importance of English language in the present time as global language and the government and the state have recognized the importance of teaching and learning foreign languages in general and English in particular in the system of schools in Vietnam According to the Prime Minister's Decision No 1400 / QD-TTg of September 30, 2008:"Regulating that foreign language subjects are taught and learned in educational institutions of the national education system are English and some other languages" [1] Moreover The 7th session of the XIth National Assembly passed the Education Law, which has the provisions in Article 7, Section 3, as follows: "Foreign language prescribed in the educational program is the language commonly used in communication International language training in schools and other educational institutions should ensure that learners study continuously and effectively” [2] Nowadays the trend of international integration in many areas including the field of education has brought English up a very important position English as a means of communication is the key to the treasure of humanity On the other hand, the wide application of information technology has made learning English become urgent and indispensable So learning English of Elementary School students is particularly concerned by students, parents, all the teachers of education in our country English has become one of the main subjects in the curriculum of students Learning and using of English require a diligent process of creative practice of both learners and teachers Especially in the situation of education reform as currently, teaching English in view of communication methods is widely supported According to this method, students have many opportunities to communicate Primary level English program has been implemented in all regions across the country Innovation prominent feature of the content of this program is to previse maximum opportunities for students to practice four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing on the topics and situations, communication contents related to environments living at home and abroad The change in facilitating the teaching and learning of English in secondary schools becomes teaching living language instead of teaching words as many years ago However, in practical English skills forged for students, teachers confronted with many difficulties, especially listening skill forged Through my school in the countryside area, when students started to learn foreign languages, most of them were very interested in English, but countryside or in the remote region Through the years of teaching English in elementary school, I found that English communication skills of the students are still limited To overcome this situation, I have the ambition of presenting “Some experiences to develop speaking skill for students in Quang Truong Primary school” with hope that students will improve speaking skill I hope the reality of my work will help students to be more active in learning speaking skill, accumulated knowledge and create a lively atmosphere in the school, improve learning outcomes subjects I look forward to sharing, commenting and contributing ideas to my Experience Initiative excellently form my friends, my colleagues and the readers, my friends 1.2 Purpose of the study The research focuses on using vocabulary techniques and methods for primary school students On that basis, make some recommendations to improve speaking skill in communication situations The proper and scientific application of word teaching techniques in English classes in Primary school to: - Find out the current status of teaching speaking skills - Help students actively implement learning activities - Help students focus attention - Creating habits using English in class - Build the basic of teaching English and the methods to help students communicate - Evaluate empirical results and draw up useful pedagogical lessons 1.3 Researched participants - Introducing methods and techniques for teaching speaking skill to Primary students - Introducing some methods to improve the quality of teaching speaking skill - Studying the basic solutions after basic application for students in Quang Truong Primary school 1.4 Researched methods Teachers need to apply many research methods such as: - Investigation method - Experimental contents 2.1 The theoretical problem of size Speaking skill is one of four key skills in teaching English to students with the ability to communicate quickly and practice to achieve the highest efficiency Elementary students, who have just entered the first grade, find it very difficult to learn how to speak and write Vietnamese well They face many difficulties at school and most of them are weak at four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing Especially they are afraid of speaking English at school due to many different causes such as being psychological shy, cautious, afraid of being laughed at when they are wrong There are too many students in the class, teachers not have enough time to help students develop their speaking skills for each student It is said good training will help to overcome the limitations on less Developing speaking skill helps students with more practice conditions in the class, a foreign language class It is necessary to review old and then introduce new lesson All new knowledge is suggested gradually from the basic knowledge they have learned in the previous lessons Therefore, students aren’t afraid of making new posts Through practicing speaking, teachers help students acquire knowledge in an active way, overcome the inhibition of only certain classes of gifted students participate in speech, so it will attract all students in participating classes’ activities including moderate or week children Enhancing the ability of students to behave in different situations, so students are interested and boldly confident when they practice communicating in English School will become fun, funky and highly efficient 2.2 The state of teaching and learning primary school In the 2008- 2020 foreign language project of the Ministry of Education, after completing the elementary level English language program [3] students can: - Communicate simply in English through four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, which emphasize listening and speaking skills - Have basic and minimum knowledge of English including phonetics, vocabulary, grammar; through English, you have a basic understanding of the country, people and cultures of English-speaking countries and other countries around the world - Have a positive attitude towards learning English; knowing to be proud, cherish and cherish their own culture year, I was assigned to teach language in grade and grade of Quang Truong Primary School, although there are many advantages such as: * Teachers: The teachers are young, dynamic and the qualified really simple by many reasons: * Facilities: there is function room for English subject Radio speakers, pictures are still lacking * Teacher: some difficulties selection of appropriate techniques for each lesson, each stage of the lesson * Students: Students are also shy, lacking in confidence, afraid to pronounce and practice communication In addition, the syllable structure of foreign languages has many differences, so their ability to memorize words and sentence structure is limited Primary students are very active and distracting, so it is difficult to teach new languages to them Therefore, at the beginning of the school year 2020 -2021, I surveyed students of grade Through a small survey, and observing students the results were as follows: Total Grade 86 From the above reality, we can see the results of students in inadequate The number of good students is low, while that one of weak students is high To solve that problem, teachers need to create diverse and varied forms of teaching In which, the good application of teaching techniques and methods is one of the forms that attracts many students to participate in learning and brings high efficiency in increasing their speaking skill 2.3 The solutions and procedure 2.3.1 The method of creating an English speaking environment for students 2.3.1.1 Classroom management UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com Classroom management refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class When classroommanagement strategies are executed effectively, teachers minimize the behaviors that impede learning for both individual students and groups of students, while maximizing the behaviors that facilitate or enhance learning Generally speaking, effective teachers tend to display strong classroom-management skills, while the hallmark of the inexperienced or less effective teacher is a disorderly classroom filled with students who are not working or paying attention On your first days in a primary school classroom, it’s helpful to establish class rules If you set guidelines, your students will always know what you expect from them, as well as what they should expect from you Initially, I worried that my students would have trouble learning my classroom rules After using some short rules and acting out examples, though, the students quickly caught on I also repeated my class rules at the beginning of each class period This way, they not only learned the rules—they expanded their English vocabulary After a few months, even my six-year-olds could recite my three class rules to me It’s good to only have three or four rules in place Example: In the classroom in grade I have some rules for students: - No Vietnamese in the English classroom - Sit nicely on the chair - Raise your hand if you want to talk or say something - Listen carefully - Follow students 2.3.1.2 Build a friendly English learning environment in every classroom Right from the first lessons, teachers must build an environment right away English in his class As a first step, to avoid making some weak students unable to catch up, teachers can use bilingualism Teachers will provide some samples sentences and vocabulary related to learning such as from sayings or greetings and encourage them to limit speaking Vietnamese in English time A lesson in which students who speak the most English sentences will be rewarded [4] Here are some sentences to encourage students to use Finish the lesson - All right, that's all for day - Remember your homework - See you again on Monday When a teacher makes a mistake in the classroom, he or she can apologize to the student by: - I'm sorry - I've made a mistake on the board Permission to go out / in class -May I go out? Praise / encouragement -Well done! - Very good ! - Perfect ! - Congratulation ! -Try your best ! - Excellent ! 2.3.2 Some activities motivate students speaking English 2.3.2.1 Form and organization of speaking This is also the key skill that determines success or failure in communication If the class is not active, few students practice speaking skills, it is unsuccessful My name is…Today I would like to tell you about ………My mother is… She is… years old She is a……and She works…… She is beautiful with long, black hair….Thanks for your listening Topic 2: Talk about Tet holiday Activity 1: Work individual This part I used the technique "brainstorming": When we talk about Tet, What will we talk about the basic information To this question, students rely on it easily through reading some facts about Tet So when they look at the background information for their talk, they should get the following tables: When Before Tet During Tet After Tet Activity 2: Talk about Tet After getting tables, Student had information to talk easily My name is …… Let me tell you about Tet holiday Tet is on the first of January Before Tet,…… During Tet,…… After Tet,……… Thanks for your attention 2.3.2.2 Using mind map to speak English Tony Buzan - a famous UK psychologist, a great master in harnessing the potential of the human brain - invented the Mind map mind mapping method with many useful features as a tool Great for helping people think and remember [6] So what is mind map? It is a form of note to explore, deepen, expand an idea, codify a topic or a circuit of knowledge, by combining the simultaneous use of images, lines, colors, text Write with positive thinking Especially, this is an open diagram, which does not require a strict scale like a geographic map, can add or remove branches, each person can "show" in its own way, thus maximizing the possibility creativity of each person Mind map has a lot of advantages and benefits: - Easy to see, easy to write, save time - See the overall picture of the problem 10 UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com - Maximize the memory potential of the brain: My brain is like a bottle, just pouring water in it soon becomes full If we don't know how to save memory, then soon we will find it hard to remember anything more - Train how to logically determine the topic of developing main ideas and subideas This method helps learners design a detailed outline for the essay, build up the points so that the relationship between them clearly shows [7] - Develop awareness, thinking - Stimulate students' interest in learning and creativity The way how to use mind map in English speaking - Get students familiar with the mind map by introducing them to a number of "diagrams" with the teacher's guide for them to get used to - Practice "reading comprehension" mind map, so that just by looking at the mind map, any student can present lesson content according to the logic of knowledge - Directing students to have habits when thinking logically in the form of a schematic diagram - From a main topic giving out the first, second, and third big ideas each big idea has its own small ideas associated with it, each small idea has smaller ideas… - Let students practice drawing mind maps on paper in groups (individually): - Define keywords Write (draw) central topic Draw branches level 1, level 2, level 3….Add illustrations (if necessary) - Mind map can draw in class or home information systems that students need to say Here are some specific examples which teacher provide for students 11 UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com Unit 16: Let’s go to the zoo Unit 14: What does your father do? 12 UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com Unit19: What animal you want to see? Unit 15: Would you like some milk? 2.3.2.3 Using worksheets for students to develop speaking skill 13 UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com Worksheets are a very important part of learning English Children learn in different ways and engaging them with coloring, drawing exercises and puzzles really helps them develop their language skills Having a short worksheet time during your lesson allows students to have quiet time whilst doing some fun individual activities The teacher can ask questions as students are doing their worksheets (e.g What's this? Do you like apples? etc.), the worksheets can be used as a review aid, they can be put on the classroom walls and be given for homework Students still had difficulties in developing the ideas on the themes discussed in conversational skills Limited vocabulary and comprehension skills also made the mastery of speaking became more difficult Seen from the aspect of sociolinguistics, the ability of students to understand the context of what, when, where and how to use spoken utterances was still low Students were often unable to respond teacher’s questions fluently and comprehensively in good English This study employed the use of worksheets in increasing students’ speaking skill, learning efficiency, and learning interest The problems of this research were formulated as follow: 1.Does the use of worksheets effective in improving students' speaking skill? 2.Does the use of worksheets efficient in speaking skill instruction? After finishing unit 17, Teacher gives worksheet for students, they can paint worksheet then they can write and talk about some clothes (color, price,….) We use this worksheet to review vocabulary and present continuous It is very helpful for students They will remember new word and practice the model sentence 17 LUAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com 2.4 The achievements Through this situation, in the middle of the second of semester of the school year 2020-2021, I boldly apply the activities above in English lessons and results achieved as follows: It can be seen that the correct and flexible application of the above-mentioned vocabulary teaching techniques to primary students not only brings satisfactory results for both teachers and learners, but they also have a great impact on the learning environment I noticed that the atmosphere in the classroom became really lively Students are more excited, active, working hard than they were They are sometimes nervous, anxious when they wait for the results to be tested, then they burst into joy when they see the results which they learnt and remember Their vocabulary is more abundant In that atmosphere, our teachers will also feel more in love with their jobs, feel more responsible, more serious and enthusiastic in the eyes of students' thirst for new knowledge Through quality surveys after applying these experiences, I realized that students have made marked changes Students eager, excited, excitement in learning more, all prepared at home more thoughtful Therefore, results tracking quality English courses to students' midterm of the second year (to April 5th 2021) was also markedly enhanced Specifically as follows: Total Grade 86 Through research and application topics “Some experiences to develop speaking skill for students in Quang Truong Primary school” I have learned some experience: - To improve the quality of teaching, teachers must be passionate, be responsible with your lessons, subjects of interest to students and teaching quality, the new flexible method of choice in the direction innovation suit their students - Prepare thoughtful lesson plans, detailed meticulous Increased use of available teaching aids or self- enrichment, practical and effective - Use short tracks or compose your collectibles, or organize games enhance vocabulary and sentence structure practice to provide students with course affinity System for students adequate knowledge focus simple, easy to remember, easy to use - Encourage students to change into English what they say in Vietnamese and English used more often in class, or group learning at home - Awards honored those who are gifted, progress and participation statements Also, need regular help motivate them weak and timely correction of the language you gently, so that they are not guilty, ashamed, afraid of saying the wrong lead to problems or lazy school 18 UAN VAN CHAT LUONG download : add luanvanchat@agmail.com Conclusion, suggestions and recommendations 3.1 Conclusion After nearly a year of application of the subject, I found the class atmosphere has become really lively, the attitude of the children in learning English is self-discipline and more active, they no longer thought only learn to cope Furthermore, the learning outcomes of students also improved significantly It is also the driving force that helps teacher enthusiasm, buoyed in the teaching lessons In addition, helping teachers adjust their teaching process in accordance with the level of knowledge, awareness of students We should take measures to stimulate, motivate students, inspire in them confidence, excitement and learning to overcome difficulties to progress Do not create tension, no words and attitudes forward children with severing language practice Although the students also have to be taught moderately and calmly Teaching methods of student-centered, promote creativity, active students, especially in the preparation of new posts require explicit contents Need to create a classroom atmosphere is friendly and cooperative taken "motivate, encourage" make weight Develop and cultivate passion for language learning within each activity Create new unexpected elements in each class Having a positive attitude towards language errors of students, helping students to learn from the errors of students and friends Creating language learning environment in schools and classrooms for students with many opportunities to practice using the language in the school, organizing for students working in individuals, in pairs and in groups reasonably and effectively However, to apply these improvements effectively, it requires very careful preparation of teachers Teachers must redesign the Exercises, the Tasks in textbooks and additional forms of exercises close to the level of the student It can be summarized as lessons learned for himself as follows: - Teachers must always create an environment in school foreign language and to use English as the main language for communication Depending on the grade and subject the student, the teacher can use the English sentences short, simple, easy to understand, easy to remember - Teachers should not be paying attention to the fault of the students while speaking Let them speak naturally Never force the students to stop talking while the student is trying to express his thoughts in English; doing so would make them feel scared when speaking - Teachers should incorporate active speaking English with a form of "learning by playing."
