18 Organization of the thesis The thesis is structured into eight chapters, as follows: Chapter is the Introduction, which discusses the research background and identifies the necessity for, and significance of, this research Chapter is the Historical Evolution of the Energy-Food-Water Security Nexus in Vietnam, which refers to Objective in identifying the causes and influences that initiated the formation of Vietnam’s water-food-energy security nexus Further, this chapter involves understanding the nexus challenges that impact the country’s development, both past and future Chapter is the Literature Review, which involves an analysis of existing studies about the energy-food-water nexus to examine its development, and subsequently, to identify areas that need further study and improvement This chapter is further extended to discuss the rationale for adopting an integrated methodological research framework for this research, which will be further detailed in Chapter Chapter provides a Research Methodology Framework, which is a coherent methodological research framework for E-F-W input-output modelling that aims to quantitatively assess various E-F-W scenario impacts on the security in the energy, food and water sectors This chapter also develops an E-F-W-oriented input-output model to assess socio-economic and environmental impacts of scenarios Chapter discusses Scenario Development, to create six research scenarios that consider the key factors that are likely to potentially impact or shape alternative pathways for Vietnam’s energy, food and water policies from 2014 to 2030 Each scenario in this research is detailed in terms of its assumptions, features and attributes regarding energy, food, and water security for the nation’s socio-economic development Chapter offers an Assessment of the impacts on water, food and energy security and the country’s socio-economic and environmental progress This section presents the results from the input-output modelling with the aim to comprehensively illustrate not only energy, food and water factors’ impacts on each respective sector’s security, but also socio-economic development and the environment The key findings are further extended
