This British Standard specifies the basic eyes and forecarriage pins for use in connections 7) , En 3A Dimensions between towing vehicles and: Dimensions shall be as shown in the Table and a) trailers not exceeding tons gross weight Figure b) trailers not exceeding 35 tons gross weight The gross weights refer to gross laden train weights where more than one trailer is drawn NOTE The dimensions specified are calculated on the basis of the total yield strength of the parts of the drawbar being equal to two thirds of the gross weight being towed It is necessary that any other parts connecting the trailer to the towing vehicle not Materials covered this standard, shall be at least equal in strength Design The quality of the materials used in construction shall be at least equal to the
