Wyoming City School District Job Description Job Title: Reports To: FLSA Status: Board Approved: Revised Date: Innovation Specialist/Fab Lab Building Principal Certified, preference March 10,2020 March 10, 2020 GENERAL DESCRIPTION This professional provides leadership in developing, designing, and collaborating on transformational learning as a tool While maintaining the research and innovation center, this profesional leads students in the use of innovation thinking, practices, resources, and materials and serves as a resource person to the teaching staff on innovation and the design process (ideation, research, creation, and presentation) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following Other duties may be assigned Essential Responsibilities: ● Empowers the learning community to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information ● Fosters exploration, discovery, and innovation in a growth mindset ● Develops and maintains a teaching and learning environment that is fun, inviting, safe, flexible, collaborative, inclusive, and conducive to learning ● Empowers learners to work with each other in successful collaborations and to constructively assess their own work and the work of their peers ● Models and develops a commitment to respect diversity in the learning community ● Teaches all members of the learning community to engage with and use information in a global society ● Evaluates, introduces, and models emerging technologies for the learning community, and uses technology to supplement school resources ● Participates as an active leader of the local and global learning community, building relationships with organizations and stakeholders ● Collaborates with classroom educators to establish learning objectives and assessment strategies to develop individual and group inquiry-based learning experiences ● Connects with teachers individually and in Professional Learning Communities to support each teacher’s growth from their own starting point and at their own pace ● Supports learners as they make meaning for themselves to create new knowledge by collecting, organizing, and sharing resources of personal relevance ● Demonstrates competency, agility, and fluency with technology and software applications ● Selection of innovation materials for a variety of student/staff interests, learning styles, reading levels, and interactive levels ● Selection and maintenance of media and equipment that will complement and supplement innovation and the district curriculum ● Development and administration of a building innovation and research budget in collaboration with the Media Specialist ● Maintenance of an accurate and current inventory of innovation materials and equipment, and submission of reports in a timely manner ● Curating, classification and organization of innovative media and equipment according to accepted standards and ready accessibility ● Supervision of the processing of materials, equipment, resources, and safety regulations ● Arranging for the inspection, maintenance, replacement, and repair equipment under the realm of the responsibility assigned by the District ● Works closely with district technicians and Media Specialist to maintain an efficient support structure for students, staff, and parents ● Connects students and staff to the design thinking process (ideation, research, creation, and presentation) through all areas of the curriculum ● Coordinates with community members, university representatives, etc to provide non-traditional educational experiences in the greater school community and promote innovation practices SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises paraprofessionals who may comprise the school library staff, and if applicable, volunteers and student assistants and supports through providing regularly scheduled meetings for collaboration Will work collaboratively with school media specialist Carries out supervisory responsibilities of the accordance with the district's policies and negotiated agreements Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning and directing work and addressing complaints and resolving problems QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education;
