1 Hello everyone, my name is Thao I’m responsible for part 4: Providing positive nappy-changing Let’s started Feces (and sometimes urine) contain billions of germs Hygienic nappy changing and toileting is important to prevent these germs from spreading disease Now I will shows the best way to stop disease spreading when changing nappies There are three stages in the nappy changing procedure: preparation, changing and cleaning Here we have the following steps You are most likely to come in contact with germs during the changing stage, represented by numbers through 10 It is also important to note that the person changing the nappy should wash their hands three times during the entire procedure: before they start, after changing the nappy and after cleaning the change table Toileting and nappy-changing should offer positive interactions with opportunities for learning, • recognise child’s developmental stage • one-to-one interactions: During the nappy changing process, we need to regularly talk and show loving actions to the baby, we can say "Now you are clean", "Isn't it great to have a clean nappy?" We come to the next topic Toileting experience “Children’s developing abilities and taking increasing responsibility for self-help and basic health routines, promote a sense of independence and confidence.” You might see signs that your child is ready for toilet training from about years on Some children show signs of being ready as early as 18 months, and some might be older than years There are several steps in starting to learn how to use the toilet: Put wet and dirty nappies in the potty: When you change your child’s nappy, put wet and dirty nappies in the potty – this can help your child understand what the potty is for Watching others use the toilet: Children watch older classmates or family members use the bathroom and talk about what they are doing Teach children the words for going to the toilet: Start teaching children the words for going to the toilet For example: “wee”, “poo” and “ I need to go” Start putting training pants on your child: Once or twice a day, start putting training pants on your child – this helps your child understand the feeling of wetness Make sure your child eats lots of fiber and drinks plenty of water: Make sure your child is eating plenty of fibre and drinking plenty of water, so they don’t get constipated Constipation can make toilet training harder This is my end of my presentation and for the next presentation, please invite Ms Thanh
