You’re not alone on this journey or feeling Community Groups FLOC was founded in Toledo, Ohio, in 1967 by Baldemar Velasquez A migrant worker who had worked in the fields since he was six years old, Velasquez led his first strike at the age of 12 By the time he was 20 years old and a college student, Velasquez had already faced numerous beatings and arrests But in 1967, with the help of his father and others, Velasquez organized FLOC among migrant field workers picking tomatoes in Ohio Career Groups Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Rodrigo Garcia was working as a civil engineer for the City of Los Angeles When he was at work —even in the midst of a tech boom in California —he was a brown face in a sea of white But when he drove home in the evenings or walked the streets, his city was far more colorful LA was home to the largest Hispanic population in the country Student Groups Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority In 1975, Kean University introduced bilingual and Latino/Caribbean studies Although this enabled the educational advancement of the Latina woman, still missing was the support needed to bridge the equality gap It was during this time that 17 women convened to discuss the formation of a sorority for Latina women Okay Marcela, pero what about Latinx at NC State??
