(1) Professional Development through learning communities for faculty, teaching assistants, and undergraduate peer leaders. Facilitation of a science teaching journal club, a “scientists as teachers” speaker series, and summer workshops with follow up that includes on‐site classroom‐based support and feedback from peers and experts. The postdoctoral research associate will be supervised by Dr. John Geiser in the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful applicant will play a leadership role in project implementation, assessment, and dissemination. The successful applicant will help organize and direct the learning communities, assist in curriculum development, analysis of learning outcomes and persistence of students in the department of Biological Sciences. The fellow will also help organize the HHMI scientist and teacher speaker series as well as the summer workshops. A candidate who has expertise in undergraduate biology teaching and who can lead efforts in faculty/TA development is preferred. The candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in STEM education or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and experience in the study and/or promotion of STEM education reform at the post‐secondary level.
