Strengthening the Health Care Team CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT Attendees may receive up to 6.5 contact hours with registration, check-in at registration desk, attestation of attendance and submission collaboration and the four elements critical to cultivating a culture of collaboration: training, clinical workflow design, team coaching and a metrics plan Joy Doll, OTD, OTR/L Attendees will be able to apply interprofessional communication strategies to optimize patient outcomes; describe leadership principles to integrate interprofessional teamwork throughout your health care system; identify the distinction between conflict resolution and conflict engagement; incorporate wellness and resilience principles to enhance well-being FEATURED SPEAKERS JOY DOLL, OTD, OTR/L, is the inaugural executive director for Creighton University’s Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research In this role, Dr Doll is responsible for leading initiatives to promote interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice for Creighton University and CHI Health As a champion for IPE and collaborative practice, Dr Doll has helped facilitate teams of both academicians and clinicians to develop comprehensive IPE to meet the disciplinary accreditation requirements for eight health professions programs and works with CHI Health to establish collaborative practice She also is an author of a grant writing book, multiple scholarly publications and has provided a TED Talk SCOTT NEWALL has been a general aviation pilot since 1988, while also enjoying a successful career in clinical simulation With an intimate respect for the parallels between professional flying and clinical teamwork in the high-stakes health care environment, Scott’s academic expertise is the application of human factors and aviation crew resource management to improve patient safety, a team concept at the core of simulation training He is a former clinical simulation specialist with the Palmetto Health Simulation Center, University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he emphasized instructional system design for health care simulation After graduation from Valley Forge Military College, Scott began working as a paramedic while attending Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, earning a BS in Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Administration in 1995 Following three years in active military duty, he spent the next several years in EMS as a nationally registered paramedic, ultimately flying with an international jet air ambulance company in west Texas TARGET AUDIENCE Nurses, physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, students and other health care providers in ambulatory and acute care settings interested in advancing the interprofessional team CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION To receive your certificate, you must attend 90% of the conference and complete an evaluation A link to an electronic evaluation and attendance confirmation will be emailed to program attendees You have two weeks to complete the program evaluation in order to receive a certificate Evaluations submitted
