Below you will find a comprehensive list of all the Flex Week activities for Spring 2020 There are two formats: “schedule at-a-glance” and list format Ways to view this schedule: • View the entire list of activities, including descriptions & presenters, in list format, organized by start time each day • Follow the themed strands in the “schedule-at-a-glance.” Click the title to be taken to that activity’s registration page • If you are looking for a specific activity or presenter, use “Ctrl + F” to search by title or keyword- huge time saver! Registration: • Registration is active for all workshops Simply click the link to the activity you’d like to attend, log into the Portal (if you’re not already logged in), and click the “enroll” button to the left of the activity title • If you find that you are unable to attend an activity you have already registered for, you can remove your name from the roster by visiting https://webapps.4cd.edu/apps/ProfessionalDevelopment/WorkshopEnrollment.aspx?campus=dvc and clicking the “view your workshops” button near the top Find the item you want to un-enroll from and click the “remove” button Note: this will only work up until the start time of the activity 2019-2020 Flex Obligation for Full-time Faculty • • • • There is a total 30-hour obligation for tenured full-time faculty, a 40-hour obligation for second year tenure track faculty, and a 50-hour obligation for first year tenure track faculty (usually completed in Nexus) There are hours of Mandatory Flex each semester for a total of 10 mandatory hours per year Full-time “A” contract faculty may choose to complete their Flex obligation over the entire calendar year, July through June 30 Flex credit cannot be “banked” or “made up” from one academic year to another Spring 2020 Flex Obligation for Part-time “C” and “AC” Faculty Part-time faculty have a Flex obligation that is directly related to compensation and the number of instructional days in the semester Flex obligation is based on the academic calendar, more specifically to the day of the week on which classes begin and end Consequently, the Flex obligation is adjusted each semester The semester start or end date can prevent a full 16-week semester of class meetings Part-time Flex obligation applies only to adjunct faculty who are teaching face-to-face, full-term (16-week) classes (it does not apply to online, short-term or late start classes) For Spring 2020, part-time instructors (and full-time faculty on AC contract) teaching a semester length, face-to-face class, have a flex obligation that is equal to the number of instructional hours taught in a week on Sundays, Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays In short, if you teach a full term, face-to-face class any day mentioned here, the number of hours of your flex obligation are equal to the number of hours you teach on those days in one week So if you teach hours on Monday, and hours on Wednesday, you only owe hours If you only teach on Tuesday or Wednesday, you not have a flex obligation for spring Flex activities must be completed during the semester they are required “C” and “A/C” contract faculty may not bank hours and use them in a different semester Note: non-instructional faculty (i.e., librarians and counselors) with no unit-bearing teaching load not have a Flex obligation Fall 2019 Variable Flex: Schedule-at-a-Glance Off-Schedule Activities Tuesday, 1/21 It’s Better to Lead Than Lag DVC AJ Dept Meeting 9:00am-12:00pm 1:00pm-3:00pm Diablo Room PL 102 NEXUS Meeting #6 ECE Faculty Best Practices 9:00am-3:00pm 2:30pm-4:00pm Norseman BFL CCC DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES – Wednesday 1/22 Math/COMSC/BUS San Ramon Campus Sciences & Engineering Sciences & Engineering Applied & Fine Arts Math 021 Community of Practice Kickoff Meeting SRC Division Retreat BIOSC 131 Spring Faculty Meeting Dental Programs Quality Assurance Committee Meeting First Year Spanish Connect Training 9:00am-10:30am SRC Learning Commons MA 104 3:00pm-5:00pm 9:00am-11:00am LHS 102 4:30pm-6:30pm LHS 107 Math 035 Community of Practice Kickoff Meeting Microbiology Updates 10:00am-12:00pm Sharing Resources for Addiction Studies Teachers 9:00am-10:30am LHS 206 4:00pm-7:00pm LHS 210 MA 105 Math 042 Community of Practice Kickoff Meeting 9:00am-10:30am MA 107 Biology Education Journal Club 1:00pm-3:00pm LHS 210 2:00pm-4:00pm BFL 210 WORKSHOP STRANDS – Wednesday, 1/22 College Policies & Procedures Best Practices & Student Success Technology/Distance Education Equity Other Evaluation Training Workshop Canvas for Face-toFace Classes Secure Online Exam Proctoring Creative Approaches to Student Equity Veteran Net Ally 9:00am-11:00am 9:00am-10:30am 9:00am-10:30am 10:00am-11:00am PS 109 ATC 113 ATC 109 BFL 102 Deans & Department Chairs Meeting Veteran Net Ally Canvas for Face-toFace Classes Graphic Medicine: The Intersection of Story, Art & Health Study Away -
