Why is this story important to you? You have to feel it's important, and you need to talk about it.” Specifically, the scriptwriters need to go through many edits to produce the most complete script: writing content and scripts for videos posted on the YouTube channel; analyzing and researching the market for videos with the same content weekly In addition, the scriptwriter coordinates with the video editing team to ensure the script is on track CHAPTER 2: THE INTERNSHIP PROCESS IN LOR IDEAS 2.1 The duties carried out in the internship process During my studies at the school, I had compulsory subjects such as advanced writing and translation skills These subjects are especially loved by me because I have always loved subjects related to writing Moreover, I also signed up for an online scriptwriter training course at a reputable educational institution before starting my internship So, when I applied for a scriptwriter internship at LOR Ideas Department's Scriptwriting Department, I was confident in my ability to pass three rounds of interviews, including a CV, a professional competency test, and an interview with the head of HR and the director of my applied department My major responsibility here is to create pre-selected themed video scripts and translate them into English for the voiceover This video will then be posted on the YouTube platform for commercial purposes In addition, I also have the task of doing market research and finding information such as the source and copyright of these videos on YouTube 10 I would like to report my work during the 4-week internship from January 2, 2023 to February 10, 2023 as follow: Week Training process Week Visiting around the office and greeting seniors in each department in the company Reading documents, understanding the terms, confidentiality in the contract, and signing the internship contract Starting the training and familiarization process under the guidance of the Scriptwriting Department team leader Joining the orientation session of the HR department with new members of the company to understand: History of formation, development process, human resource structure, operating principles, core values that the company is aiming for Translating video script from Vietnamese into English task Week Learning how to efficiently find video sources using techniques such as google lens, keywords, etc on social networking like Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, etc Watching videos on the company's channel, and a competitor's one and writing reports, mainly to learn how to make a viral video Researching foreign markets on social networking platforms, monitoring the needs and interests of the audience, and based on that determining the appropriate topics for making videos. Week Sorting and searching turned up videos Perform a copyright check on the YTPlus website, complete the script, and send it to the department head and project leader for approval before handing it over to the editing department Working with the Editor to ensure that they understand the writer's intent when editing the video, adjusting to the opinion of the superior if any Making sure that the video uploads to the channel according to the schedule Tracking the number of views after the video has been posted on the channels, making a review report on the effectiveness of the video, checking the source of revenue, and making corrections if any video violates our community standards on YouTube Week Conducting customer surveys to obtain feedback and comments on products and making improved reports Assisting the team leader in weekly meetings by taking notes on the main tasks and highlights of the meeting Finding and preparing materials for the internship report Handing over clients to new employees 11 Those are the tasks that I was assigned to, as well as the skills I learned while working at LOR Ideas More specifically, my main duties are: Searching and aggregating videos by available topics, carefully selecting videos with new content to meet the tastes of viewers, then organizing these videos and writing comments Working with the editing department and recording collaborators to produce a complete video After the video is completed, receive the audience's opinions and evaluate the video's effectiveness on each channel in each country Image.1.7 My product following one month of apprenticeship at LOR Ideas Media Co., Ltd (source: The company’s channel) 2.2.1 Difficulties and the personal experience gained during the internship period No doubt, every field has its own challenges; scriptwriters too Before applying here, I also had a basic knowledge of script writing as well as my foreign language abilities However, during the course of my work, I experienced the following difficulties: 12 First, the biggest difficulty I have is the poor ability to find video sources and information, which leads to slow progress Although my major is business English, which has greatly helped me in writing business correspondence and exchanging and negotiating with recording collaborators Moreover, the target market of LOR Ideas is the foreign market So English and Chinese have become the tools that make searching for information easier for me However, it took me a while longer than a scriptwriter's standard schedule Because each topic has different ways of searching and depends a lot on the writer's knowledge For example, on the topic of sports, the source videos will usually be match videos lasting up to 8–9 hours, while we only need to take about 20 seconds for an interesting moment When we want a YouTube channel to have regular views, we need a specific video posting schedule The fact that a writer is slowed down may affect other departments, affecting the company's KPI index Besides, my limited writing skills were one of the difficulties I faced As mentioned above, this is my first time making a short video in the media field, and my knowledge is limited Although training is provided during the first week on the job, it is only the most fundamental method of creating videos In the process of making the script, my writing skills are still limited because script writing skills are quite different and go beyond the basic understanding that I was trained in while sitting in school Besides, it also requires building a character's inner self and developing a meaningful plot However, if there's something I don't understand, I can ask my colleagues, who have been very enthusiastic about teaching me The final difficulty that I encountered was the lack of creativity in scripting For a successful product video, the writer's constant creativity is indispensable For newbies like me, almost everyone makes the same mistake of being too stereotyped with the sample script or following a trail of their own making When there is a lack of creativity, my script also lacks the highlights to attract the audience's attention This is also why my two previous video scripts weren't approved until my third one Those are the major difficulties I dealt with in my line of work However, everything became simpler, owing to the assistance of nice coworkers and my own 13 efforts Each job has its difficulties and obstacles, but they will help us acquire more experience 2.2.2 Personal experience acquired through the intern process Despite the fact that my internship here was just four weeks long, it provided me with a wealth of essential skills and experience This will be really useful for my future employment I realized that knowledge is never enough for one person; if you want to be more professional, you have to learn and practice every day Also, I valued that time and tried my hardest to my best, and what I gained in exchange was not just knowledge and working skills but also a change in mindset Initially, LOR ideas became more internationalized, and their target markets were spread globally Indeed, working in a team and in contact with clients allowed me to exchange and interact with foreign people on a daily basis Besides, because our company's recording collaborators are foreigners, I often communicate with them about prices and work in English, the language widely used in the world gender This has greatly improved my English I applied the knowledge and skills that I learned at university (writing commercial correspondence, emails, and translation) on the job I found that the knowledge gained at university is merely theoretical; how to apply it effectively by practicing in real life is critical In addition, my office computer skills are also much better than before The fastest way to learn something new is to practice it I used to become really weary after spending several hours in Excel analyzing data Now that I know how to use Excel more effectively, it saves me a lot of time in making quotations, drafting contracts, and preparing documents such as commercial invoices with recording collaborators As a result, my job productivity has grown In the present 4.0 technology era, these computer skills are required for all types of jobs, especially those that demand a significant amount of calculation So, it will be quite beneficial to me in the future 14
