April 24, 2017 The Southeast Local Schools Board of Education met in regular session at 7:00 p.m on Monday, April 24, 2017 in the high school library, 8423 Tallmadge Road, Ravenna, Ohio The meeting was called to order by Board President Lori Loudin-Smith Roll Call Present: Mary Kaley, David Kemble, Jeff McElfresh, John Witkosky, Lori Loudin-Smith Absent: None 086-2017 Approve Agenda Mary Kaley moved and Jeff McElfresh seconded the motion that the Board of Education accept and approve the board meeting agenda for April 24, 2017 as presented with corrections Yeas: David Kemble, Jeff McElfresh, John Witkosky, Lori Loudin-Smith, Mary Kaley Nays: None Motion Carried to 087-2017 Approval of Board Minutes Jeff McElfresh moved and Mary Kaley seconded the motion to approve the March 4, 2017 special board meeting minutes (work session), and the March 20, 2017 board minutes from the regular board meeting The minutes are available for inspection in the office of the Treasurer Yeas: for the 3rd nine weeks Maplewood held their annual Dinner with a Teacher on April 5th Legislative Liaison Report: Mrs Kaley reported that the proposed biennium budget includes over $400 million in state budget cuts Mary also read from an article in the Plain Dealer regarding SB85 which would greatly expand the controversial school voucher program Mrs Kaley attended the OSBA Spring Leadership training Other Business: Mr Dunn commented on the decision of the Portage County Board of Disabilities to continue to serve special needs students Mr Witkosky noted the March 24, 2017 article in the Record Courier signed by members of the Portage County Board of Disabilities and Superintendent, Omar Nagi, which memorialized their commitment to work closely with local school districts to provide
