adhesive prepared as described in 4.1.3 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998, to form a pad of 50 mm diameter and mm height Keep 24 h in ambient room temperature of (23 ± 2) °C and (50 ± 5) % relative humidity, then dry 24 h at (40 ± 2) °C and cool to room temperature for h Stick the traction metal piece with epoxy on the dried pad of adhesive and proceed to the test after hardening of the epoxy Repeat the test four times Any test in which epoxy resin failed shall be discounted and a further test performed 6.7.4 Expression of results Report the position of the failure of each test : ¾ in the block ; ¾ in the adhesive ; ¾ at the interface 6.8 pH measurement 6.8.1 Principle pH is measured on a dispersion in water of a sample of the hardened adhesive Constant mass is defined as two successive weighings 24 h apart, differing by less than 0,1 % Page 10 EN 12860:2001 6.8.2 Apparatus a) pH-meter, coloured reagent or pH-paper permitting a reading to 0,5 pH unit ; b) a balance permitting a weighing to 0,1 g ; c) a clock 6.8.3 Preparation of test pieces A sample is obtained by scraping the uncontaminated surface of a specimen of the product used in previous tests 6.8.4 Procedure Weigh g of the sample and disperse it in 10 g of deionised or distilled, boiled and coolded water After measure the pH Carry out three measurements on three different samples 6.8.5 Expression of results Record the result obtained The pH of the adhesive is the average of the three measurements 6.9 Test reports All tests shall be the subject of a test report that will include the following : a) identification of the tested product ; b) date, hour, place of the sampling ; c) spotting of the production batch ; d) date of the tests ; e) procedure references ; f) test results Evaluation of conformity 7.1 General Evaluation of conformity is carried out by the manufacturer declaring conformity to the gypsum based adhesives for gypsum blocks with the requirements of this standard on the basis of : a) initial type testing ; b) factory production control The purpose of the factory production control is to ensure that gypsum based adhesives for gypsum blocks placed on the market conform to their technical specifications defined in clause and with the performance values declared by the manufacturer Page 11 EN 12860:2001 7.2 Initial type testing The technical specifications and properties specified in this standard are defined in terms of European Standard reference test methods (see clause 6) and/or in other normative references which have to be used to show the conformity of the product to their standard 7.3 Factory production control testing For factory production control, other test methods may be used provided that : a) they can show a relationship to exist between the results from European Standard reference test and those from the alternative test ; b) the information on which the relationship is based is available for inspection Factory production control means the permanent internal control of production exercised by the manufactured or his agent on the responsibility of the manufacturer himself All the elements, requirements and provisions adopted by the manufacturer shall be documented in a systematic manner in the form of written policies and procedures This production control system documentation shall insure a common understanding of quality assurance and enable the achievement of the required product characteristics and the effective operation of the production control system to be checked The manufacturer shall record the results of production control (manufacturer's record) These records shall include at least the following : ¾ the identification of the product tested ; ¾ the date of sampling ; ¾ the test methods ; ¾ the test and inspection results ; ¾ the date of tests ; ¾ the identification of the responsible authority within the manufacturer ; ¾ the calibration records Marking, labelling and packaging Gypsum adhesives for gypsum blocks complying with this European Standard shall be clearly marked on the packaging or delivery note or certificate supplied with the adhesives with the following items : a) reference to this European Standard ; b) the name, trademark or other means of identification of the manufacturer of the adhesive ; c) date of production ; d) the means of identifying the adhesives and relating them to their description NOTE For CE marking purposes, when relevant, only marking and labelling requirements of Z.A.3 are of application Page 12 EN 12860:2001 Annex ZA (informative) Clauses of this European Standard addressing the provisions of the EU Construction Products Directive ZA.1 Scope and relevant characteristics (intended use(s): see clause 1) This European Standard has been prepared under a Mandate (M/106 "Gypsum products") given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association The clauses of this European Standard, shown in the Table ZA.1 below, meet the requirements of the Mandate given under EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) Compliance with these clauses confers a presumption of fitness of the construction product covered by this European Standard for its intended use(s) WARNING Other requirements and other EU Directives, not affecting the fitness for intended use(s), can be applicable to the construction products falling within the scope of this European Standard NOTE In addition to the specific clauses relating to dangerous substances contained in this European Standard, there may be other requirements applicable to the products falling within its scope (e.g transposed European legislation and national laws, regulations and administrative provisions) In order to meet the provisions of the EU Construction Products Directive, these requirements need also to be complied with, when and where they apply An informative database of European and national provisions on dangerous substances is available at the Construction web site on EUROPA (CREATE, accessed through http://europa.eu.int) Table ZA.1 - Scope and requirement clauses relevant for CE marking Product : Adhesives for gypsum blocks Intended use(s)
