain a happy workforce The business regularly polls workers on their involvement to get their opinions on things like communication, professional growth, and work-life balance This allows staff members the chance to express their issues and ideas and have their voices heard by the management of the business By disseminating the survey findings to every employee and acting on their suggestions, Netflix also makes the survey results transparent Additionally, it promotes an environment of openness and trust Giving employees a voice and demonstrating that their opinions are appreciated can help businesses build a more engaged and motivated staff, which will eventually improve productivity and employee retention b Diversity and inclusion There are 12,135 workers at Netflix Employees at Netflix are 53% males and 47% women White people make up 61% of Netflix's customer base Latino or Hispanic workers make about 18% of the Netflix workforce Netflix has a 9.5 out of 100 diversity score, according to Zippia.com By evaluating a number of variables, such as the ethnic heritage, gender identity, and language proficiency of their personnel, it computed the diversity score of organizations c Collaboration A few years ago, Netflix altogether eliminated yearly performance reviews as part of a performance management overhaul Netflix chooses a 360-degree evaluation approach instead With this system, employees receive recommendations from their coworkers on what they should start, stop, or continue doing To minimize embarrassment, the reviews were initially anonymous But then, Netflix has switched to signed reviews and, most recently, face-to-face 360s Netflix chooses complete openness because they feel that if you tell people the truth, they can handle anything d Talent Management The success of Netflix might be partly ascribed to its focus on luring and keeping outstanding talent The business understands the importance of choosing employees who share its values and can contribute to a high-performance culture Netflix has a stringent recruiting procedure that considers applicants' aptitude for thriving in a dynamic, fastpaced workplace in addition to their talents (McCord, 2014) The organization will be filled with brilliant people who are driven and capable of fostering innovation thanks to this strategy Other rankings and awards Netflix received one award in 2021 and two in 2020 Netflix got the award for Best Company Culture in 2021 Netflix won in 2020 for Best Leadership Teams and Best Company Compensation Based on 3,594 reviews from 439 participants, it's clear that Netflix's employees are happy with their jobs The overall culture score, 81/100 or A+, is based on employee evaluations of the Executive Team, Perks & Benefits, and Overall Culture iii Contributing factors Power a Power Source Netflix's corporate culture prefers people above processes and promotes independence in decision-making as well as open communication and honesty Additionally, it promotes employee autonomy and empowerment The organizational behavior of Netflix is driven by the flexibility of employees to take the initiative and make decisions, which maintains the company adaptable and competitive The company emphasizes employee autonomy and responsibility and promotes and hires employees based on specific skills that align with its guiding values The company focuses a lot of attention on aligning plans and objectives, rewarding top performers with top market remuneration, and encouraging ongoing conversations about performance and growth Instead of imposing strict control, managers provide context Coercive power: Coercive power is one of the types of power utilized in negotiations in Netflix's organizational behavior Netflix's CEO and managers are free to use pressure to make employees perform below expectations by threatening punishment or generating fear in them Netflix's organizational style exhibits coercive power when it offers large severance payments to failing workers Sharon Slade has the power to offer these bundles as Netflix's CHRO It's crucial to remember, though, that Netflix's personnel management strategy places more of an emphasis on assembling top-notch teams and employing "A" performers than it does on using pressure to enforce compliance A culture that prioritizes honesty and creativity above intimidation and fear is one that Netflix fosters by recruiting fully developed individuals and encouraging candor Another instance of avoiding coercive power is Netflix, which addresses employee performance through casual discussions as opposed to formal assessments This strategy promotes open dialogue and teamwork between staff members and management, which boosts output and job satisfaction Netflix has developed a corporate culture that promotes creativity, innovation, and cooperation by refraining from using threats and coercion Legitimate Power: New policies and practices for the business may be developed and implemented by the CEO and management Sharon Slade shown this sort of power in her capacity as Netflix's top human resources officer by developing and implementing the new policies and procedures at the business She, for instance, put "Act in Netflix Best Interest" into action by reducing costs and allowing frontline managers greater authority when it came to travel and expenditure The personnel generally abided by Sharon's regulations because of her position Given that Sharon reduced Netflix's costs, her impact was essential in this case Reward Power: When a boss or other authority imposes a reward, this is known as reward power Outstanding workers who incorporate their principles into their work lives are recognized by Netflix Job security is the key prize they provide to those who perform better than the others The workplace appreciates accountability and fosters free discussion They exclusively work with the most talented and intelligent candidates, encourage employee creativity, and let individuals act on their feelings Referent Power: This authority relates to a manager's or an authority figure's capacity to motivate and inspire their staff members based on their personal traits and character Employees are more likely to be inspired to work harder and be more productive when they regard their superiors as people For example: Bela Bajaria - Chief Content Officer of Netflix She has a major influence on the film industry Many shows she has shepherded have become global phenomenons such as 'La Casa de Papel' (Spain), 'The Witcher' (Poland), 'Sacred Games' (India), 'Squid Game' (Korea), 'Blood & Water' (South Africa), and 'Sintonia' (Brazil) Bajaria has been honored by THR’s Women in Entertainment list, Variety’s LA Women’s Impact Report, named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2022, and named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in 2020, 2021 and 2022 b Power Tactics Rational Persuasion: In its organizational behavior, Netflix uses logical persuasion as an influence strategy It is thought of as a soft influence technique to provide logical justifications and factual data to support demands This strategy is used by Netflix leaders to validate their demands and win the support of their staff In a business with a distinctive corporate culture like Netflix, this tactic can boost team trust and support for a leader's decisions When employing rational persuasion, authenticity is essential to prevent losing a team's trust and participation by providing false facts In general, Netflix's use of rational persuasion is a successful strategy for influencing and inspiring its staff Pressure: Core values, beliefs, business philosophies, and behaviors that encourage resilience and inspire staff to support development and innovation are at the heart of Netflix's company culture The fundamental characteristics that define the firm culture are independent decision-making, open and extensive communication, and remarkable candor Extreme openness, continuous feedback, and radical transparency are all encouraged in the culture, which some employees may find unsettling and is a source of complaints However, such a competitive market forces Netflix to always look for ways to enhance its operations Only the top candidates are sought after by the firm, which might lead to problems with pressure Despite this, Netflix's culture assures a competitive edge in terms of innovation and a strategic advantage over other companies Inspirational Appeals: The organizational culture of Netflix places a strong emphasis on leadership and motivation by encouraging staff to experiment with new concepts and uphold an honest and impartial demeanor The business employs intrinsic motivation to enhance its human resources strategies by letting workers experience natural fulfillment from completing tasks This strategy aids in inspiring and motivating workers to contribute to the accomplishment of the organization's objectives The organizational culture of Netflix also places a high value on individuals by encouraging autonomy, communication, productivity, and rule-breaking This fosters a culture where workers feel appreciated and motivated to contribute to the success of the business In the cutthroat market of on-demand digital video streaming, Netflix improves its strategic position by incorporating inspirational appeals into organizational behavior 10 Culture a Netflix’s Logo The well-known streaming media provider consistently employed the colors red and white for its logo White may have been utilized as a neutral background to draw attention to the wordmark, even though red is a color that denotes passion and energizing energy It could also stand for excellence and infinity In the real logo, the word "Netflix" and the letter "N" both use the same color scheme The majority of the inscriptions are written in the standard Netflix Red color However, white may be used in place of red if they are to be used as a watermark Although black is the most popular backdrop for logos, there are other choices, such as white and mild, non-contrasting tones The standard red and black color scheme highlights the cinematic feel of the first class b Netflix’s Culture Analysis Autonomy and accountability-based business practices were created by the corporation There, staff members accept complete accountability for their choices and actions The organizational culture at Netflix supports workers in finding fresh approaches to completing their tasks Competition between companies like Apple, Amazon, Walmart, Disney, YouTube (Google), and HBO is encouraged by this circumstance Due to the intense competition, Netflix is under pressure to constantly seek out ways to enhance its company, such as by strategically implementing its corporate culture, in order to increase the appeal of its online service and original content/programming (TV shows and movies) A few of the issues in this industry environment are addressed by the corporation's organizational culture, including innovation and the compatibility of the entertainment service with the tastes of the target audience The organizational culture of Netflix acts as a strategic management method for the company's growth and competitive advantage - Autonomy: o Responsibility And Accountability: Since it gives employees the freedom to anything they want as long as they're operating in Netflix's best interests, Netflix has proven to be a great place to work Employees are trusted to make the best judgments and are encouraged to take big risks The ability to be as creative as they like is given to Netflix employees, but they must also take responsibility for their acts The company values the abilities of its workers and has faith in them to act in a 11 - - - 12 way that achieves results rather than wasting the chance they have been given o Open Disagreement: Even if they are mistaken, managers and leaders must encourage staff to voice their honest thoughts about novel concepts or choices Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, has advised CEOs to provide their staff members the freedom to voice their opinions and constructively challenge the executive decision-making body The hierarchical structure is flattened with this technique, allowing for improvements and changes Productivity and Effectiveness o Recruiting The Best: Only the smartest, most brilliant, and most skillful individuals are hired by Netflix Employee productivity is trusted to them since the company believes that they have the intelligence to make the best choices with little oversight This firm makes the best hires since doing so promotes personal development Top performers are always pushed by their peers to try new things and stay creative The top workers are also given a sizable severance payment as compensation, which motivates them to keep up their excellent work o Focus on high effectiveness: Netflix Inc places a strong emphasis on high performance and work effectiveness through initiatives connected to company culture For instance, the company leverages its organizational culture to demonstrate that high productivity and effectiveness are standard in the media streaming workplace, inspiring staff to embrace high-efficiency work practices Regarding organizational attempts to carry out Netflix's corporate vision and purpose declarations, this cultural trait is relevant In this regard, the corporate culture supports the attainment of strategic management objectives by encouraging human resources to achieve the levels of productivity required for sustained success in the online entertainment sector Additionally, the operational efficacy of this organizational culture attribute affects how Netflix Inc.'s activities are managed Communication: o The Unique Approach: In their quest to provide unending entertainment to the globe, Netflix recognized that a positive work environment is essential to achieving their objectives They have decided to give their employees the best working conditions available as a consequence o Share The Knowledge: Netflix thinks that information sharing inside the company is essential for fostering innovation. All employees, not just executives, are encouraged to be creative because they have access to the crucial documents and data they need to create strategic plans that improve the performance of the organization Attitude: An aspect of Netflix's corporate culture that encourages staff to retain an overall attitude of sincerity and objectivity is extraordinary candidness Such candor throughout the internet company's human resources is closely related to the preceding attribute (open, broad, and purposeful information exchange) However, this unprecedented openness extends beyond information exchange to cover how employees see one another as well as Netflix's company and the wider market For instance, the business culture supports employees acting objectively, particularly when it comes to cooperation and other relevant group activities that enable international streaming operations Netflix's human resource management has methods and initiatives for encouraging the staff to adopt this mindset in their social interactions at work in order to address this aspect of the corporate culture - Organizational Rigidity The business culture at Netflix is uncommon because it ignores rules This cultural characteristic is predicated on the notion that regulations cause rigidity in internet businesses, which lowers responsiveness to market developments The organizational culture of Netflix Inc is used in this business analysis case study to generate and retain flexibility for responding to market movements Technology and customer preferences often evolve in the global market for on-demand digital entertainment streaming Netflix preserves business flexibility and allows its company to change and assure customer pleasure by avoiding rules in its corporate culture Employees that are honest, self-aware, who operate for the company's benefit rather than their own ego are valued the most by Netflix Netflix Inc., a significant player in the global video streaming market, deliberately makes use of its corporate culture to enhance its human resource capabilities Employee autonomy, communication, attitude, productivity, and rule-avoiding are stressed, which fosters a work environment where employees are encouraged to take calculated risks and offer creative solutions that strengthen the online company's competitive edge Because of this organizational culture, Netflix's human resources are adaptable and quick to respond to market issues The corporate culture's anticipated behavioral effects are related to the way the business operates in the on-demand video streaming sector For instance, employees are encouraged to submit concepts that improve the compatibility between Netflix's service and current market trends The organizational culture of the streaming industry, in terms of strategic planning, enables it to put into practice plans and actions that make creative use of human resources to support operational improvements Overall, Netflix upholds a corporate culture that keeps its business agile, inventive, and responsive to customer and market demand Politics Networking: Independent decision-making, transparent communication, and an emphasis on efficiency are valued most highly in the corporate culture of Netflix Playing office politics, on the other hand, might act as a barrier to women's development, according to Michelle P King, director of inclusion at Netflix Men are more likely to get along with other men in leadership positions because they are more likely to include, favor, be loyal, trade favors, and defend one another in politics For job advancement, 13 women, on the other hand, rely more on formal systems and procedures Consequently, it is uncertain how much networking politics influence Netflix's organizational behavior However, the organization's culture encourages the exchange of ideas to expand the company, which may present networking chances Reciprocity: In the case of Netflix, the company's distinctive culture and ideals promote openness and candor among its employees Since employees are encouraged to express their opinions without worrying about reprisal, this openness may create a climate in which reciprocity politics are not essential Netflix workers may feel under pressure to get involved in power struggles and political scheming in order to progress their careers as a result of the company's highly competitive culture Reciprocity politics may be a natural component of organizational behavior, which is something businesses need to understand even though it can be bad for relationships at work and morale in general Companies like Netflix may lessen the negative impacts of reciprocal politics and encourage workers to concentrate on their work rather than political scheming by developing a culture of openness and transparency Motivation The CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, doesn't seem to value using motivational techniques since he believes that Netflix hires the best people and that they don't require incentive Netflix does, however, in some manner uphold a few inspirational principles Using a work-design strategy that encourages autonomy, feedback, and the drive to acquire new things, Netflix uses incentive Hastings doesn't think it's important to attempt to inspire those who are already the greatest, but he does encourage individuals to work for him and is not afraid to terminate those who don't deliver top-notch work while still giving them significant severance bonuses Job security at Netflix is unquestionably a concern since he analyzes his employees' effectiveness rather than effort This is because even when workers put in a lot of effort to produce their best work, there are times when it just isn't good enough, and they aren't given the chance to make it better If the effort is there but the results aren't, they run the danger of losing their jobs At Netflix, autonomy and feedback are used to create work environments that promote motivation This suggests that they not place a lot of importance on obeying the rules, preferring instead to have employees produce work that is effective in and of itself According to Hastings, informal performance assessments are preferable to formal ones for providing feedback He established an innovative feedback process he called "360-degree reviews," in which employees are only asked to list acts they believe their teammates should less of or avoid Regarding the urge to acquire, Netflix does differentiate between outstanding performers and average performers even if they not tie rewards to performance or pay higher wages than their competitors Job security is essentially the reward they provide to employees who outperform the competition As a performance-based company, Netflix aims to be, thus just effort won't cut it Despite the fact that it's easier to measure how many hours someone spends into a project than how well it turns out, that isn't how they work It's advantageous for Netflix to offer big severance payments to those they choose to let go of since it helps the former employees feel more understanding 14 To conclude, there may be some issues with job security and lack of motivation to keep employees working at Netflix; however, Netflix's top priority is to hire the absolute best employees a Content theory: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory Physiological needs: According to Netflix's corporate culture, employees' demand for a healthy balance between work and leisure time is given top priority The organization places a strong emphasis on recruiting fully-formed people who are independent and have the common sense to take care of their most basic physiological demands Additionally, the business generates a supportive workplace culture that encourages employee engagement and drive, which further helps to address workers' physiological demands In general, Netflix's organizational behavior strategy lays a great focus on attending to its workers' most fundamental needs Safety needs: The corporate culture of Netflix encourages employee autonomy, which is essential for achieving safety requirements Given the opportunity to work at their own pace, employees are less likely to feel micromanaged or in control of their job Employees are given the freedom to decide what is best for their safety and wellbeing, including decisions on work schedules, locations, and hours The company's focus on efficiency and productivity also contributes to preventing overwork and stress, which may have a severe influence on employees' safety and wellbeing In general, Netflix's culture of employee autonomy and productivity aids in making sure that organizational behavior meets safety demands Belongingness & love needs: Netflix's organizational behavior places a strong emphasis on meeting the demands of its workers for love and belonging by integrating them into the team, treating them with respect, and granting them autonomy This method of motivating people is consistent with Netflix's principles and objectives, which put an emphasis on innovation and creativity Esteem needs: The business has a distinctive culture that promotes decision-making and values people with high levels of effectiveness They put a premium on individuals over quantity and value quality Netflix offers opportunities for professional growth, welcomes input, and fosters open communication to satisfy the esteem needs of its staff The business also places a strong emphasis on creating a dream team of highly productive collaborators and giving employees the freedom to make their own judgments Netflix has been successful in attracting and keeping top performers by fostering a work environment that honors brilliance and promotes pragmatic solutions Self-actualisation: Self-actualization is a key component of Netflix's organizational behavior, which is highlighted in their distinctive culture and management methods The way Netflix views employee autonomy is one illustration of this The business doesn't micromanage its workers; rather, it trusts them to make their own judgments Netflix values the self-actualization of its employees by providing them with intrinsic motivators such as decision-making power As a result of having greater control over their job, employees may feel more autonomous, accomplished, and purposeful, all of which are elements that contribute to self-actualization 15 b Process theory: Locke's Goal Setting Theory: The process theory, which contends that employees are driven by the expectation that their efforts will produce desired results, has an impact on Netflix's organizational behavior in terms of employee motivation In the case of Netflix, this means that staff members are driven by the conviction that their efforts will benefit the firm and its aim to offer premium on-demand media streaming services The organizational culture of Netflix, which values independence, candidness, productivity, and avoiding rules, encourages individuals to create and achieve in their jobs by giving them the flexibility and resources they need Additionally, Netflix's values are not simply words on a page; they are also traits that are highly regarded and cherished inside the organization This helps to motivate employees by reinforcing their conviction that their efforts will result in success Overall, Netflix's motivation organization behavior uses the process theory to enhance staff performance and contribute to the expansion and success of the company Step 1: Determine the right goal Understanding what drives workers is the first step in figuring out the proper aim for Netflix's motivating organization behavior According to Netflix, outstanding outcomes occur from great individuals being hired and given the freedom to what they best The company's objective is to develop a culture that draws in and keeps the greatest people in the sector Step 2: Make employees accept the goal This is accomplished by the business placing a major emphasis on cultivating a positive workplace culture and upholding its core principles The organization pays and promotes people who uphold its principles and fires those who don't, while leaders and managers are accountable for modeling and supporting the conduct they advocate In order to establish a dream team, Netflix encourages cooperation, diversity of thought, and information exchange It also offers clear and comprehensive context to support independent thought Employees are then able to comprehend the company's objectives and make decisions that are consistent with them Step 3: Facilitate the environment and provide feedback In order to foster independent thinkers, Netflix emphasizes the need of giving staff with clear and comprehensive background The business also supports an organizational culture that puts people first and emphasizes open communication, remarkable candor, and a focus on efficiency These qualities contribute to fostering an atmosphere where staff members feel free to provide brilliant suggestions for expanding the company Netflix has a distinct strategy when it comes to staff performance assessments, performing 360-degree reviews on a frequent basis as opposed to once a year Netflix encourages managers to provide employees with direct and honest criticism in order to foster a productive workplace and provide feedback Specific illustrations of both positive and bad behaviors should be included in this feedback Instead of criticizing or condemning employees, the goal is to support their learning and development In order to retain a highly productive staff and remain competitive in the market, Netflix has created an atmosphere that appreciates feedback and promotes personal growth 16 iv Management Tools ● Rule Avoidance Policy: This unique strategy encourages employees to use their best judgment when making decisions rather than relying on certain rules or standards In addition to making sure that employees act in the organization's best interests, this method aims to promote autonomy and creativity For instance, the company has a policy of not keeping track of the number of vacation days its employees use, allowing them to take as much time off as they need as long as they meet their obligations ● Programs for Leadership and Coaching: To help employees develop their managerial skills and become better leaders, Netflix offers a variety of training and services These programs include coaching sessions, mentorship opportunities, and leadership training courses These initiatives aim to develop employees' leadership skills and to promote a culture of ongoing learning and development A New Grad Program, resources for learning about the corporate culture, and opportunities for progression are just a few of the efforts Netflix offers for employee growth and development One of their most effective programs is the "Manager in Training" program, which is aimed to help staff members develop the skills necessary to become excellent leaders Additionally, they offer coaching sessions to help workers hone their unique skills and accomplish their goals ● Motivation Tools: Netflix uses a variety of approaches and methods to keep employees interested and motivated Netflix's original method for encouraging teamwork and collaboration is called "Freedom and Responsibility" The company promotes a collaborative and innovative culture by valuing employee autonomy and trust Employees are urged to engage in open dialogue and to express their opinions to others Additionally, this method allows for more flexibility in work schedules, which can enhance teamwork by giving employees more time for collaboration In addition, Netflix provides a variety of team-building activities including off-site retreats, hackathons, and monthly meetings to foster a sense of camaraderie and collaboration among its staff ● Change Management: Netflix promotes transparency and employee involvement while managing changes inside the company Employees should be informed often on the progress of adjustments and should participate in decision-making By including the workforce in the process, Netflix is able to lessen resistance to change and ensure that everyone is on board with the new course ● Performance Management: ■ By
