TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART Values Let’s consider values and the way they change What kinds of possessions give status to people in your country? That’s a good question Let me think…I’d say it depends on where you are and who you are with If you are out in public, it’s things like the car you are driving If you have the latest Mercedes Benz model, then in my country that is a sign of status, as most people can’t even afford a car at all, whatever they make Property, or the house you own, and the possessions you have in it are also a sign of status If you have a nice house in a nice area, then this shows you have money and are someone important Has it always been the same or were different possessions thought of as valuable in the past? I’m too young to remember exactly what it was like a long time ago, but yes, I think it was different For example, cars as I mentioned before only really came to our country in the last ten years or so That kind of consumerism is a fairly recent thing so this couldn’t have been used as a representation of something valuable I think it was things like gold and jewelry that were seen as valuable Of course these are still seen as valuable today, but previously it was these things over anything else as a lot of the modern day possessions were not available Why you think people need to show their status in society? I believe that this is because it's important in society to show you have money or are successful – it is nature, or the way we are brought up, that makes us feel like this, but also the pressure that society puts on everyone to be successful And showing status is basically showing that you have money and you have success, so this is what people want to Going www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART back to the example of the car, driving around in a Mercedes is a very conspicuous show of status – it basically says to people, “Look, I am successful and I have money.” Another reason is possibly for respect In many cultures, if someone has high status, then they will be respected by others and they may receive preferential treatment Advertising Now we'll discuss the role of advertising Do you think advertising influences what people buy? Yes, definitely If there was no advertising and you went to a shop, then you would just buy what you wanted based on maybe what others have told you, what the product looks like, or, depending on the product, what it says on the label Advertising builds up a brand and people then trust a certain thing because they have seen it on television or elsewhere Also, there is so much advertising around it must influence us You can’t escape it as it is fed to us constantly in our daily lives – not only in magazines, radio and television, but on billboards, on TVs installed on trains and platforms, even in schools and universities So yes, advertising influences what we buy Do advertisements give correct information, or they encourage people to buy things that they may not need? I think some and some don’t, but it’s difficult to know which is giving us the correct information For example, skin whitening products – I not believe that these work but we see them everywhere in Asian countries, and we are encouraged to buy them even though they are not actually www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART necessary The adverts, though, tell us they are necessary as they will improve our lives and we will become more accepted and successful This then, is an example of advertising encouraging people to buy something they not need I think there are checks in most countries these days to make sure that adverts are giving the correct information and not lying to people, but I think it is still easy for advertisers to exaggerate or to this without breaking the regulations Is advertising really necessary in modern society? It could be seen to be necessary in terms of the fact that, as I mentioned before, there is so much choice that we need someone to guide us in what to buy or to give us some extra information about products Without this, it would be difficult to know where to start However, that said, I’m not sure that I would regard it as ‘necessary’ as overall I think it may more harm than good As we just discussed, advertising encourages people to buy things they possibly not need We live in a consumer society and many people are in debt because we are encouraged to buy and buy, and I’m sure advertising plays a major role in this Without advertising we could just our own research and decide what we really need So no, I would not say that advertising is necessary in modern society The Internet Now we'll move on to the influence of the internet Do you think people take notice of advertisements on the internet? Despite the fact that there are many adverts on the internet these days, I think actually many people tend to ignore them, or at least that is my www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART experience People usually go onto the internet to find something specific that they are looking for, which may be a product, or to read about something, so they will ignore what is not relevant to that But of course there is no doubt that some people take notice of them Advertising on the internet is a practice most companies partake in now, and they have to pay quite substantial sums to advertise on highly ranked sites Of course they would not this if it were not attracting customers for them How you think it will change people's buying habits in the future? Buying from the internet is becoming more and more popular For example, we’ve seen many book shops close down because people can buy online at cheaper prices from sites such as Amazon It makes life much easier if products can be delivered directly to our door, especially with our busy modern lifestyles I think this will only increase in the future as more people feel safe to buy online and online shops make it easier to purchase this way Also, I think our lives are only going to become busier, so more people will choose to shop this way Are there any disadvantages to shopping on the internet? There certainly are some Firstly, buying clothes can be a problem When you go into a shop you can check what you are buying fits you and suits you, but it is obviously not possible to this online Shopping does not become less of a hassle if you have to send something back in the post Another problem is the security We have to give out our bank details to people we don’t know There have been several recent reports in the press about sites that have had their security breach and credit card details stolen So far this is fairly uncommon, but it is a risk none the same Another disadvantage is to society as it could destroy local shops and businesses if people are not going out to shop in their local town www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART Transport Let's talk about transport How most people travel long distances in your country? I’d say that the main ways are cars, buses and trains If someone has a car, I think this is their preference because to be honest the trains are not that much cheaper where I live Also there are often delays with the trains which can be a real pain, so you may end up with a really long journey The buses are a bit cheaper but I don’t think that is such a comfortable way to travel There is the option to travel by plane as well of course, but most of the bucket airlines go abroad – you can’t really travel that cheaply by plane within the country So then, cars are really the best option, and of course they give you the most freedom when you are travelling Have the types of transport people use changed much over the last few decades? I don’t think they really have We’ve had the transport I mentioned before for many decades now in my country, and it is much the same today Of course cars have become much more popular as people’s incomes have risen which accounts for the problems we see on the roads today such as congestion and more accidents and pollution This has probably led to some changes within cities Many have now introduced environmentally friendly forms of transport such as trams and guided buses that don’t run on gas and mean that people can travel without the use of the car There has also been an increase in air travel, but like I said, this is quite expensive in my country so most cannot afford it www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART What kinds of improvements have there been in transport in your country in recent years? There have been several ways that transport has improved More major roads have been built which means it is easier to travel long distances, though of course some would argue that more roads are not an improvement They can be an eyesore in the countryside and they have encouraged more people to drive which may mean these improvements ultimately don’t work because there are more cars using the roads As I mentioned before, there has been the introduction of mass transit in many cities, such as trams and trains In our capital city they have also extended the underground system so it now links many more areas of the city This has helped many people as commuting times are horrendous if you have to travel on the roads Those are the main improvements LAW Is there any situation where people disobey the law? To be honest, I’ve never actually seen anyone litter I’m sure it must still exist to some extent, but I genuinely think people are afraid to so because of the fines and police presence However, I know that no country is perfect and that there are always people who will disobey the law On another note, I think that perhaps people who come to Singapore are more likely to throw their trash on the ground if it isn’t something enforced in their home country www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART Do people like being a policeman in your country? I would say so Actually, my father is a police officer and he seems to enjoy it quite a bit, although it is a tough job Since Singapore has a reputation to maintain, the police force strives their utmost (works extremely hard) to give their all to make sure that Singapore remains among the safest countries With this said, some police officers feel quite a lot of pressure, which makes it a challenging yet rewarding job What qualities should a police officer have? Firstly, I believe that a police officer must have a high sense of integrity As corruption is a problem in many countries which prevents progress in a place, it is important that the police officer has a sense of integrity along with morality, honesty, and a genuine concern to make the country safer Furthermore, they must be hard-working and not too relaxed as there are always people trying to slip through the cracks (do something without being caught) of the law All in all, they must be a strict, no tolerance sort of individual to be efficient Why some people want to become a lawyer? To be honest, I think some people choose it for the money, as it is a high paid job in many countries Secondly, some people feel quite passionate about the law and want to dedicate their life to it Thirdly, there are many www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART different branches of law, such as international, geriatric, criminal, etc., so there are many different opportunities within this career path As with other jobs, people know in their heart which career is for them! PHONES Do young and old people use phones in the same way? There is a huge difference between how young and old people use cell phones Majorly, it is in terms of frequency Also, younger generations are adept at using indispensable devices They use it for calling, texting and surfing the internet On the other hand, the older generation only uses the phones to call somebody or pick the incoming call What are the differences between writing a letter and writing a text message on a cell phone? Well, these are two different concepts Writing a letter, be it formal or semi-formal, requires an amount of effort and time Language and punctuation will have to be considered to write something decent that is easily understood On the other hand, text messages are exchanged between known or acquainted people and can get quick replies, unlike letters Many people think mobile phones can be annoying at times Can you give any examples of that? www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART Honestly, even I am one of those who find a mobile phone irritating at times I have never been a fan of hi-tech devices Sure, I appreciate them for the development but there are problems that they create as well One of the things I don’t like is that during a conversation with others, people keep checking their phones It makes me feel offended that the person is not paying complete attention Another time is when you are in a meeting, a buzzing phone can be disturbing and unprofessional Do you prefer face-to-face conversations or conversations by phone? I genuinely prefer a face-to-face conversation as I feel that is a more personal way of talking to somebody These days, with mobile phones gaining popularity, people have stopped spending time with each other and continue neglecting their loved ones While phones are necessary, they should not create a hurdle between one another MUSIC Why you think that some local singers or musicians aren’t as successful as some from other countries? I think that fame is sometimes simply the luck of the draw I think those born in United States or other developed countries who play a large role in pop culture are the ones who find success more easily I think it’s unfair that some are born with privileges that will eventually lead them to fame and wealth For example, as you see, many famous singers www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART mum didn’t know how to use Facebook and I had to spend a few hours helping her create an account then connect with her friends Now she is very active on Facebook, even more, active than I am 3What can the younger generation learn from the older generation? Youngsters can ask older people for advice on love, work and friendship Although our world is changing very fast, somethings remains the same And that’s where old people can help with their wealth of experience I often consult my mum on my work, because she has the same job When you talk with an old person, you can also learn about life in the past, which is also very interesting 4What qualities does a person need to take care of old people? Compassion and patience, I guess Old people sometimes have unreasonable requests, especially when they’re sick or insecure You need to understand these feelings and be patient For example, my dad has become quite forgetful recently; he often forgets where he leaves his key or wallet This was quite annoying at first but I’m getting used to it 5Do you think elderly people should be allowed to work? Yes, if they’re capable of working I know some old people who look a lot younger than their age and work very efficiently Nowadays, living standards and healthcare have improved significantly, as a result, people live much longer It is only natural to have the working-age limits extended 6Do you think that elderly people should be taken care of at home? www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART It depends on the family It is better for an old person to live with his or her family But if everyone is busy then a care home is a better choice This type of home has everything an old person needs, including medical services And an old person can make friends with other old people who live here 29 ONLINE SHOPPING Do all people enjoy shopping for clothes? I can’t say for sure, since it largely depends on personal demand and interest Women seem to be more obsessed with fashion and shopping than the rest of the population, but there are exceptions Those who love spending time and money on beautiful pieces of clothing pay great attention to their appearance and take pleasure in the act of shopping, while others consider it a waste of resources However, people have different reasons to buy clothes which are not necessarily related to whether they enjoy it or not For example, most men avoid shopping on clothes unless they need a new suit for some formal event or only when there are holes in their clothes! Why women like to go shopping? Women are considered as an embodiment of beauty, which may explain why they love shopping and enjoy flamboyant dressing to a considerable degree First and foremost, outfits are visual indicators of personalities Hence, they want to dress accordingly Secondly, shopping is not only for the sake of fashion but also an effective means of relaxation In modern society, where lots of people are under constant stress every day, indulging in some severe shopping may help take the weight off their mind, despite temporarily Last but not least, women don’t usually shop for themselves alone, but most www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART of their spending is on family and friends They relish the idea of giving gifts or buying beautiful clothes for their beloved ones Therefore, shopping sits high on their to-do lists Why some women buy cheaper clothes and expensive ones at the same time? Admittedly, the more high-priced a piece of clothing is, the more exquisite it looks However, it doesn’t mean low-cost costumes are less appealing or fashionable Therefore, many women have both high-end and budget-friendly items in their closet for different purposes Luxury brands such as Gucci, Channel, or Louis Vuitton are more familiar with the upper class and frequently appear in upscale places or events More affordable apparel brands like ZARA or H&M are not falling behind in terms of fashion trends or stylish designs Thus, many prefer them and their products are suitable for various occasions, from daily wear to special occasions Do you think it is good for people buy expensive clothes? Why? People have their preferences when it comes to fashion, which satisfies both their taste and affordability I believe it’s more economically wise not to spend an excessive amount of money on clothing since such amount can be invested more efficiently The first reason is fashions are short-lived Once a specific type of clothing goes out of style, it is likely to be left untouched for eternity despite being worn a few times Imagine the same thing happening with dozens of other pieces in your closet The amount of money you waste will add up Furthermore, it will be more beneficial to invest in experiences and knowledge rather than material items Travelling and exploring the world will bring you more pleasure and wisdom than a fashionable dress ever could www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART Why some people like shopping with friends? Plenty of people, including me, enjoy shopping with friends rather than by themselves because of some privileges they can’t find otherwise People tend to seek advice or ideas on the products or services when shopping Hence, a companion can provide you with more objective and fairer remarks on the item you want to buy but are uncertain of, which is extremely helpful for fashion Besides, it might be impossible for you to refrain from overspending, and that’s where your co-shopper comes to your rescue Before they let you go over your budget, they make sure you know the pros and cons Thus, unless all my friends are occupied, I rarely go shopping alone 30 WORKING ABROAD Why some people keep changing their jobs? People change jobs when they find better work opportunities (their new job can offer a higher salary, for example), when they move to a new city or country People also change jobs to avoid mistreatment or conflict in their old workplace 2What changes have occurred in your country in the last few decades? People can now find jobs through companies’ websites, social media, and sites like Linkedin Many people are now working from home using the Internet without travelling Another change is the rise of startups In recent years, entrepreneurship has become more popular and encouraged 3Do young people complain more now than in the past? www.yesielts.net m.me/nhuyielts8.5 ieltsnhuy@gmail.com TỔNG HỢP 40 BÀI MẪU IELTS SPEAKING PART I think to an extent, yes But that’s not necessarily a bad thing Life today is more stressful and competitive so sometimes you need to vent your feelings I think the wealth gap also plays a role here In the past wealth is relatively evenly distributed so even when life is hard, you don’t find it hard because everyone else is living the same life Nowadays there are people who are a lot richer than you, which is sometimes very frustrating 4Is it important for companies to deal with complaint from customers? Yes, companies need to address customers’ concerns if they want to make profits and maintain a positive public image If customers not receive adequate explanations or reparations, they will stop buying the companies’ products or services 5Why most companies in your country refuse to deal with complaints? Because customers’ complaints in my country rarely lead to anything serious like lawsuits Most customers usually give up when they not receive any adequate explanation or reparation at first try 31 ARTS How could art exhibitions attract more visitors? Yes, India is a diverse country, and art exhibitions and galleries are very popular These arts have cultural and religious influences that attract everyone The rich culture of India is reflected in various art forms Do you think people should have to pay to visit art exhibitions? This mainly depends upon who is organizing the art exhibitions If such an event is organized by a multi-billion dollar organization or a billionaire artist, even if people don’t pay to visit, it would be adequate On the other hand, if the art exhibition is set up by non-profit organizations, it will be easier for them to generate and raise funds How will art exhibitions change in the future? Maybe, Yes! Machines may replace humans and start doing these boring jobs as they won't get tired In fact, there are enough examples nowadays where machines have already replaced humans into everyday tasks Machines will complete their jobs diligently and effectively Why people boring jobs?
