the creation and in the spread of people, culture, identity, and society The media also has an important role in the evolution of the different cultural practices The media can be said to extend the human capability to create, spread, and store messages By extension, the media also enhances the human capability to engage in activities that are relevant to the different aspects The aim of this study focuses on the effects of media on people, culture, identity, society Through this study, you can clearly know how media effects people, culture, identity, society For the methodology, the situation right now is not suitable for other method, that’s why the survey online was chosen to analyze in-depth the effects of media on people, culture, identity, society because it would be easy to collect the data I’ll choose about 50 people on social media, I post the survey into the group that has various kinds of friends in other countries BODY SECTIONS Social media has become a major part of our daily lives It completely affects our people, culture, identity, and society in both positive and negative ways There are many positive effects of social media on them Besides, social networking strengthens the connection between people and creates an environment where you can share your opinions, pictures and so much more Social media has improved creativity and social awareness for our society by interacting with others and sharing new ideas and perspectives It is also very important for any business because at some point you need to use social media in your business Social media business development and international marketing People prefer to shop online Social networks provide an opportunity to expand your world and make new friends from other countries Finding out about breaking news on social media is easier because it has unlimited access and flexibility On the other hand, social media has affected them in negative ways People can share whatever they want on social media and some of them may be inappropriate photos People have become more conservative about each other's views People began to argue about each other's views regarding their political, religious, social and cultural rights Social media has a negative influence on young people It reduces physical activity People like to sit all day in front of the computer and talk Social media also affects young people in negative ways Children can be influenced and manipulated by some websites with inappropriate information The bad side of social media is that a lot of unnecessary information is shared by people and bullying and harassment on social media is on the rise People can make brutal and negative comments about anything and anyone Social media has effects on our people, culture, identity, and society 3.1 Effects of media on people Along with the development of the Internet and smart devices, people realize that connecting people with people regardless of geographical distance or time has become more necessary than ever Tools for human interaction on which ideas and thoughts are created, expressed, and shared are gradually developed into Social Networks It is undeniable that social media has become an indispensable part of young people in the digital age, a place for young people to express themselves through "virtual life" photos, update the latest videos or catch up with the latest news contemporary trend A survey from the American Press Institute found that 100% of respondents use social networking sites to access information and news Among them, about 88% use Facebook, 83% use YouTube and 50% collect information from Instagram They often connect friends by means of communication They can learn a lot about their friends or relatives by making friends on social networks They can also meet and make friends with people from all over the world with similar interests or views From there, it is possible to build better relationships or cooperate with each other in many aspects Social networks provide platforms that everyone can use comfortably, it gives people the opportunity to share information with each other in any way very easily, and the level of interaction is very high because the Your contacts to which your message is delivered are always online (at your computer or via mobile phone) At the time you send the message, the person on the other side will receive it and the conversation will continue without interruption Besides, the media also plays a very important role in the field of education and training You can study online or train remotely over the Internet It saves you a lot of time or can easily talk to your teacher online when you have questions that need to be answered Not only in the field of education and training, but the government also has an e-portal Moreover, it can be said to be a huge store of knowledge It makes it easy and fast to find information and news, whether new or old You can search for an issue that interests you by searching on Google, there will be many web pages containing related information Especially with the current 4.0 technology revolution, the Internet and media help countries manage and administer the economy and society and liberate human labor Besides, the influence of social media on people's lifestyles on the negative side is also quite a lot As most people probably know by now, social media forms unrealistic expectations about life and friendship in our minds Most social networking sites seriously lack online authenticity People use Snapchat to share their fun adventures, post about how much they love their significant other on Facebook, and upload to their Instagram pages elaborately staged photos But in reality, you have no way of knowing if this is a joke or not While it looks great on the surface, the person may be in huge debt, in bad terms with their significant other, and just need Instagram likes as a form of authentication One simple way out of this mess is for people to give up lying on social media But in the age of Instagram influencers and YouTubers who make millions from not being authentic, that's not going to happen anytime soon Instead of seeking knowledge to prepare for the future by learning necessary skills, young people only focus on becoming "keyboard heroes" and becoming famous online In addition, posting hot information with false information is no longer a strange thing, but it really confuses others and causes frustration if used too often Besides, social media is the most effective medium for you to learn, learn and unleash your creativity However, when you overdo it, it will make you dependent and lose your creativity Surfing social media sites has the same numbing effect on your brain as watching TV unconsciously Social media can be more addictive than cigarettes and alcohol It has a strong pull on many people, leading them to check it out all the time without even thinking about it If you're not sure if you're addicted to social media, try recalling the last time you went through a long day without checking any of your social media accounts Do you feel rejected if someone unfollows you? And if tomorrow your favorite social network completely disappears, will it leave you feeling empty and depressed? At the end of the day, social media sites want to keep you surfing for as long as possible so they can show you more ads and earn more money Because of the attention economy, these sites need you to keep an eye on them for as long as possible Just because you've overused social media doesn't mean you need to wipe out all social media platforms However, if you think quitting is the best solution for you, it's not a bad idea In fact, you can learn what it feels like to give up on social media through a live story Before social media, bullying was something that could only happen face-toface However, now people can bully others online - anonymously or not Nowadays everyone knows what cyberbullying is and most of us have seen what it can to a person While social media makes it easier to meet and befriend new people, it also allows villains to tear people apart without much effort Bullies can use the anonymity that social media provides to gain people's trust and then terrorize them in front of their peers For example, they might create a fake profile and be friendly with a classmate, then betray and shame them online These online attacks often leave deep emotional scars and even lead people to commit suicide in some cases And it turns out, cyberbullying doesn't just affect kids Adults can also become victims of online abuse Since screens hide our faces, you can become a villain on social media and other websites without even realizing it 3.2 Effects of media on society Media is a powerful force in contemporary society, it determines our actions and identity With reference to theory and relevant sociological evidence, let us discuss communication effects Society relies heavily on technology for news, entertainment and education Mass media is considered to be one of the factors that have the greatest influence on the views and outlook of society in the modern world Media includes many sources, for example, Magazines; Internet; Television; Books and Radio All these sources are what contribute to creating beliefs about what society believes life and culture to be, sometimes raised to unrealistic standards While media provides quick access to many different forms of communication, as does any other form of communication, negative forms follow its positive attributes Socialization and socialization are among the key features of partnerships with the mass media As seen in contemporary society, norms; values; and the way of life has changed a lot compared to previous generations An important aspect that a major media society has embraced is that it offers great awareness of the world around us The media has exposed individuals of all ages to different aspects of the world that previous generations were not exposed to This vast revelation has educated the youth, thereby helping them to better perceive and understand the world today The media spread the 'global' message in minutes, providing us with the latest world events Media is actively transmitted daily by millions of people and their access to resources There are always two sides to every coin Social media is just a tool or medium for people to use How to use this tool is still up to the user (just like a knife, can help you cut food or injure others) The negative effects presented by respondents included time spent online robbing important face-to-face relationships time; The internet and media nurture most superficial relationships; the act of taking advantage of the internet to engage in social networking that exposes personal information; The Internet allows people to package themselves, limiting exposure to new ideas; and the internet is being used to create intolerance Some respondents also emphasized that there will be the development of a number of new psychological and medical syndromes, which are "variants of depression due to the lack of meaningful quality relationships", and a "new world society" People become dependent on technology and forget how to socialize in a face-to-face setting A person's online personality can be completely different from their offline personality, causing chaos when the two personalities meet It is evident in online dating when the couple meets face to face for the first time Their written profiles not clearly represent their reallife characters It's more engaging for people to type in what others want to hear than to tell the truth Besides "friendship", the creators of social networking sites and users also redefine the term "privacy" on the Internet The challenge in data security is sharing data while protecting personally identifiable information Almost any information posted on social networking sites is permanent Whenever someone posts a photo or video on the web, it goes viral When a user deletes a video from their social network, someone may have kept the video and then posted it to other sites like YouTube People post photos and video files to social media sites without thinking, and these files can reappear at the worst possible time Much news has been reported about online privacy violations in Facebook, and Facebook is constantly revising their privacy policy and changing their privacy controls for users Interestingly, even if a user deletes personal information and deactivates a Facebook account, Facebook will still keep that information and will continue to use it for data mining A reporter asked if the data would at least be anonymized A Facebook representative declined to comment In the corporate world, HR managers can go to Facebook to learn about a candidate's true colors, especially when job seekers don't make their profiles private Research has found that nearly half of employers turned down a potential employee after finding incriminating material on their Facebook page Some employers have also checked candidates' online details on Facebook pages to see if they are lying about their qualifications Today, younger generations are completely unconcerned with their privacy, always opening the door to unwelcome predators or stalkers 3.3 Effects of media on cultural identity Advanced technologies of communication have brought influences and impacts on cultures There are views that the influences and impacts are brought forward by social media which has been a powerful tool that can affect and form human behaviors as well as culture Social media may have crossed the boundaries of culture due to the concept of borderless Facebook may have been the social media that connects people around the world with massive cultural backgrounds to meet at the platform The media content uploaded may spark the invasion of culture There are many other social media which come with influencers that may shout about different values and practices around Culture can be affected both negatively and positively; therefore, new media can impact our norms and traits in the same way There are several ways in which new media technologies have promoted our culture People in all parts of the world can trace the Rwandan way of dancing thanks to television, videography and the internet where one can download the various troupes dancing (Itorero) on Youtube These stories had sad songs and at times humorous ones too, that were extremely memorable Till this day, I understand that the aim of these stories was to make sure we never forgot where we came from However, with the advances in media today, the future of our culture is uncertain because children grow up admiring the people they see in movies and music videos As if this isn’t bad enough, young mothers tend to name their sons and daughters after their favorite movie stars or celebrities Other than taking on names, children spend more time on computers playing games than they spending quality time with their parents learning about culture The best way a child can learn about culture is through the stories told by elderly people Some of them might be myths but they have a great impact on a child’s life Equally important is the role of the state and the fact that the state must recognize the importance of communication through an appropriate media in promoting and disseminating, if not creating cultural knowledge Media reflects norms, cultures, and values Media can lead to the evolution and revolution of people's minds and hearts, cultivating information, understanding, and awareness among the people Broadly speaking, the relationship between culture and the media is one of inclusion An example of this is the media in Malaysia and Singapore widely covering the festivals of different communities, their religious practices, etc Television programs, news in the media about how different communities mix and mingle have led to an interesting practice where Malaysians of different backgrounds come together to celebrate Yee Sang ceremony as part of the Lunar New Year festival Promote people as cultural brand ambassadors, make influence through local media, innovative communication strategies to promote cultural content, support cultural projects at least or have no commercial value are some of the ways to help preserve and promote culture Of course, the list is not exhaustive, but it is important to keep in mind that optimal use of what is available rather than what may be available It is important to realize that the culture of any society is important because it is what distinguishes one society from another, and that the media has the power to influence our relationship with the world and the world have transformative effects on culture and society at large Here, government policy also plays a crucial role in the media and must acknowledge its role in disseminating, if not creating cultural knowledge culture and promote cultural discourse Without the media's active role in helping to promote culture, the chances of it degenerating are very high, let alone its growth and renaissance! It’s everyone’s initiative to preserve culture even though it’s bound to change Local cultures had therefore slowly lost their identities and replaced with a cross-cultural phenomenon The cultural values invaded may include human behaviors, beliefs, values or even fashion and lifestyle Let’s not allow new things to entirely wipe out what our forefathers worked so hard to protect and maintain Conclusion The popularity of social networking sites has increased rapidly over the past decade, this is probably due to its widespread use by people for a global reach Nowadays, these social networking sites along with Twitter and Facebook have become a craze for everyone All this technology can be good for keeping in touch especially in the current covid-19 situation, this is the best way for people to stay in touch with their loved ones and family, every morning wakes up, their first job will be to pick up the information phone to use the media, social networks can actually make people more isolated because they are so dependent on them Besides, the cultural and social identities of countries around the world are more and more known and understood However, everything has its positive and negative sides, and communication is no exception The development of media has made an impact on people, culture, identity, and society About people, the media has created an impact on human psychology, it makes people attracted, lose their creativity, even cyberbullying For society, the media has created an information gap, making users lose information, affecting their lives Regarding cultural identity, it is because of this development that identity is increasingly being diluted and is no longer a true cultural identity Use media in a smart and subtle way We should use it as a tool for little in life or at work Besides, we need to know how to preserve cultural identities, retain their good values to maintain and promote for future generations It is the purpose of the study to help you better understand the effects of media on people, culture, identity, and society Be a smart media user, don't overdo it
