offers a summer writing program for high school students (ages 16-‐18) The program is designed to help students enhance writing skills, creativity, and critical thinking Students have the opportunity Program Program: Malone University Academic Summer Camps: Canton, Ohio Description: Malone University (MU) will host nine academic camps during the week of June 19, 2016, complete with hands-‐on activities, field trips, social activities, and meals in the campus dining commons • • • • • • • • • • Zoo and Wildlife Biology Camp: Develop hands-‐on skills like animal handling, environmental monitoring, and field identification of local plant and animal species Chamber Music Camp: For pianists and string, brass, woodwind, and percussion players In collaboration with the Canton Symphony through games, improvisation, and performance Examine traditional acting techniques through exercises, which encourage confidence, flexibility, and creativity Applied and Scientific Psychology Camp: Explore the human mind and behavior through lab exercises with video games and simulations, and field trips that will introduce you to major scientific discoveries in psychology Participants: Rising School Students – Sponsored by the Area Health Education Center: Columbus, Ohio Description: Ohio State University’s Summer MD Camp provides students with an opportunity to learn about the field of medicine and gain insight into pursuing a career in the medical field Students have a chance to examine a variety of careers in the field of medicine and healthcare including biomedical research and who are considered an underrepresented minority or disadvantaged student in medicine The summer program also provides students with an opportunity to experience college life Participants: High school High School Students: Ohio Dominican University Description: Ohio Business Week is a unique summer program that provides high school students hands-‐on, authentic, and real world learning fifteen years of age Situated on Leesville Lake in the beautiful rolling hills of Carroll County, campers have the opportunity to learn first-‐hand about Ohio’s forests and natural resources Program program for rising 12th grade female students The program provides an opportunity for students to explore careers in engineering, participate in hands-‐on activities, and learn from experts Students Center Computer and Technology Program provides a residential program for high school students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year The programs includes opportunities for students to participate in project-‐based experiences and hands-‐on learning Students have the chance to engage activities such as working with peer teams, using supercomputers for practical applications, Massachusetts 12 -‐BOSTON UNIVERSITY PROMYS Program (Mathematics for Young Scientists)-‐ June 28 – August 8, 2015 A six-‐week residential program open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who have an exceptionally strong interest in mathematics Need-‐based financial aid is available PROMYS is dedicated to the principle that no student will be unable to attend because of financial need Cost Session 3: July 27 – August 7, 2015 Nearly 100 students from 23 states and 6 countries will participate in seminars and work alongside BU faculty and award-‐winning local and national journalists on investigative stories that could be published on the center’s website or in regional and national publications The camp is designed for high school students (grades 9-‐12) who are interested in
